Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe stock Account Validation issue

3 Months?! that's ridiculous !!!
Have you tried to post something in adobe official forum?

I haven't, not yet.  Right now I'd rather wait it out and hope for a resolution.  Pissing off large companies seldom goes well, in my experience.

But they should not block contributors with no detailed reason. Just an email saying nothing and ask us to wait, with no deadline. Just sucks

They shouldn't, and yet they can and they did.  I wonder how many others are in the same situation.

I'm in the same situation.  My account has been locked out for three months now, with no communication from Adobe after their "recent sales" reply.  Needless to say, I'm not at all happy with the situation or the way Adobe has decided (not) to handle it.

I got the same e-mail. The problem is, when I try to reset password the "Change password" button with yellow tab is unclickable

Make sure the new password you type meets all the requirements, then tab to the next field.  It took me a couple of tries before the button activated.

What is the certificate of tax residence they are requesting?

I wrote to them about that; a US certificate cost as much as SF owed me.  I was told not to sweat it, that a copy of your ID with an address would suffice.  In my case they didn't even require that much.  They put the payment request in for m and I got the money a few days later.

One additional wrinkle in this story.  I just sent SF the following message:

Quote
I attempted to request payment of royalties on my account.  You now require a Certificate of Residency.  As a US resident, the cost of such a certificate is $85, which coincidentally is the amount of money owed to me.  Additionally, processing of the certificate and mailing it will likely take longer than you plan to be in business.  Is there any less onerous way to demonstrate my citizenship/residency that will satisfy your requirements?

Thank you for your attention.

you don't need to make it as complicated for yourself.. just a utility bill will do..

Turns out I didn't need to worry.  SF Support said an ID was all they wanted, and under the circumstances, they didn't even need that.  They put in a payout request for me, and that'll be that.

Since they added this requirement some time back, I've successfully processed numerous payments by providing an invoice. It's an alternative to the residence certificate and is accepted. You just need to add these details:

TO: Stockfresh.com Kft. Medve utca 24, Budapest 1027 Hungary
EU VAT No.: HU23009701

Hope that helps.

I hope so too.  I'll give it a try.

You're looking for a commercial model release.  The document permits you to use the model's likeness in your projects.  There are a bunch of samples out there.  I use a slightly modified version of a release provided by Getty Images.  It has been accepted by all the microstock agencies I've used it with, and spells out how the model's likeness may be used.  It won't keep a particularly troublesome model from making noise, but should keep you away from any legal action.

Canva / Re: Canva not working? (or just me?)

It's working for me, also with Safari.  I think I've encountered this problem before.  Deleting cookies solved it for me.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Contributors' survey
« on: June 25, 2020, 11:26 »
I did.  As iStock once told me, money isn't what's going to make me happy.  I decided filling out a survey wasn't going to do it either.

Where on your SS account does it tell you what level your at, and how close you are to the next level. Or do you really have to add up each months total sales?

You'll have to add up the individual months' total downloads.  Go to Earnings -> Earnings Summary and pull each month's download count and earnings (to calculate your RPD).  I made a little spreadsheet to make comparisons easier.  Make note of your prior months total downloads so you can just check and add the current month and see how you're progressing toward the next level.

More than biased, it draws conclusions that aren't remotely supported by the facts.  He claims or suggests most of the complaints come from artists with small portfolios or who lack talent, which I would dispute.  He makes the published percentages seem reasonable, without considering what they're percentages of.  He talks about Yuri Arcurs and all the money he makes/made from his photography, ignoring the costs associated with the high volume and quality production operation he ran.  My impression is that when revenues didn't stay far enough ahead of expenses, Yuri changed his operation fast, as well he might.  Looking at income without considering costs gives an incomplete if not wildly inaccurate picture of anybody's business.

None of us could know what the changes meant until they were put into place.  From my reading, those of us at higher levels might have expected a big hit on January 1st but to be okay until them.  Turns out we're not okay, although how bad things will get in January is still an open question.  I'm seeing a 30% cut in royalties right now; what it'll be next year is anybody's guess.  And that assumes they don't adjust the numbers to make things even worse.  I wouldn't put it past them.

14
My RPD is down 40% with the new system.  I'm level 4, likely to hit level 5 late this month.  All but one of my sales since the change have been .15 or below, with most at .10 or .11.

Yaymicro / Re: Yay reopening??
« on: May 28, 2020, 09:36 »
As I am considering uploading.

I wouldn't.  I've had a few sales recently, with royalties between .05 and .12.  I asked them to close my account; the response was suggesting that I upload more in hope of increased sales.  Nope, not gonna happen.

16
Topic pretty irrelevant now, especially considering latest royalties drop.
Any topic is irrelevant.

I can't agree.  Whatever happens to Shutterstock, learning what reviewers will and won't accept has great potential for making us better, more commercial photographers.  Sometimes they get it wrong, but when they get it right, there are valuable lessons to be learned.  Worst case, the quality of work we provide to other, better agencies can benefit from those lessons.

clear your cookies & restart your browser. chances are they upgraded something for logging in, and previous cookies are interfering with that...

I don't think that's it.  I got in first thing this morning, although it took a lot longer than usual.  Then I couldn't get in.  And now it's back to normal.  Feels like something failed at Adobe's end, and it was a little early for their support staff to get in and fix it.

Thanks for posting this.  They sure didn't give us much warning, did they?  Funnily enough, I barely made that $5 minimum.  I got my first sale there 9 years ago, and my last sale 6 years ago.  At least they're paying what they owe; not everybody is that conscientious.

BTW, my March subscription is 0, so that will be really easy to double, thank you canva...

They haven't reported last month's subscription amount yet.  Give it another week, maybe more given the current world situation.

Typical problems that the program solves

    Modifying authors name and copyright

Why would a legitimate creator ever want to do that?

Because the author neglected to fill in the information in the first place.
Or because he or she didn't change the copyright date with the new year.
Or because of a typo.
Or because of an assignment of copyright.

Haven't had a cause to use the last case, but the others are personal experience.

I like to keep things simple.  I edit titles, description, and keywords with Graphic Converter.  It uses simple text fields, so editing is easy.  I keep sets of keywords as text substitutions in the Keyboard System Preferences, so I can type a small number of tags and get the basic keyword sets.  Then I can add keywords manually.

Looks to me like clickhole thought they should be able to use images free. So they decided to make a joke (not very funny) about it. Cheap greedy
people.

I don't believe that.  Clickhole is a humor site, a low rent version of The Onion.  I suspect someone there saw a photo with watermark and thought it would make an amusing article.  I didn't laugh, but I suspect that was their intent.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock's own model release rejected

First thing I'd check is date format.  I've had releases rejected for dates in month/day/year order instead of day/month/year as specified on the release.

A very close friend of mine who also did stock photography passed last year. we used each other as models and did hundreds of shoots together. We often talked about long after were gone our photos will still be out there somewhere so it's what we left to the worl. Our mark if you will. I think it's an honor and a tribute to leave them on there.

...you are profiting from someone elses tragedy.

I can't agree.  You are profiting from their work, and arguably from their life.  But the tragedy has nothing to do with your work together or any profit you may continue to derive from it.  Unless you somehow benefit from the fact or details of your death, it's no different than enjoying the work of any performer who has died.

Feel however you feel, but you're under no obligation, moral or otherwise, to give up work you paid for because your collaborator is no longer around.
