Video Equipment / Sofware / Technique / 4K settings in Premiere
« on: February 25, 2018, 15:20 »
Hello Guys!

I've recently started to make some 4K videos for stock.
I don't know nothing about video editing so I basically clip the videos, encode and submit.

My question here is: what are the optimal settings in Adobe Premiere?

Here's what I'm currently using... is this too much?
I ask this because after exporting these videos I can't even open them in my pc :)

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards

Hey guys!

I'm on Shutterstock since 2005 and have a 23k images portfolio.
However, about 40 - 50% of it consists of crappy images, entire photoshoots that don't sell.

Do you think my sales could improve by deleting these photos (which would raise the sales %) or this is just a myth?

Best regards

Hi there  ;D

For the past 5 years I've been using 5Ds with the Canon EF 24-70 2.8 (I) to shoot stock, mainly in studio.
Here they work great but when I go to exterior it's a disaster... very noise and a lot of out of focus images.

Since the noise can be a problem from the camera, which it's a shame, specially considering that I shoot at 100 ou 200 ISO maximum, the out of focus is from the Canon EF 24-70 2.8 (I).
I've made a test with another Canon EF 24-70 2.8 (I) and the results were the same. I've tested both lenses on a 6D body and the results were... the same.

So I have to conclude that the Canon EF 24-70 2.8 (I) is a soft lens.
Do you agree?

The problem here is that I'm afraid to go outdoors with this lens, because I simply don't trust it.

So I have 2 options... to change to a Canon EF 24-70 2.8 (II) or... buy a 50mm 1.4 which apart from being a standard lens, is awesome on detail.

So my question to you is...

Is it worthy to try the 2nd version of the 24-70?

Many thanks in advance :D

Shutterstock.com / New photos = no sales
« on: March 24, 2015, 09:02 »
Hello guys,

Since 2005 when I started to upload to Shutterstock I've noticed that new photos always had a lot of sales, and those sales decreased along time.

For the last 6 months I've noticed that new photos have almost no sales at all...

Have you noticed the same thing?

Cameras / Lenses / Excess of noise in 5DMKIII
« on: February 06, 2015, 13:52 »
Hey guys,

I've noticed that the majority of my photos taken in exterior have a lot of noise...

I have a 5d MKIII equipped with a 28-70 lens and I usually shot between 100 and 800 Iso with an aperture between 2.8 and F8... If out of focus is expectable especially at 2.8, the noise problem is not.

Do you guys share the same problem?
Many thanks and best regards

General Stock Discussion / Studio shots
« on: January 31, 2015, 07:47 »
Hello guys,

I have a big portfolio and almost all shots are made in studio with white background.
From my experience in stock photography, and even the fact my earnings are still going up after a few years, buyers are giving priority to the "whole package" i.e. the model into the environment and not "isolated over white background" and that's why i'm considering giving up on my studio. What do you think?
Can you share your experience with this?

best regards

General Stock Discussion / Finding your sold images
« on: December 28, 2014, 15:34 »
Hello guys!
I'm trying to find my sold images, its always fun to see your images being used.

In the past I've used tineye but recently changed to image search by google.
I login into an agency, make printscreen of one of my images and placed it on google...

Unfortunately sometimes the results aren't the best, so that's why I'm opening this topic:

How do you guys find your images?

Many thanks in advance.

Alamy.com / Keywords on Alamy
« on: December 25, 2014, 14:06 »
Hello Guys!
For the past 2 years I've uploaded my content into Alamy but never attatched the model releases or set the keywords...

So I had around 10k images waiting for this process... However when I login in the past days I've noticed that the great majority of these images where set as:

"On sale - add more details to improve sales" and all I had to do was seting the Attributes tab...

The others were, as expected in:

"Images not on sale - please keyword"

The strange here is that considering the same batch, some photos were On Sale and the others don't.

Do you know how this happen?
Many thanks in advance.

Best regards
