Why do you ask something like this? Do you want to try? :D

When I was in school we didn't have English as an option. We had to make a choice...French or Russian. So, I choose Russian. But thanks to movies and music I picked up English.
Anyway, it's important that we understand each other, right? :)
It's not a big deal if my grammar isn't perfect. :)

I got portfolios on both sites with about the same number of images (20 images more on BigStock). I really hope SS will make some marketing moves that will bring us more buyers.

This is getting on my nerves too, but even on IS I get rejection sometimes for keywords that are fully relevant. For example, once I had a photo of a cross, and I got rejection because of keywords cross, religion, Christianity.
My friend had rejection for an image of USB flash drive because he used also fully relevant keywords, and few of them were synonyms for term  "flash drive"....while some very popular images have spammed keywords.

Personally I love summer, but for shooting I like early fall more, because of colors, more blue sky and cropped vegetables and fruit.

Categories are automatic on BigStock,
Really?  Is it a new feature?  I don't remember that... Or are you making a confusion with CanStockPhoto?

It's a new feature, yes. And it works pretty good. I don't say it doesn't make mistakes, but everything is better than assigning categories manually.

Also, I am an experienced submitter, with portfolios on all the big 5

Categories are automatic on BigStock, you only have to check is BigStock choose the right categories, and maybe you would have to correct them sometimes. About MR...I don't find it complicated on BigStock, in fact it's very simple. Now, if you are bored to do that stuff, I think the only solution for you is to pay someone to do it for you.

gejam, you didn't explain to us why you think the keywording process on BigStock is tiresome? If you upload images using FTP and you have IPTC data on all your images, than I don't know why you find it tiresome to upload there? BigStock even chooses categories for you automatically, and you just have to check if they are OK.

StockXpert is generating the same amount of money for me. It would be a real shame if they close it.

Interview of microstock VIP (sites owners, best photographers...) with some rules:
- we prepare questions list (every MSG member can participate)
- questions should be precise and professional
- if VIP accept to participate he should honestly and clearly respond. If something is not clear we can ask for more details.
- then members can vote for VIP (relevance, usefulness...)

I don't believe at theory that any review process has any consistency in any agency. Since I realized that, I really don't get upset when my images are rejected. There is a crap on every agency. I could find and post here amazingly crappy images from the most respectable sites, while some very good images got rejected.

Off Topic / Re: what kind of spider is this???
« on: September 13, 2009, 18:29 »
I would have a heart attack and/or nervous breakdown if I ever saw one of those spiders alive and anywhere near me.

I have my own system for killing spiders (in the house) - as soon as I see one..... I let out a blood curdling scream and freeze until my boyfriend brings a shoe to kill it or my Italian Greyhound eats it.  If my boyfriend is not home and the spider is where my dog can't reach it... I let out a blood curdling scream freeze for a couple moments and then get my super super hold hairspray and nail it till it falls to the floor where I hit it with a shoe in a manic frenzy until it basically disintegrates.

I will correct my statement from above. If it can cause you a heart attack and/or nervous breakdown, than it's NOT completely harmless to people :D

« on: September 13, 2009, 18:27 »
I think DT people said few times that AR affects placement in search, but probably very few people outside DT knows if it's true. I won't say "no one" because "no one" almost never applies in reality.

971
Suljo.... someone could maybe ask you the same, you know? :)
If people have no time to edit images, that maybe means they have thousands of unedited images, and they make new shots everyday, so they maybe have less and less time to do it. They want to hire someone to edit their images, and there is nothing bad in that. They obviously want to pay that person, so it may be good opportunity for people who want additional earnings. I lost my job and I would do it, but my upload speed is only 192Kbps...so I could never upload PSD files fas enough.

972
I don't know the answer, but I'm sure you could pack all your equipment, fly to Greece, find any beach, and you will never have overcast sky or fog in the morning :) That would probably be very expensive photo session, but I'm sure you will have great time there :)
Stay away from oceans :)

Now, someone with real answer please..

I am just a bit concerned because my approval rate is falling down, while it grows up on other sites (except Fotolia). I was a bit scared yesterday when I found portfolio of one artist who joined in march last year (one month after I joined). He has more than 750 files and less than 80 sales!! The strangest thing is, his images are real stock images, and they are very good, so, I asked my self, why he has so poor sales? Let's hope it's not because of approval rate :(

in that case I'm going to stop buying bananas ... here's a top shot of the little freak. It looks like he has two little holes in his back .. no idea what those are for.

It's Spined Micrathena - Micrathena gracilis, female, and it's completely harmless to people.
