So I got 13 accepted of which 4 are perpetual (not sure which ones). None of them have been big sellers and it's a very small proportion of my overall portfolio. So I get $76 which is a nice bonus and it probably won't have much impact on my day to day sales.

Shutterstock.com / Re: New Unlimited Download Model
« on: June 02, 2025, 08:48 »
This situation affects all contributors because Shutterstock now prioritizes content available through its Unlimited Download plan. This means that if a contributor isn't part of the plan, their content becomes much less discoverable, even to regular customers. Many occasional buyers may not realize that the default filter now shows only unlimited videos/images, so they might never see the work of contributors who are not participating.

I've tried several times to replicate this in a customer-side search but it doesn't occur in my region.

Same here. I just did a search and I don't see the filter. I do, however, see my own work and I'm not part of this 'plan'.

Just got $1.82 from the Contributor Fund. I'm zipping out to buy the champagne.

My own thoughts on this. First, AS only take a small percentage of the nominated photos so we're generally talking about a very small percentage of my portfolio. Second, most of my photos don't make $4 in a year and, with the way stock is going, are unlikely to make $10 in their lifetime. Third, the nominated photos are not ones which sell a lot anyway. So I'll take what money I can get from them now.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Where Are the Customers?
« on: April 10, 2025, 08:07 »
I'm ahead of last year on downloads but behind last year on revenue. So the customers are there. What I'm not getting are the big sales. It's mostly low value ones. Hopefully, that will change.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Granada, Spain
« on: April 09, 2025, 09:50 »
I've been to Granada twice (my son spent a year at Uni there). Anyway, my $0.10 worth.

The Alhambra has been photographed to death; when I type "granada alhambra" into Shutterstock, I get 45,163 stock photos. But there is much more to Granada than the Alhambra. There are great squares in the old part of town. There are interesting shops, streets, bars and restaurants. And there is a part of Granada where people live in caves.

You have a few of those shots so those, plus the city panoramas, are what I would be focused on.

Then again, you could just upload all of them because you never know when one might sell.

I did a trip over the New Year and decided to upload a bunch. Almost all were reviewed within a reasonable period of time although, in my opinion, review results were inconsistent. Anyway, most were accepted and I haven't bothered resubmitting those that were not.

However, there are 5 images, two of which were submitted three months ago and three which were submitted two months ago which appear to be stuck. No idea why.

Better sales numbers but much poorer rpd made this Feb almost 20% worse for $$ than last Feb.

Same here. Missing the higher value sales I was getting last year.

Has anyone figured out how to add a newly approved image to a Collection? I can't see any way to do it.

Edit: figured it out with help from another contributor.

I played with the new system today. It felt a bit clunky but that's probably because I'm not used to it. I did an upload and was able access the legacy keyword tool so that was good. Don't really understand the need for change but I guess the IT department has to be seen to be doing something.

RPD matters because it represents the average price that you sell your work for. Microstock is a business and, in a business, you can't work out if you are making money if you don't know what your sales price is.

For me, volume on Shutterstock is pretty good and well ahead of this point in 2024. RPD, however, is poor so far and well behind 2024. So plenty of low value sales and I need a few higher value ones to pull the RPD up. But early days still.

You enter the word in the PDF. You then enter your password and hit verify. That checks that it's the right password and PDF word. It will display a green box that says verify successful. Then check the little box at the bottom and hit submit.

You should get a pop up box with the tax form highlighted in blue. Click on that and it will download it to your computer.

Just a thought ... do you have pop-ups disabled?

Shutterstock.com / Re: Is Shutterstock Manipulating the Numbers?
« on: January 19, 2025, 08:07 »
I have a couple of submissions that have been waiting for a week. However, I uploaded around 200 images over the holiday period and they were all reviewed in 2-3 days. Many of the same images are still in the queue on Adobe.

As to downloads, I'm well ahead of January 2024 on Shutterstock but Adobe is rather slow. The fact that they are high quality commercial images explains why I'm well ahead and also demonstrates that Adobe being slow is clearly down to something nefarious on their part.

How many stopped uploading to Adobe because of ridiculously long waiting times for moderation and large numbers of seemingly random rejections?

Right now, on Shutterstock, I'm tracking to be ahead of January 2024 in terms of downloads. Revenue is down, partly because of the reset and partly because i haven't had any of the bigger sales yet.

So, no, I don't think they are manipulating the numbers.

Quite a few of us are seeing old, previously accepted assets appear in the rejected queue as "file processing error" with new ID numbers.

Others are seeing their profile size shrink or not display correct.

Anyone else got odd items in their recently reviewed queue?

I got 8 of them. Probably a computer bug which will get fixed sooner or later.

I have to rant again,

November is shaping up to be one of my worst ever at SS.

All the algorithm wants to do is sell just one of my videos, it's bizarre.

Adobe frequently sells both my new and old vids, while recognizing the better ones which sell even more.

The weighting at SS is definitely off. All it needs is a small adjustment and it could make such a difference, so frustrating.

What's the point in uploading more content there?

Historically, November is a slow month for me at SS. However, compared to November 2023, sales for this November are up by 47% and revenue is up by 40% and still a few days to go.

I think SS changed the search algorithm for pictures/videos again from 1st of November, I was checking a lot in the last months where my files where located in the pages and for the last 3-4 months they prioritize the new files which jumped my sales a lot, over 100 assets on daily basis, now I see they went back to the most downloaded assets back on the front pages, I already see an impact, curios if anybody else saw any impact in volume of sales for the 1st of November compared with the last months.

I probably don't have your volume of sales but, from what I can see, November sales, so far, are the usual mix of old and new material. Overall, I've increased my portfolio by 21% this year (32% last year) and sales are on track to be up around 25%-30% for 2024. Revenue is already up 33% over 2023.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobestock Review Time
« on: October 09, 2024, 08:34 »
I'm wondering - does Adobestock still want photos? Should I just stop submitting? Be nice if they communicated why they've suddenly stopped accepting my work, after many years of working together.

I've stopped submitting to Adobe.

I've got a whole load of photos already accepted and earning on Shutterstock that I could submit. But why bother when it's going to take a couple of months to go through the process and they'll probably get rejected anyway?

Went out for a walk on Sunday. Took three shots of things that caught my eye, submitted to Shutterstock, already reviewed and approved. That's how it should be done.

I've lost confidence in the Adobe process.

I don't bother submitting to Adobe any more. The review process takes far too long and the rejections for "quality issues" are a joke. I've better things to do with my time than waste it on a lengthy and inconsistent process.

Shutterstock continues to be my best seller.

So far this year, I've sold 3.5 times more images on SS than on AS and made 3.25 times more revenue.

That said, I've stopped uploading to AS because approval takes months and is extremely inconsistent. 99% of my uploads to SS are approved in less than 48 hours.

....

I stopped uploading to shutterstock in 2020. Was all in but 10 cents is not worth the trouble. Im not very succesful at all in these stock companies but adobe stock is doing better for me than shutter ever did. Shutter was great with video sales.

your choice, but the 10c cheapest sale isn't a true measure - i can't remember anyone here reporting their RPD was < $.20 /image --  mine varies from$.50-.75 /image - only slightly less than AS but with higher actual income/mo (which is what really matters)

My average RPD since I started with SS in 2018 is $0.57. My average RPD for this year is $0.91 (helped by a $261 sale a couple of days ago  8))

Here's my Shutterstock experience.

Review time is good and reviews are done correctly. I recently uploaded a bunch of images and only two were rejected and SS was right to do so (my mistake).

Number of downloads is up on previous year by 18% (end July). RPD is okay and tracking to my normal average. It's at the same level as 2019 and 2020. Not as good as AS but that is compensated by a lot more downloads.

Overall, I make twice as much on Shutterstock as I make on AS.
