I work in the video department on a pretty regular basis, and let me say this - handling images is what we do for breakfast. Would you like to be part of something completely new? Then take a look at this post for a second!

Clipcanvas is growing quite nicely at the moment. We have no intentions of moving into the image department - why would we? We figure this is a crowded space with a lot of casualties, and what we really care about is motion...this is where we come from!

Would you like to kick off a fresh and completely different image agency? All of you already represent a nice intersection of the relevant images - so why not, right?

In March 2013, we're running a start-up Workshop in Oslo, Norway. You can take part. The objective is to enable you to build the next generation photo community marketplace.

We will give you an exclusive copy of what we have already created, namely the Clipcanvas video marketplace, a handsome "start-off" financial funding to get you going, as well as access to what we have learnt about your business in the past 4 years.

This is simply an opportunity, nothing else, and we're reaching out on the MicrostockGroup forum at this moment, just to make you share any ideas you may have to help us determine the interest in something like this. If this is something you want, then let us know why - if you think it is a bad solution, then help us understand why you think it is so.

You say you want to be in control - but do you really? If so, then this is your chance.

BTW - In this respect, I am simply a spokesperson for Clipcanvas. If you think this is something you would like to be part of, and you have some thoughts and ideas about how you might succeed with such an endeavor - please share them with us below.

Cato

(Oh, and a more "formal and open" invitation will be posted in due time, of course. March is still some time to go.)

It's a beautiful shot - for sure! Art is sometimes difficult to spot when you work with visuals 24/7...I am sure you know what I mean :) When it comes to credits - I think each one of you should start using your own and real names....unless, you're a business of course. Why wouldn't you let the client know who you are? After all - you are the artists and creators behind each work. Would you do that? Maybe showcasing usernames is not the best way to go? Would you sell more if you presented yourself as a real person? Would be nice to get your thoughts on this. I made some shots myself. It's not much, but I've always used my own name. Do you think it would be workable to offer more transparency?

Hi - thanks for your comments

@Poncke - Yes and No I suppose - there are two Blackmagic Cameras in the pool, one is awarded by random drawing, and the other is awarded for the best photo to be decided by a jury of 5.

@clapper - Yes, sure it's about building up our social presence, no denying that. "...disguised as something good for everybody else.." (?) not sure about that though - it's a contest.

@trek - Agree, that's a downside. We have got feedback from others that they are not using facebook for different reasons - it's too late now, so we'll just have to learn from this for next time I guess.

Hi ShadySue! Yes, agree about the begging part hehe - that is not the best way to go for anybody :) Also, just to clarify if the text is unclear: you actually do not need to get any votes in the first part at all, and you still have a chance to win. It is not the photo with the most votes that wins. Votes only increase your chances of winning since the winner of stage 1 is selected by a random drawing. Also, stage 1 and stage 2 are completely independent of eachother, you only enter once for both - NO voting is involved in stage 2 whatsoever - it is decided by a jury with real people in it and it is the quality of photo itself that counts. Sorry to keep getting back to this, but I just felt it was important to clarify and respond to avoid further confusion. If you have any questions about this, I will keep checking in to respond. Maybe this is not so interesting for pure-breed photographers, since it is more aimed at the video-people, but I thought it would be of interest to some of you nonetheless. Oh, and yes - the 2.5k sensor with RAW video feed to disk is not a minor development...it is surprisingly easy to use, and depending on the model they come in EF or MFT mounts. A lot of people in the video community compare the development and launch of this camera to that of the 5dmk2 - making video production more accessible, with cinematic image quality and at a price point more people could afford. Hope that helps to clarify a little more.

Thanks for your input Mantis. Actually, there are two stages in this contest. Take a look...I am sure you will see it is not "all about the votes" after all.

@Leaf - thank you, nice to be back too :)

Off Topic / Photo Contest - are you interested?

Fellow microstockers!

We thought some of you might be interested in this, so we decided to share it with you here on the MG forum - hope you don't mind :)

We're currently running a photo contest via our facebook fan-page. It is open for anyone to enter, so if you have some spare time, why don't you check it out?

You can read more about it on our blog:
http://www.clipcanvas.com/blog/win-a-blackmagic-cinema-camera/

Oh, and we got some comments about not everyone being on facebook etc - so next time around we'll launch it directly from the website instead. But for now, it is open and running.

Hope to see some of you there!

Hey Sjo! Ok, this is a little embarrassing, but it seems certain counts have also included spiders and robots visiting a selection of your clips... The good news is this was fixed yesterday, but we will keep monitoring it in the next weeks to make sure it is right, so if you notice anything else, then please let us know.

(btw#1 - Stats have been available for a long time now, but some of you were recently requesting sales history split by each month so you did not have to add this up manually, and we are adding the option to see sales on a from-date/to-date basis, with the last 30 days as default. We are also including number of clips sold and your profit for each period + each individual clip sale, so all options should be covered now. This should be available on Monday evening GMT+1 or Tuesday afternoon.)

(btw#2 - We're getting hammered atm and review times are way up for the past weeks...we know and we are working on it. People at agencies sleep sometimes too you know, hehe)

Sales tip [A13] of the day: first two KEYwords :-)
