Computer Hardware / Re: Epson 3800 and papers for printing
« on: January 27, 2009, 16:15 »
I'm using an Epson 9800 and most of my customers are getting canvas. Try Epson's canvas, either Satin or Matte finish.
Good Luck,
Craig

General Stock Discussion / Re: Fine art sales
« on: July 08, 2008, 14:06 »
Do you sell your prints in the standard sizes of 8x10, 11x14, etc. or do you sell them at digital sizes like 10x15?  (Are digital sizes even standard or does that depend on whether or not you have a full frame sensor?)

I ask because when I shoot, I like to fill the frame with my subject.  I never think about possibly needing to crop to 8x10.  But now I'm wondering if I'm limiting myself when it comes to selling prints.

I do large format printing and just about all of my customers crop to the standard sizes. That includes customers that have me print photos as well as fine art paintings.
Hope that helps.

[quote author=Freezingpictures link=topic=4131.msg40582#msg40582 date=1207204685One of the negative things about a service like this:  all of the photos have to be ready to print.   Shooting 1500 photos at a wedding and then inspecting each one for colour and cake on the chin is a lot of work so hopefully your session fees factor the time.

The photos don't have to be ready to print. On Smugmug you can set it so when they order there is a delay before shipping giving you time to only correct the photos that they order. I usually set my delay to 2 or 3 days but it could be set longer.

BTW it seems Smugmug is working on implementing something so it can work as a stock agency. But no one knows when this will happen.

I'm with Smugmug and have a Pro Account which I recommend highly. They announced last year that they are working on offering stock photos but  offered no timeline. In my opinion it could be a long time before they implement it. To do it right seems like it would take a lot of work.

If anyone is going to sign up with them and needs there discount code you can use mine   ihjJWx5ZivAO2    it will  save you $5 when you sign up and I get a small bit too.

Is there an easy way to submit vectors to multiple sites?  I want to start submitting vector art to different sites but each one has their own rules of submitting like some only want .jpg to start, others want .eps, another .svg
some want small jpgs some want large jpg's. What is your workflow for submitting vectors to multiple sites?
Thanks,
Craig
