General Stock Discussion / video resolution sizes« on: August 24, 2019, 00:57 »
Hey all, had a question about my video resolution on Pond5 after submission, actually on stock sites.
How do they determine the HD size from my 4K footage ? Since they automatically do that. for example, if I uploaded something in 3840 x 2160 pixels, how do they determine what my HD video should look like ? Can I specify what i want my HD resolution should be ? 4
General Stock Discussion / Re: Got sued for images with logo (editorial) ... seriously ?« on: August 23, 2019, 00:39 »I doubt SS gave the airline the photographers contact info. The company probably looked up his name and found his email through his website. Confused here, wouldn't the airplane company contact ReaderDigest, the buyer of this picture ? They will say we bought it from SS, then SS will say we got it from the Photographer ? right? or.. what is SS to do, when they get contacted about a possible infringement ? They state that they do not indemnify the photographer. 5

If you want a quick response, send message on Shuttertstock Twitter account in public, facebook, IG or other. They are more likely to respond there, since it's public and everyone can see whats going on, more pressure I think to respond 6
Newbie Discussion / Re: why can't I start a new thread?« on: August 21, 2019, 22:20 »Hello all. Have been a lurker for many years, just created this account due to the major changes at Pond5 and the possibility of the forums being closed there due to mass contributor negativity. Hoping there are alternatives out there, I think a lot of previously loyal Pond5ers will be looking as well. Cheers to better days ahead. I also contribute to Pond5, never used their forums. What major changes and issue are you talking about ? "contributor negativity" ? I must have missed that. 7

Does anyone know if other agencies follow this same practices ? This de-values our work by a lot I would assume.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Right Managed vs Royalty Free vs Extended Licenses?« on: August 12, 2019, 22:32 »There really isn't a single answer to this as it depends on the license terms and prices at each agency. I am not aware of an "items for resale" extended license going for as little as $2.50 royalty from any of the major agencies. There are some outliers that have experimented with including all rights with any sale at low prices and I would just stay away from those. Thank you for the analysis Jo ann, much appreciated 10
Newbie Discussion / Right Managed vs Royalty Free vs Extended Licenses?« on: August 11, 2019, 20:00 »
Hi all, had a question about the different licenses.
As a creator of content, preferably would I want to sell each video, image using RM or RF, and or in combination with various extended licenses ? I have heard about people receiving up to $2.50 for images, which actually sold for an Extended License and was used in mass producing coffee cups, basically ripping off the artist. Should we opt in to Extended Licenses offered by these agencies ? 11
General Stock Discussion / Re: How many of you are doing stock full-time?« on: August 10, 2019, 23:19 »
it would be pretty difficult to go full time, (not impossible). It would help you have a full time production crew (3-4) people, expert drone operators, tons of models, and money to pay for models and sets.
