Deepmeta stopped working for me for some reason, and efforts to redownload it didn't solve things so I've been uploading individually.
What a nuisance. I think I would virtually give up if I had to go through the site. Most uploads timed out for me.

Uploading doesn't time out for me, though it takes at least a couple of minutes (literally) to open the upload page. However, as each upload can take 20 to 40 minutes to complete I have started uploading 12MP files instead of 20MP in order to speed things up. The time I'm losing uploading large files in not compensated for at all by additional earnings from having that size available given the low sales volume and infrequency of maximum size dls.
Don't you use deepmeta? You just upload them from there and forget about them. I rarely actually go to the site, just for payouts and to have a look at the pp sales.

If by "least growth" you also mean "most severe drop", then it would have to be Fotolia. I'm down 91% on FT from last September.
Are you still uploading there Lisa? I would be 90% down as well if it wasn't for images uploaded in the last 6 months. It seems to me that they pick one image out of each batch I submit and put that one up in the search. These images get multiple sales daily for a few months and then seem to die down again. Hardly anything except for the 'chosen' image sells. 7 out of 10 of my sales are from these images. ETA I'm still 70% down from a couple of years ago but this year has not dropped so drastically .

This is my worse performing site ever. I uploaded 600 images to them nearly a year ago and have made the grand total of less than 10$. I have put them to all the partners except for Getty and Alamy.

I don't think it is a case of BS starting to sell it is more a case of different people selling. Sales have been pretty good for my since they passed my port over with the bridge system but this month my sales have tanked.

FT is the big shocker. My earnings are proof FT did something to its search engine that is punishing contributors who stopped submitting images. What else can explain the two sudden drops...one late last year and one earlier this year...that wiped out 90% of my sales? Out of the blue, my once steady income dropped by a 1/3 in November. My new, lesser income remained steady until that number dropped another 75% in June, which has remained steady just like its predecessors.
Ft seems to sell mostly new stuff these days. 7 out of 10 of all my sales there are from images uploaded in the last few months. I have images there that used to sell daily which are lucky to have one sale a month now. I hope that your problems are over now and that you can start uploading again. I'm still earning about a third of what I earnt over a year ago but if I wasn't uploading I would be earning much less.

Thanks, I won't see pay out for a while either. I have got one sale cleared from the end of May and another from the beginning of June for a total of about 30$ and nothing cleared since then.

.. fun to see the heart votes in this thread
I'm loving the hearts. I'm a facebook fanatic so really missed not being able to 'like' a post

Still only 60% of what I got there in my BME about five years ago. A very unimpressive performance. I've even wondered recently whether having files transferred directly from SS could undermine their search ranking.
My sales went up when they moved the rest of my port over as previously I only had less than half my port there. If you already had most of your port at BS when they did the bridge thing then you probably lost sales due to a lot more competition from people like myself that suddenly had their whole port there. I think that there were a lot of people that didn't even upload to BS before that had whole ports moved over. My sales have taken a nose dive this month though which as so many people are reporting better sales then I'm guessing that there was a major best match change this month.

BTW, fotografer, my highest sale on CS was over 14 $. So, yes, Duncan is generous
Just been and had a look and I have got some higher ones from Distribution Regular sales but so few and far between that I had forgotten about them.

How much earnings do you need for a payout?

Nice first sale. I don't remember getting commissions that high from there before.

You get a certain number of credits associated with every type of DL. I have not worked it out for myself. Sounds very tiresome to do that.

Thanks, that's cool. I could never be bothered to do the calculations.

I don't know if they have had a best match shift or something as I was thinking about starting a thread as sales are so bad for me there this month. Worse month since March 2011 and I am on track to earn half what I did last September.

Just worked out what's wrong. There were some old links that weren't clickable which I thought that they would replace but it has just added them onto the bottom.

- attaching similar images in the description This is also very cool. You can select 15 images, right click and say (create thumbnail links).. then the description of all those iamges will automatically have the links to all the other images in them promoting your own portfolio
I've have just done this and the photos that appear aren't clickable. Is there any easy way of making them clickable as it means that any buyer interested still has to hunt for the image and might not even realize that the images are mine?

Perhaps if you are an exclusive SS submitter with 1000-1500 images, THEN you would see a steady income. A non-exclusive submitter though would probably need around 5000 images to get a steady income......Just my opinion :-) It also obviously depends on the subjects of your images and what sells the most.
There is no exclusivity at SS. Unless of course you just choose not to sell at the other sites but it wouldn't make any difference to sales. If you mean a livable income just on 1000-1500 uploads to SS then it is very unlikely but quite possible to get a decent payout every month.

4 sales in August giving me less than 9$ and not a single sale so far this month but really easy upload so I stick with them.

Well that's a nice bonus for the golds. I guess this will apply to one credit emerald prices too?
I hope so. I will be seriously pissed if it doesn't!!

My guess is that there's at least 200 non-exclusives making more than $2500 a month. Obviously this grows exponentially so the $10k+ group is less than 10 people.
I heard somewhere or read that the top six or seven hundered according to the old IS chart were earning in the region of 1500-2000 dollars a month, independants that is. Since then SS have gone fast forward so wouldnt it be quite easy for them to earn 2500 dollars today at SS? or have I got my maths totally wrong.
I was in the of the top 500 and have never earnt that much a month there. These days not even close. In fact my highest ever earnings have been at DT and Fotolia. I think with the higher prices there are lots of exclusives earning that a month nowadays.

The benefits of using deepmeta (as I seem them are)
-uploading multiple similar images If I upload 15 images that are of a similar concept, they'll have lots of similar words. I don't keyword specifically for istock so there is always a ton of disambiguation to be done. Being able to disambiguate one image and right click-copy, right click-paste all my disambiguated words is another big time saver
- attaching similar images in the description This is also very cool. You can select 15 images, right click and say (create thumbnail links).. then the description of all those iamges will automatically have the links to all the other images in them promoting your own portfolio
Duh I'm an idiot for not reading things. I didn't know that any of this was possible!!! I just thought that the only real advantage was the model releases and the fact that once uploaded to the site you don't need to go back and finish things off. This will save me a lot of work. Thankyou. ETA is there anyway of using deepmeta to edit images already uploaded to create the links?
Yes, of course. In fact you can only create the links for images already uploaded and accepted.
Thank you, of course that makes sense. Looks like I am going to be busy.

I was delighted with the sale but at the time hadn't worked out how the system worked so thought that 425$ was my commission. Obviously it is a great sale but I didn't expect to have over 250$ taken in commissions.
Yeah, well, just remember that iStock would have taken at least $345 of that, but since they would list it as an $80 sale, or thereabouts, without mentioning their slice, you would have been jumping for joy.
Yes, true.

If 60% was taken, your cut is 40% then its a partner sale. I had a sale on Alamy and my cut was 60%
Yes it said partner sale and showed the 2 deductions seperately. One for 40% and one for 20%

The jumping goldfish have been around for years. I've got a book published in 2001 that has the jumping goldfish on the front cover.
