Having been free-lance all my life - my suggestion is to find an expert in overseas taxation regulations. (There is a book on each and every country and state in the world - available to Accountants etc). It might be beneficial to have a trust - inside a company.  Also it is worth having an advisor to get you the maximum legal allowances for your work.  Off-setting tax against the 'tools' of your trade. I got part of my home tax allowed as a room was judged necessary as an office and I got travel expenses allowed to see clients and so on.  You need to keep very good records and all receipts.  Good luck

I am often in Barcelona (pickpocket capital of Europe) - I have a bright orange piece of string knotted around my wrist which is attached to a pin in a very loud alarm in my bag/s - (which comes out of the 'alarm' when pulled)   This is noticed by thieves and I have not yet been attacked. Told this to a friend who bought one and when a skateboarder grabbed his briefcase, the fright was so great that he fell off, dropping the briefcase and abandoning the skateboard.  My friend took both back home.... You can't stop the alarm except by pushing the pin back in.

Dear Jo Ann,
I am so sorry to hear your Canva story.  I was going to start there, now I won't.  The 23 other agencies that I upload to are SO LOVELY and kind and helpful - even one Christmas email message was worded so well - it made me shed a tear or two.
I look forward to your helpful and kind help on this forum.

Best wishes for your continued success via your other outlets.

Computer Hardware / Re: Ergonomics - Do you sit or stand?
« on: December 12, 2014, 05:37 »
There are some very helpful simple exercises on Google sites, which do not need special equipment - doing one of these, then another for four or five minutes throughout your day - would, I am sure, solve your problems.  I have printed them out so I can refer to them easily..  I also have a mini-trampoline, which is excellent (see reviews etc., on line) and you can watch TV or the DVD manual or even just look at your photo image from a short distance away...and re-consider it!  Have a good stretch and have a good day.

Yes, I had my first "Fine Art" sale with 500px Prime recently.  An old image closeup texture.  Very easy people to 'talk' to and they are quick to respond.

Just like to say how much I appreciate all the helpful comments from the 'regulars' like Shade Sue and others - and to wish everyone a very happy Christmas/festive season and lots of successful uploads next year.

Hi, I do not, but I saw a post by a nice lady, who said that she had made her own model release and it was accepted by all agencies (she was and maybe still is a very successful contributor).  I contacted her and asked if she would be good enough to send me a copy and she did!  I have since adapted this some more (made a space to add  thumbnail of the image) and collated more ideas from the different sites.

You will need a model release, a slightly different one for minors, and one for property.  I keep translations in French, Spanish, Italian and Catalan and give a copy to my model, but the signed one must go up in English (at least to the agencies I use).

I hope that helps.
Best wishes and good luck.

123RF / Re: Uploading not working???
« on: July 03, 2013, 06:36 »
123RF - I sent them an email about the uploading problem - i.e. not working with Filezilla.  Got a very prompt message back.  I can't find anything except on this site about the wait and for how long  they are "disabling queueing of files until further notice".
I am a newbie on the 123rf site - so I don't want to make 'waves'.
This was their reply......

Hi there,

Thank you for your email.

We regret to inform that we will disable queueing of files to process until further notice.  This due to our new system which has just recently been implemented, once all the technical glitches have been sorted, uploads will be much more stable and faster.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Thank you for your understanding and patience on the matter.

Sincerely,
Best regards, always!

I made a list of all the categories and the sub-categories  - it is a time consuming business entering these.!  As for the new idea of sorting most important keywords in order - on their site it is quite difficult to do.  I put all these in my order on the EXIF, but it doesn't seem to come out in the same order on the upload.  It is not the most user unfriendly site, but it is close.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia FTTP login error
« on: July 01, 2013, 14:32 »
I have had the same problem with Fotolia, Canstock and 123RF.  Always at the weekend - perhaps that is the problem.  I use Filezilla and have for some years - but could not connect to Canstock last week for days.  I had some uploaded, but they were all thumbs and refused.  Thumbnails are not on my computer, as they are with my records on an external hard drive.  It is annoying as the deletes count against my statistics! Same with other files which did not upload fully - sometimes less than half the image was displayed.

I just had some photos - for the first time -  with blue button for 'accepted as free' at Fotolia,  I got 'declined' emails for the same photos.  The reference number was different.  If I click on the photo - Fotolia has a message which virtually says - never heard of this photo - does not exist!  When I clicked on the free photos on their site, the number of downloads was large for each (15 photos - I could not find more).  Can't find anything further on this subject on the net.  Is it worth having a photo as  'free'?  There is a click through to the photographer's portfolio which I suppose is helpful.
Any information welcome.
