Shutterstock.com / Re: How does this stuff get through?

It looks like the reviewer is an uneducated person. It will be down soon, I guess.
I told you so. Quoting my own post, haha

AI = the reviewer isn't a person, and that's the problem.

They do check, I don't know how much, but I had a rejection for "this image was accepted in error" last year.

They probably just check when someone complains.....

Yep, more chances to make money with the stock than the photos...

Which brings us back to shareholder profit - paid by the contributors.
The moral is, every Shutterstock contributor should also be a shareholder  ;)

I want to be able to set different prices for every one of my pics. After all, contributors are the only ones who really knows what their pictures are really worth.

Try to reshoot the plaza at twilight time, at iso100 with a tripod. Could be a interesting shot...

Cooperatives have never been open to everyone. What defines a coop is its ownership shared structure, but they don't have to be open to everyone in the world.

"Cooperative" means you put everyone efforts in a mutual objective, basically like unions and governments.
Normally like communism, they just don't refuse members... they want them all.

Stocksy look more like a private club to me...

We should have a poll.

How many were rejected and how many were accepted.
how many apply and how many didn't.

Early sales were down this week, probably due to big snowfall in Europe.

I just answered a "exclusive contributors survey".
Basically, they want to know what would make their exclusive contributors happy, and how to attract new customers.

I ask them to show Istock and Getty financial figures.... lol

My RPI is per month... not per year.
Probably the same for Yuri.

Exactly the same effort, skill and creativity goes in to an XS as an XXL so why folks get their knickers in a twist over the size of a download is beyond me.
Money.  My last XXXL was for $27.50 and my last L Vetta was for $33.  Maybe you are getting more than 25 cents but it would still take 100 XXXL sales on Shutterstock to equal one Large Vetta sale.

Yep, size is valuable, ask every womens...

I tell people that being a good photographer is not enough these days, you also have to be a godd photoshoper...

Has anyone else registered their interest by giving their email on the landing page and heard absolutely nothing back?

Yep, but I don't really care...

Stock and artsy:  Stocksy, pretty simple, isn't it?

The best things are, right?

I'm wondering, what percentage of your portfolio will fit their criteria?

Files on Shutterstock can be just removed from sale without removing them from the site. So if you want to try exclusivity, you don't have to quit Shutterstock actually.

I would try for a few month and see what happen, and if thing go bad, you quit exclusivity and  reactivate your Shutterstock files...

I don't know about the others sites though...

If you are not trying to be accepted as a "founding photographer" then there is no way would I let them judge me without  seeing what they are about.   I would rather wait a month or two instead of being banned for a year.

IS had 600,000 files when I joined them.   Monkey business started in 2009 and dominated IS.  I am in no hurry but I do hope this becomes something great for the artist.

Good advice.  Unless you know the types of images they are after - you are probably better off waiting to apply until you do know.

Assuming they remain open to new contributors once they launch...  Weve heard about founding members who might get a better deal.  My paranoid mind can imagine them not accepting new members for a time once they launch to give Stocksy even more of an elite feel.

That would not be very "co-operative"....

If you apply now, you are going blindfold... wait one or two month after opening.
I would wait to see the kind of images they want, and see what stupid thing the Getty team might do against contributors.
