I agree MikLav, it seems awfully short sited.

Messing up big time for me. I needed a password reset and now I'm in an infinite loop of resetting my password, but never being able to access my account. Would appreciate this being resolved quickly.

Software - General / Re: Lightroom vs. Aperture
« on: April 01, 2008, 12:26 »
For any image that I want the highest quality and color output in Lightroom, I kick it out as a 16bit, ProPhoto RGB color tag, tiff. I then have droplets do conversions for me if I want or to the point that I want to do some photoshop work before archiving.

For me Lightroom is the way to go, but everyone's needs are different.

Agree completely with what others have already said. Tested it many times over the years and have found Genuine Fractals to be no better or worse the Photoshop. Don't waste your money on it.

Almost my exact work flow Flemish. Though I'm very happy with Lightroom myself and enjoy doing my own tweaks in it.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia launches The Infinite Collection ???
« on: December 26, 2007, 11:05 »
Sorry was away on holiday. How dare you doubt my facts! ;)

In many ways I'm not surprised by this event. Many collections (JI, Corbis, Getty, etc..) are supplemented by other stock sources. No need to cry about the quality, much of what is and was accepted is no better quality wise then what most of us submit today to  Micros. All collections have legacy issues. In fact much of the earlier work is lesser. It runs the gamut at all sources. Anyone who says otherwise is ignorant, lying or both.

The pricing just makes me laugh because it kind of flys in the face of every major stock agency's pitch.  So just ignore that man behind the curtain ;). Now this is not to say that they don't have good work or that none of it is worth the price, but it seems to be the natural trend of where the industry is going. I imagine it will all even out over time and collections will try to promote their "better" exclusive offers.

Interesting this story got picked up at http://www.abouttheimage.com/  I wonder if the original source saw our little postings here?

Interesting the exact dummy shot is from Image Source. It can be found on JI with the small (72dpi 6x8) size going for $129. http://www.jupiterimages.com/popup2.aspx?navigationsubtype=itemdetails&itemID=22670508

Images Source (white):" Simply executed, relevant and extra value imagery from Image Source, the leading independent pan-European producer of royalty-free photography. You'll find images as creative as you are."

Your mileage may vary  ;)

Crestock.com / resubmition/update question
« on: December 19, 2007, 18:11 »
I just had 10 images rejected for lack of a model release. The problem is I have a model release on record and did attach it to these images. Is there a way to simply attach the model release, again, to these images. Am I really expected to reload these files again?

Posted this on their forum, but no replies.

On a side note for Crestock UI, it would be helpful in the tabs field under rejection that there was a number like the other tabs (pending, etc...) so images could be found easier.

Yeah tried last night as well and now this morning. I'm getting this when I hit the submit button: (black & white text screen)

Guess its better then wasting the time of actually starting an upload. Could use some improvement on getting content to the buyer, but I like the simplistic clean graphic style....  ;)

NP, I'll bill you the usual amount...  ;)

Anyone else having issues uploading to "Lucky" Oliver?  ::)

Zymmetrical.com / Re: Becoming an "Artist"
« on: December 07, 2007, 11:53 »
Thanks for the quick response on my question. It seems that much of my trouble was do to certain icons not appearing at the time of my search. On more question, is keywording done after the approval process? Makes sense in a way, but many other agencies do it differently.

Thanks again.

Zymmetrical.com / Becoming an "Artist"
« on: December 05, 2007, 18:14 »
So how does one register to become a contributor at Zymmetrical? I noticed that the search function appears to be working now so I thought I would check them out. I registered and just wasted a lot of time trying to figure it out. Does it have to be so complicated?

Whats the frequency Kenneth?

Personally I would only provide/sell the raw file at a premium. To me it would be like selling off the original film file-in the analog world. I can't imagine a justifiable need for the Raw file unless a complete buy out was in order.

Just my thought.

Well I've never been good at acronyms, but am I the only one that raises an eye brow with the one in this topic?  I have enough fiber in my life thank you  ;)

Well said yingyang.

Now back to the Ellison :)

I found this part of a different interview even more compelling

Off Topic / Re: Best Custom Lab?

Well here in L.A. A&I has always been a leader, though I used to go to Paris Photo (10 years ago) a lot because they did good work and were closer to home at the time. Paris was also an early digital media adopter so it was a better fit for my work.  Now I either do my own thing or go on-line (with my own thing prepped and ready to go).  Maybe someone with more recent dealings can add some detail.

Not to say I'm cool with it, but it seems pretty standard these days to charge an entry fee for contests. Mmmmmm  ;)

Ahhh Harlan, growing up I devoured all of his writing. My favorite quip of his has always been "Mental Midget". A truly smart, intelligent man, with a knack for not being afraid to show his temper.

I can find an umbrella for a dollar. I mean if you're going to go cheap, paint, and.....

With almost any event you will need a wide angle lens. I'm assuming you are shooting 35mm so you're probably going to want to bring along another lens.
