Cameras / Lenses / Sigma 18-250mm for Canon and Extenders
« on: September 03, 2013, 11:33 »
Anyone purchase a Canon or Sigma 1.5x/2,0x extender for a Sigma 18-250 used on a Canon T2i/T3i/T4i/T5i?

Any advice would be apreciated.

I have had a Cannon T3i for two years. Wonderful camera and no problems. I was without my camera for 26 days. When I finally got it back in my hands, turned it on and flipped open the screen I see a very basic summery of my settings. I do not see my "live view" screen as you would. I've tried everything to correct it but failed. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Any advice that anyone can give?

I've had my Cannon T3i for two years. No issues. A wonderful camera to work with.  However, I was without my camera for 26 days. When I got it back in my hands, I turned it on, flipped open the screen, and instead of seeing the   image (live view) I get a very basic summery of my settings. I've tried everything to correct this but have failed.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas to correct this? Many thanks for your input.

Off Topic / Transferring 16mm to Digital
« on: April 28, 2013, 14:35 »
Does anyone have experience digitally transferring 16mm film? I have a lot of material that I'd like to transfer on my own as opposed to sending it out to get transferred.

Any suggestions regarding equipment, cost or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Shutterstock.com / Shutterstock Deductions
« on: December 31, 2012, 16:49 »
I've recently started selling footage through Shutterstock. I am Canadian. Group A2. No taxes should be withheld/applied to earnings, however, my recent payout indicated that $30+ US dollars were deducted. I enquired and the response was that the deductions were applied to footage sales.....This is the only agency that I'm aware of that deducts from A2 contributors for footage sales. Am I wrong? Your response would be appreciated. Thanks.

Shutterstock.com / Resubmitting to Shutterstock
« on: November 14, 2012, 11:55 »
Please forgive me if this is a simple procedure but I need some advice on resubmitting to Shutterstock.

I recently disagreed with a reviewer's reasons for rejecting an image and asked SS to look at the image and provide a second opinion. They wrote back and told me to include a remark/quote from the administrator.

When you resubmit, do you have to start from scratch? Can you not use the rejected image in the "rejected" category?

Where do you place the administrator's remark? Do you cut and paste it into the "description/title/caption"?

Sorry if I sound clueless but your help would be appreciated.

Quick question. Couldn't find the answer in the forums....how do you
re-edit the watermark position in Shutterstock after it has already accepted your image? With thanks.....

General Photography Discussion / What Do You Like
« on: July 13, 2012, 15:26 »
I deal with four agencies: DT, SS, DP and 123RF and I find there are likes and dislikes with all four agencies. I'm wondering if we all pool our "likes" that it might influence the various agencies to consider additions/changes to their particular contributor site. For example:

DT: I like the many categories. I've yet to create an image that didn't fit into the three categories that DT provides. Displaying the number of "views" each image gets is helpful, letting me know that my keywords are working or failing.

SS: I like the fact that SS displays where your image was purchased. The world map is a creative and unique feature that I enjoy. I also like it's analysis of your keywords, especially with spellcheck features.

123RF: Really straight forward contributor page. Simple and fast. I'll often do 123RF first and use the information to add to the other agencies.

DP: Very similar to DT. Good category range. Helps keep the workflow smooth and quick.

What's your thoughts? Sometimes it maybe worth sending out some positive vibes to various agencies and not just focusing on the negative.

General Photography Discussion / 123RF Model Releases
« on: July 06, 2012, 18:30 »
I just noticed I have images accepted by 123RF that should but don't have model releases included with them. Does anybody know how I can attach a model release with an image already accepted by 123RF?

Many thanks!

DepositPhotos / Anyone Else Having Trouble Uploading?
« on: May 13, 2012, 21:13 »
For days now I've had trouble uploading to Depositphoto.
FTP and their multi-load system doesn't work. My only way
is "single" upload and even then their percentage graph doesn't
work.....the upload just suddenly appears. But again, just one
at a time. Nothing else works. Anyone else?

Some of you have a hefty collection of images that generates a steady income. Is it possible to pass on your portfolio to a loved one/significant other if you suddenly become one of the dearly departed? :o And can you contact the various agencies you belong to - to make legal arrangements?
