Why is there so much duplication? Many are virtually identical. My eyes glazed over looking at them.

There are still editors.

Anyway, These won't be accepted, most of the places if not all. Saying as one of them. No offence, no hard feelings.

Hello fello photographers,

Happy New Yew Year to you all.
I have a question about backing up my desktop.
I have iMac2017, it is connecting to external drive Element for back-up.
How long should you keep your back ups or which back ups to be deleted? How much memory they takes up?
Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
Sanjiv Kumar

General Stock Discussion / Shutter Stock account closing
« on: May 03, 2021, 03:23 »
Dear all,
Hello from Paris of the East :-)
Closed my account on SS after 10 year. Same issue what started last year with ranking going to zero on Jan 1st and paid 10c. each download. It is crap.
Many of you have already closed your account last year, some were still thinking that since images are already there, no mined to close, may be not upload new material. I was in that boat.
Although I was hanging there for long enough but it's really long now. I don't see me going up on ranking. Might close 123RF as well, I have some issue with them about not corresponding proper if any problem, and sales are dull.
That leave me with DT, IS and Fotolia.

Happy Monday :-)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Silly story of rejection
« on: March 17, 2021, 04:24 »
I had happened upon a popular template company using many interesting images. I thought hey, maybe I should market my work here! So i inquired and sent them a portfolio link.
Between the time they got back to me I saw they had a number of my images already there. I thought, great! I'm a shoe in! They responded with something like your work does not fit here. I thought, What? I already have images there. I responded telling them this. They said send us a link. They responded with a your images don't fit here. What? I thought. You already have some of my images there. SMH You don't want my images but you already are using my images. Confounding.

What are scared of by not telling us agency name? :-)

Dear All,
I appreciate your time for replying on my post. It is really warming to see how some of you care for new comers here.
And for the rest, there is really no need to take out on me, sorry if I frustrate you with my question, may be this is not the right platform for this type of question then :-(  On other hand, you are lucky to have community like this, for reviews there isn't any platform particularly.
Nope! It didn't go to AI
Not eyes or SS either.
The job is still there, being done by someone else. I lost on morality grounds and not accepting new terms :-( Anyway! No point of details.
Still happy to be connecting with you all.
Have a good evening.

Regards from Hungary!

...

I choose photos of commercial valued and give a proper feed back why photos were declined, if asked.

how do you decide what has commercial value?

It's a skill learnt by experience, guidelines from company, market trend and intuition.

Hi,

Stock photo reviewer for a mid tier Microstock website.
There is no CV for it :-(

You know when you upload photos on Microstock websites, and you wait till your photos get approved or declined? Sometime you hate us for our decisions? I am one of those faceless guy who probably loves 100s of your photos and admires, everyday.

I choose photos of commercial valued and give a proper feed back why photos were declined, if asked.

How often or how many downloads, you sell on zooner?

22
Hi Steve and Noodle,

Whats the point of paying and uploading, spending time just for likes?
Just to be in community? OK! But I thought SS was notorious for 10c. but 4c.? Can't believe it :-(

23
Dear all,
Sorry if this question has been already asked here, but I could not find a proper answer.
What comission you make at 500px?  I am building my portfolio on 500px and want to know if it is worth paying annual for awesome or Pro membership? They promise to sell images to Getty! Do you make any money? IF yes then how much for how many images? How much per download? How many downloads? I have portfolios on IS, AS, DT.
Thank you in advance.
Sanjiv

Well, getting unlimited images for 16.50$ / month is not going to get a lot of traction among content creators here. They are together with Envato Elements another one responsible for the race to the bottom. Although I sell some clips through Envato I stay away from Elements.

And about the paying level, if you stay with serious agencies (a few nowadays I know) you should be able to collect those hundreds of dollars you talk about. If you stay with Envato Elements Twenty20, Bigstock, Canstock, etc etc you will always be looking at one or two digits payouts. Up your game and quality and leave those suckers behind. Not a good strategy in the medium long run to stay with them.

Excellent advice. If the OP is wise, he will take it.

Great words! Thanks for clearing clutter! I have been with is,dt,ss for few years and the numbers only going down. There used to be 2dollar or so    per download then .75 then .25 and now stupid SS. Feels like last nail in coffin of stock.
Now, I really am up for up my game, which agencies you recomond? Thank you very much and lets see in 6 months.

Kind REgards,
Sanjiv

You both have valid points!
I do have some ideas but idea without validating and investment are useless. I am digital
image curator(reviewer), I'll be happy to contribute if needed to be.

All the best!
