When I had a business and my customers defaulted on payment I didn't penalise my suppliers.....anyhow they would have thought I was crackers if I had done!

There appears to be a massive increase in buyers credit card reversals at Fotolia at the moment. The one I had yesterday was backdated to Feb 2008 and other people are reporting reversals of payments from 2007. Anyone else think it's unfair to penalise contributors for what looks to be a Fotolia accountacy error? Chargebacks are normally rectified in a maximum of 12 months.

Sales have rocketed (mainly to Germany, as previously mentioned on here) however acceptance has plummeted.....a very frustrating situation! Me thinks me must try harder

FT is sooo frustrating. I have been trying to improve my portfolio there and have had entire batches rejected for 'technical reasons'/'type of photo' just lately. My sales are excellent and for the tiny amount I have for sale there, I think I do well to sell an average of 1 image a day. I just wish they'd accept my fresh images just like 123RF and SS do. I submitted a ghastly out-of-focus image of a hand the other week to FT and not only did it get accepted, I've sold it twice on only five viewings (even though I intended to remove it from the upload as it was only there to test the reviewing system).....OMG, I'm tearing my hair out 

I've given up trying to figure out the workings of Fotolia. My views are well down but my sales have literally rocketed and this all adds to the frustration with a large percentage of my recent images being rejected (although the same images are selling well elsewhere). I just wish I could add to my portfolio there but they don't seem to want to know at the moment......weird things are happening; I just hope they're for the better.

A prime example of 'cut & paste, one size fits all, keywording'; debatable that any buyer looking for a Buffalo image would buy that one though 

I've found that sites do accept landscape images providing they are of places that they have few or no images of already. I have sold several landscapes of places I thought would be too obscure. With regard to specialising in a particular area; I think as you go along you will realise what you are most comfortable with, and it can surprise you.....just keep submitting and don't get disheartened. I started about a year ago, just uploading to Fotolia and have now decided to try a few more sites now that I have a more-organised portfolio. Good luck for the future.

Thank you. I've bookmarked your blog and I understand what you mean about not limiting myself to The UK. With Fotolia I have had a few UK sales and was surprised, and pleased, to see my images on the front cover of a UK gardening magazine so I suppose I am hoping for more of the same. It's just so great when you see your images in print, especially when you least expect them! Like I say, I have much to learn from the experiences of other photogs.

Just thought I'd say hello to you. I started selling microstock on the Fotolia UK site around a year ago, just for fun, and have now decided to expand my portfolio. I have found that Fotolia is providing a lot more sales but also many more rejections for me of late and so have had a read through this forum to find a few more microstock sites. I'd like to say thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and experiences; it has been invaluable to me as I have much to learn. Can anyone recommend a good UK-focussed ms site?
