I wonder why they don't at the least right-click protect the little thums, which I'm assuming was what you found. They should at least make it a little difficult for potential thieves, and maybe make the genuinely ignorant think twice.
Exactly, I agree with you.
Only now I realize Alamy has no watermark protection to small-sized images. By the way, which email do you use to report abuse? Thanks!
I didn't realise until I read your email! I write to memberservices [at] alamy.com. There's no point in reporting abuse as they won't do anything. All I'm doing is checking that they have no record of that file possibly being in legitimate use with an unreported payment. There is one UK newspaper in particular which is famously very loose with reporting uses, and I also found a re-use of an image which hadn't been reported/paid the second time (in an official journalists magazine!). They will chase up - for a time at least - unpaid uses.
I have asked the user where he got the image from. I suspect that the image has been in circulation in various places. It is possible being lifted from a buyer which has yet to report usage. That's why I will contact Alamy. Another thing is perhaps we should all tell Alamy we want our image to be protected with watermark.

I have just discovered that one of my images which is only available on Alamy without watermark, has been stolen and used by someone. Alamy has never reported any sales of this image.
Did you have any experience on how Alamy handles this kind of issues? I am waiting for the user to respond first before I contact Alamy. Because that person may not be the first one using my image.

Istock is picking up considerably for me this week.
Does anyone else see the same?
Exactly the opposite in my port. Very few sales, almost all of which are S.
Interesting. I am definitely having a good week. DLs have been of all sizes and collections.

Nah, not intriguing enough to me.

Time lapse will cause a lot of damaged pixels as well.

Wonder why they don't sue google, who presents said images to the world on a silver platter, too.
If Getty's suit against Microsoft is successful, it will become a precedent. Other companies, including Google, will have to review their practice.

Ill consider the irony in that as part of my missing payment for the 1.3 million downloads getty gave away for free via the Microsoft deal.
Better than if they would not do anything about it.

Has anyone got sales since the announcement?
I haven't seen a single sale since the announcement.

No sales here either.
Some people were just collecting artworks of others. I hope those are the potential buyers. No?

It's similar to favorites. When you look at someone else's work - and are logged in - you can click on the heart on the top right to collect it. On your gallery (profile) page you'll see a tab for Collection nnn (with whatever number of items you've collected).
You can also follow people - I think you get a notice when they upload new stuff versus not if you just collect works by artists
Thanks again! I was even lucky enough to be featured on the front page once. Hope to see some sales.

Another question, I got a notice that someone collected one of my artworks. What does it mean? Does it mean that the image has been put into that person's "lightbox" or "favorites"?

Has anyone sold anything? Yes I have been featured, no sales yet.

I have less than 200 clips, about 3 sales per month this year.

I have actually reviewed my charts yesterday.
No matter how pessimistic I often feel, my IS income has actually been growing at 20-30% on a yearly basis. This year, only Feb was less than what I made in Feb 2013. I upload from time to time, but did not upload as many as in 2011 and 2012.
The higher prices and GI sales have contributed to the revenue growth. The DLs and revenue from IS itself are way way down, of course.

My revenue has somewhat recovered a bit from last year, the number of DLs is way down, like everyone else.
From what I read, I feel we are put on some kind of best match rotation. For instance, my first two weeks of the month is always bad, while others seem to have better sales while my sales are down.

I'm not sure it's launched yet.
I see, thanks! Is it a US company?

Has anyone made any decent sales?

I emailed Alamy over a month ago about a sale in November 2013, which is still not cleared. They have never responded to my inquiry. It is not a distribution sale. Losing confidence in Alamy for sure.

Just curious, what is the cut for stock photo contributors at FAA?
100%, you set your own pricing and they ad 40% on top of that or something. So theoretically you dont get 100% but if you want to get paid 10 dollar, you will get paid 10 dollar. He just sells it for 14.
That is tempting and fair. Let's see how it goes!
