Shutterstock exploits its image providers by not paying them fair. It may be easier to get sympathy from buyers of images that value their brands highly. Those companies want to be safe in the photographer / illustrator has received a fair compensation.
Is it possible to point out that this is affecting the poorest people in the world, those who need to sell pictures for their survival have suddenly lost 2/3 of the payment?

Fair trade is a concept used for cocoa, among other things, so that the end customer knows that the agricultural worker has been paid fairly.

A boycott of Shuttersstock's customers can be effective. It will affect those companies financially as long as they buy images of Shutterstock, which will affect Shutterstock to review its business model.

This guy got his guitar broken during his flight with Unitied Airlines. He made a song and published it on Youtube and got media cover his case. First time I watch this video was during a customer services education session. His song had impact and still has.

A building doesn't need to be famous to require a property release. If it is recognizable private property it will likely require a property release at Adobe Stock. I often get rejections for Swedish buildings (exteriors) because the release is missing. The houses are clean lack signs like names and other brand like symbols.

I'm confused and I don't understand why, because:

Swedish copyright law provides an exception to the building's copyright owner's (the architect) right to decide on his work and get financial compensation, in the case the reproduction of it are photos or paintings.

The owner of a house has no statutory right get compensation and can not decide if the house can be used on an image or not. It's the architect who is the copyright owner and the only one that can provide a release, which is not needed.

My challenge is to earn at least $ 5,000 a month on stockphoto so I can live on that income.

A liter of gasoline costs about $ 2 in my part of the world.

Today there are about 70 000 pictures, a year ago about half as many. The content of the image bank is not directly outstanding. The image bank grows too slowly to attract recurring customers.

Do they have any customers at all?
Do they sell any pictures to real customers?

At Eyeem  I have about 100 images selected for premium collection, with aprox 25 of them in premium collection at Getty. The last year 3 sells only all via Getty. I don´t expect any sells from Eyeem it self, only from partners.

After some time (two month or so) I delete all non premium collection images. I allso seel via Istock and I'm not sure if I get petter pay via Eyeem for Getty sells compared viith Istocks Getty sells.

There are no minum limits for pay out.

Why should I sign a model release in case I'm photographed?

Mosphotos has its customers mainly in Sweden, but also partly in Finland. The most important categories of customers are government institutions, municipalities, organizations and free newspapers.

Customers primarily buy images that look genuine for the illustration of news articles.

I guess the photographers who are recommended by Mostphotos are those who sell pretty well or have a portfolio that appeals to potential customers. If you choose to follow them you can get an idea of what sells.

I have begun to follow the members of Mostphotos located on the front page to get an insight into what is demanded by the customers by seeing what they sell and how much.

I hope I can increase my sells.

What part of the drug do you want to conquer geographically, the whole world, Europe or Switzerland?

A niche of the market such as public transport and getting the biggest on it?

The idea of ​​conquering the world market at once has been tried before. It could be the vision, but start with the goal of being the best in pictures needed in the local market in Switzerland. If you can conquer 3000 regular subscribers, there is a chance to get this with a small profit. There will be need of at least 3 million images of satisfactory quality with spread on keywords and subjects in the base.

Can you get into nearby markets, for example Austria with another 3000 customers as next step, it can be really good.

My experience is that customers seek partly the customized isolated images on white  for ideas, but also images that appear to be taken from everyday life, local business, streets, buildings, places in the market where the customers are located. Ask the Swiss photographers for local images, by google adds, adds in local photo magazines.

Good clients to market you service for are local newspapers, government agencies, smaller advertising agencies, municipal administrations, political parties, associations and smaller companies. You need to call them, visit them.

Be transparent and fair with customers and contributors. This service will cost you money for at least five years before it make any good profit.

About 16 500 images in the database. I need to reach 100 US dollars before payout is possible and I have not yet figured out if Paypal or bank transfer are availble for payouts.

From Getty and Shutterstock I get payment each month. Payouts seems far away at Lifeographies. My guess is that they don´t have many customers, if any.

The uploading process need to be changed by adding a FTP-service. I have lots of pictures in different catogories and need them to be self populated. I don't work with batches.

As a custumer I'm wouldn't by images from this agency because they takes no responsiblity for who the copyright holder is. As a buyer I need an insurance policy for that kind of problems.

The site need https and a valid certificate.

My browser is of the opinion that the site is unsecure, It connects with http instead of https and there is no certificate that can guarantee that the site is genuine and has secure private transfer. Not suitible for entering login and password, credit cards e tc.

If the compensation to the image provider is acceptable, and sales are good, I have a some thousands images to offer for distribution.

According to Shutterstock's annual report, God exists and that God is a risk. Strange to refer all unidentified risks to something as indistinguishable as God, without therefore pointing out which of the Gods is concerned.

I have worked a bit on what I need to sell it for granted that I do not have any overhead. My place on Earth is in Scandinavia, which means that about 5600 US dollars per month is required to deal with living expenses and taxes. There is a long way to go yet.

To achieve this required that I work full-time with photo and recruit models I pay and have a studio and great location to photograph. This drives  cost (tax deductible in taxation).

It is probably more profitable to sell photography services as the main job and let the unbooked time be used for the production of stock images.

I'm happy I don't live in the USA.

I note the same phenomenon and I'm a non-exclusive, which shows the percentage of income 15% .My guess is that they have problems with selecting the options non-exclusive and exclusive to the report, so it will be the latter.

My guess it's regarding the anti money laundering directive in EU and world wide regulations.

With Britain outside the EU, we wish them good luck with negotiating a trade agreement. Why would we in Europe want to have a trade agreement with the British?

The British industry will find it difficult to sell goods in the EU. The automotive industry and other industries will move to the EU. The EU will have import duties on goods from non-EU countries. Unemployment and porness increases. Civil war is imminent.

Now, if Britain wants to re-enter the EU, it is a new negotiation. Two requirements that it will not be granted an exemption are:

- Introduction of right-hand traffic
- Introduction of the same time zone as France and most of Europe uses, i.e., CET, which is GMT + 1

It seems a good idea to wait and see how it develops in the future. The more I study iStock the more remarkable seems that from a supplier's perspective.

No idea to spend time trying to figure out the hard way to find out what is accepted. Too bad you can not erase images with less than opening a case.
