My portfolio is mixed. I have Photos, Videos, 3D Renders, Vectors and Illustrations.
My experience is like this:

- on SS: i sell mostly photos. this might be due to the fact that my portfolio is predominated by these kinds of assets
- on AS: i sell some vectors but mostly photos, though I sell more vectors compared to SS
- on iS: i sell mixed. it's like they don't care about the predomination of your portfolio or maybe they have more vectors oriented clients, taking into consideration that my portfolio is 60%-70% photos.

Is here any Blender animator that wants to share those miracle settings that pass Shutterstock review process? I tried lots of them. Rendered with Cycles and Eevee. 128 and 250 samples. High quality and losless. And of course rendered with Quicktime codec.

All of them were rejected. Don't know what more should i do. Should i raise to thousands of samples? That would take months if not years in some cases although would be pointless as further from 250 samples there was no difference to be seen.

Rejection reason was noise/artifacts some like that.

Note that i used denoiser in Cycles. Eevee does not know such thing.

Would appreciate an answer from a contributor that has animations already accepted in their portfolio.

You should think more about the reason on why they made this program.
To be honest i'm seeing 2 main reasons in which you should raise some questions to yourself

1. They're planning to sell the DT brand so they're rushing for a few extra earning (for themselves of course) or
2. They are aware of the bad keywording the majority of contributors are doing where you should ask yourself if the keywording you're doing is doing fine and maybe you might want to cjeck a few articles about it or even seminaries why not.

 Well if that increase rate of 140% sums up to an income close to what you earn from SS, then don't do it. If it sums up that you will earn close to double the amount of earning you get from SS then it might worth just bare in mind how long it will take until you will get back that investment plus profit?
My conclusion is that even if that will be true, it might not worth it.

The thing is that it seems really pointless to try hard to get... let's say 500 shots/month. It seems like alot of  wasted time and energy for something that will bloom in years. What if you have the possibility to found a Microstock Factory. That seems to be even more time, energy and in many cases, even money wasted.
I'm one of those guys that believed that internet bs where it says that it's never too late to enter the microstock business. I don't know how you feel about this but it really seems that those photographers that started in early 2000's had a hyper-different beginning then one that starts now in this microstock business.
I studied how microstock works. Talked to different people in hope to see different answers/different experiences but, all is aw was the difference between good/bad shots and high/low volume. Until now! When i realised that it really doesn't matter that you upload 100K shots in a month (possible with a Microstock Factory) or 500 as one photographer. It will take X time for your shots to be... i don't know, indexed or something.
So in my opinion this business it goes like this from the moment of inception (numbers are just examples):

500 pics = $5 <2-3yrs = $50 >2-3yrs
100 000 pics = 500$ <2-3yrs = $5000 >2-3yrs

I understood that there is no way of promotion to push your sales up. That's a good thing because that way it all comes down to the quality and to how well you managed the demands, trends etc.
But it's gotta be something... some algorithms i don't know... i can only think that those guys who figured that out know when to upload and when to stop uploading. there is lots of information out there that must be found out and i thought that it will be someone on this forum to explain those things to this topic as long as he sees someone that is interested in this type of information.

Yeah i guess i was fool to think that an info of this caliber will be offered as charity. I guess i'll have to struggle and dig deeper.

Hello my dear microstock colleagues. I have a "possible strange question" for all of Microstock Veterans that are on this topic.
Let's assume that i'll upload 1 000 000 good shots today. YES! Also let's assume that all of them are accepted in the same day.
My question is: How long does it take to make a decent income from 1 000 000 photos? How many months/years must pass with that million photos already accepted to start earn a living?
I'm asking this because i spoke with a few people and i got to this odd idea that no matter how much you upload, it must take a while to really start earn something serious. And besides the fact that i spoke with others in this business about this fact, i made a sort of test a year ago when i started my MS account on SS.
I got 12 shots accepted and then i just watched them how they act. Strangely, they were earning more and more with every month passed. 12 shots reached to a $4/month from 2015 'till 2016.
My guess is that if you're starting right now in MS business, you won't be satisfied unless you manage to gather around 6000 photos in... let's say 2-3 years.
Might be an file indexing factor in the middle that causes this thing, or it's something else?
I'm really trying to figure it out the "behind the scenes" of Microstock because it really can't be that simple to upload a lot of good shots today and start earning tomorrow.
Also tell me if i'm wrong or not because i want to dig further for the "behind the scenes" of Microstock. Am I on the good path here or not?
Also if somebody figured out how the algorithms works on a specific agency, leave a comment with your thoughts, formulas etc

Right. I have images that don't see much anymore, but they were hotties. 700-1000 downloads, not I am lucky to see a few over a year. Considering that fruits are on white background. So you see my point here? you have 10 shot in both cases but in the second case the probability percentage will be higher.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It's irrelevant which of my files sold best historically if they are now way down in the default search.

I am using a 3rd party software that tracks my sales and how the pictures behave on different agencies. Is called Microstockr Pro(the PC version).
From there you can see how many downloads you had on a particular picture, how much income your pictures generated, from all agencies or from a particular agency.
I was simply sorting those by best selling, by all agencies and i applied the 'all time' filter. And the i got my results.
So i'm sorry if you thought that my intentions were to copy all of others contributors picture... although i shared mine first.

It's to understand what buyers are looking for despite what YOU THINK are looking for. It's for us, contributors, especially for those who are in this business for years and maybe they see lots of income drops without knowing why. So i think we all should make an analysis on our portfolios to see if we lost our way somewhere on the path. It's to motivate those contributors to get up if they feel down, if they feel like there is nothing more in this microstock type of business. And is for beginners to understand what and why are those shots or footages best selling.

What would you all think it will be the worst case scenario stats of making an income out of microstock?

I thought of starting a topic who can motivate the people without talents and not only. People who are following the first instinct on making random outdoor shots could be motivated by this one too. So how this should be going?
Write your opinion (based on your experience) on how many images you need to have accepted per day on SS, followed by the number of images you must already have in your portfolio on SS for your predicted earnings per month and last of course, the earnings per month you think you'll make with random shots on SS if you respect the numbers mentioned before.

For example: 10 APD (accepted per day) -> 6000 PORT (Portfolio) = $1000/month

I hope this will be a great help for many of us not only the beginners !
