All I can say is that I'm British, and the sooner we are out of this silly, self serving, extra layer of unnecessary bureaucracy the happier I will be.
"Unsustainable" is a word that is often bandied around here.
That's what the EU is.
Yeh, on the other hand do not forget the primary purpose of the EU - which is peace among the member countries. What was unimanigable for hundreds of years was made possible by the establishing EU (or its predecessors). If one of the strongest EU countries leaves and the other follow, wouldn't there be a possibility of future wars again? I say lets reform and simplify this beast but keep it as tool which helps and not tries to rule us...

First of all it was never about the peace, it was about the money and trading...

You are writing about removing possibilities of future wars, man they got us at the gates of the next one deploying nuclear bases all around the place at this same time.

They are reforming all the time and the directions of their reforms are fully and clearly visible, they are kicking more and more people out of their homes , using their money to save the banks that created this situation anyway and the middle class is disappearing as the rich are getting richer.

Well they broke constitutional laws and changed referendum rules just for a single case and pulled Croatia in this artificial union ruled by people who have never been elected by nobody and calling them self democratic. Doing all that with their corrupted puppets who would sell their mothers if they could.

I hope this breaks into peaces sooner the better.
What makes me laugh, is when we kick politicians out here because we don't want them, they bob back up with their cheery buddies in the European Parliament.
As you say, who are these people elected by?

The most important thing is that there is not a single democratic tool available to peoples that can remove members of the European commission from their places, not a single one. They are getting installed by their buddies replaced by them and its all just a theater powered by corporate interests. And when you dig deeper the saddest part is that the places and positions are inherited from their family members from the past that have started the project in the first place.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Warning about Demotix

Legal procedure that should work in general...

1. Write a contract offer, be generous in your favor and certify it by a public notary ( offer them a price per your image they sell online for each day that they have it )

2. State that by the act of not deleting your work in 7 days upon official receiving of your contract offer is a legal confirmation upon agreement between 2 parties.
(same as when you park your car on paying parking spot, act of park is legal confirmation of contract offer)

3. Make sure you have legal evidence that they received your offer (mail with return receipt ) if that's right term in English.

4. If they don't do it after the receiving of the contract and after time you gave them... you have a full legal agreement valid on any court in the world and you just need clear prove they keep the photos and thus agreed on your offer.

5. Then you will need a lawyer so if you are very generous to yourself in the contract offer he/she will probably accept to work for provision and you dont have to invest a dime.

Pretty much sure this will work...

Off Topic / Re: Ireland votes YES for equal marriage !!
« on: May 28, 2015, 17:55 »
@ Lizard

The question was put specifically about "mainstream" religions, and I commented only about them. And it's not necessary any studies to know that marriage predates those mainstream religions since they have at most 5000 years of history and the modern man has tenths of thousands.

If we talk about smaller religions, like the ones from native people around the world, who knows what came first? And it's not even very relevant.

Marriage came up from the need of people (2, 5, 10...) to commit to each other, and religion and ceremonies were just the way society arranged to celebrate it and make it official.

Thinking about it, I do not think marriage came from religion. It came from that need from people to bond and making it official to the the rest of the society. Religion was just used as a seal of approval like in so many other things. For example, agricultures start sowing and the priest is called for blessings, mating season is near and people bless the animals, a ship is launched to the sea and the priest blesses it and so on. None of those activities originated from religion but religion is present in it.

So religion gets involved in everything and some times appropriates some of them. Marriage is one of them.

Actually a lot of  studies about that say differently. When 2 people were in love or boned to spend the life together they didn't have any reason to announce it or talk to anyone about that , first people lived in very small groups and were nomadic so they really haven't had any need about that.

The first benefits of marriage were actually about the power and creating bonds with other strong group of people to make the clan even stronger or uniting clans and the acts of strong and ceremonial announcements were used to spread the word as far as it goes that the members of 2 groups are now joined in blood and united.

The higher the people were in hierarchy more importance was given to the bond while while "small people" were just living together without any need of announcements.

As we know that the man is very social being we can assume that grouping people started in very early stage but on the other hand there were always many puzzles in peoples heads and the toughest ones were always explained by higher will or believing of something bigger which automatically mean a form of religion especially when a similar believe was shared within a group

In my opinion man was more likely to start to think and believe in higher force than to think to officially form a bond with someone and give that bond a name but yet again Im speculating just like anyone else who ever tried to answer that question :)

There's a fantastic positive buzz in this thread.  ???

Ok someone has to spoil the party first ,

thank you for "spoiling" that childish party, after so much "empathy" on the part of all these  "politically-correct" out there, it is good to see that at least some grown-ups are still around as well -- do we all have to part with the rests of reason and promote LGBT and turn right and wrong on their heads these days worldwide, just to please the crowds?!

And what the f*** (or, more appropriately here, f***-in-the.a**) does it have to do with Microstock? Is it just me? Am I missing something here? :) Seriously, folks.

Decriminalising should have been enough -- and it would even have been a good thing, had it not been for the misconception caused by it that now that it is not "a crime" anymore everyone needed to support it...

I have shared a flat with two gays for many years (because I am, or used to be, a naive and open person when I was young and stupid). These clowns are the most intolerant bunch of people you can find on the planet, not interested in anything but their little "special interest" there. -- Just like communists and the usual do-gooder politicians are, in fact, the most greedy on the planet.

Often, things are a bit different from what they seem to be at first sight...

Cool, but no need to thank me on this.

Sorry as I said im not the one who would support the other side radical thought especially with facts that you judge a whole population based on 2 individuals you actually met.

As I said I tend to stand in the middle and be objective on this

But marriage is a religious invention, anyway.
Have you looked at the history of marriage?  I'm not sure what was invented first, marriage or religion?  I have read that it pre-dates all the mainstream religions.

You certainly cannot find relevant and accurate info on that whatever you decide to read but if one things is sure than is that both terms represent strong tools in hands on ones controlling the masses.

Well, I think Sharpshot is right about marriage predating mainstream religions. And that does not need great studies. If you look at the oldest of mainstream religions (Hinduism?, Judaism?) it's pretty young when compared with the history of mankind.

Its absolutely your right to think whatever you want but the fact is that to answer the question actually needs much more than great studies because great studies have never explained nothing with clear facts and pretty clear evidences that are saying different were always just swiped under the rug like a missing link in Darwinism.

Hinduism is actually not at all among oldest know religions, is just largest of the oldest ones that "officially survived" but lets say taht even if it was oldest that what we will do about cults in the matter because we cant even find the core of religions so how can we possibly dig deeper into cults which are way older and more difficult to trace because they could include way less people and they could easily be the ones that implemented wedding as such.

And claiming that marriage is older than religions is actually pure speculation wit not a single evidence to support it that cannot be questioned.

If so...who was the one that could approve or disapprove wedding and who was originally leading the ceremony if wedding was older then religion and cult ?

It had logically be a man of "more value" and adding more value to a man over other man is again form of leadership which with main difference with the animals who pick the strongest leader man tend to pick the wised one and what the most clever trick ever invented ? Claiming that other higher being wants his leadership and that already defines religious opinion.

But the most importantly is the fact that nobody cannot answer that question especially with more and more proves that even mainstream science cannot deny about mankind being way more old that we think.

But for example FAA officially claimed in a forum post I red recently that majority of their sales are happening from google.
That wouldn't surprise me in the least - like you say, it's a totally different market* - though usually their forum claims that most sales are from artists' direct marketing.
BTW, FAA has really dropped in SEO recently. Time was that just about any 'representable' noun had at least one FAA page or file in the first Google page. Not now.

*"I'd like to buy a painting of a horse" isn't really the same as "I need to license an image of a horse".

I'm not saying that no images are licensed via Google, I'm saying that I don't think it's a high percentage. It's just agencies juggling for who will attract any 'new' licencees (if that's the word).

Yes, I basically agree with you just saying I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong because my opinion is based on my personal perception and not on clear facts so I leve the doors open to a possibility that google influences sales in higher % than i would guess. :)

ShadySue , there r many small and medium agencies with sales (exceeding 50%) made through Google/search engines
You state that as if it were a fact, but with no evidence offered to back it up.
But I see now you've moderated the sweeping 'entire stock market' statement to 'small and medium' agencies.

Well I seriously doubt that agencies would be ready to reveal the info about where from are their buyers coming from that we would be consider "evidence"

But for example FAA officially claimed in a forum post I red recently that majority of their sales are happening from google.

Clearly thats not the same niche but i wouldn't be surprise if nice cut of microstock sales happening from google especially in credit sales or EL.

I can imagine situation the someone see an image on google images follows the link and licences the image and I can also accept the possibility that it happens more often than I would guess.

but if marriage isn't about children what is it about? Getting God's blessing on your personal shacking-up arrangments?

I really don't understand what the passion for being allowed to be classed as married is if the legal status is identical with civil unions, which are already available.

Maybe because a civil union feels somewhat like a second-rate kind of union to some.

Marriage is widely considered to the ultimate form of union between two people, strengthened by a marital contract. Which in essence has nothing to do with being parents / becoming a family. Perhaps the church looks at this in a different way, but the church looks differently at lots of things ;)

Whether or not marriage still holds that same level sacredness or importancy is debatable (looking at the high number of divorces nowadays), but everyone should have a right to be married to his or her lover, whether or not you're going to have children or not.

First I would just like to state that more than generally I don't have a single common ideal with ANY single church or religion, quite opposite mostly,  but accidentally coincidence arranged a part of a thought is shared by those institutions and myself in this case but from totally opposite reasons.

I don't know (and I might be wrong even I think I'm not)  but whats the ground on which you base the fact that marriage is considered a ultimate form of a union of two people ?

I mean someone can legitimately claim that the same matter is considered to be an union of a man and a women more widely and that there is a global agenda to warp this institution without any connection to any religious point of views.

Yet again, hey ....why not between 3 people, why not between 1000 or why not between a man or woman and a tree...why to undercut anyone's free will ?

Standing somewhere in the middle in this matter I sure don't want to play the advocate of a radical opposite party against whos general opinions I spoke oftenly and openly and i sure support every mans dream to equality or anything else until its not doing any objective harm to another man.

But then again I don't get it, it all started about equal rights and all well known things connected with that but than in the middle of global success it had to penetrate into
the field of marriage invented by the leaders of same people opposing even to the institution of civil unions which btw bring same benefits as the marriage itself.

Somehow something tells me there are more parameters behind this story and that the whole deal is being strongly pumped and used used from some third group for a completely different purposes.

And to point out where Im standing...well  I have been in the relationship with my gf for a decade, the institution of marriage really don't mean much to me, if i ever get married it will be for the sole purpose of handling messed up bureaucracy and as I'm concerned it can officially be called strawberry cause I couldn't care less.

Brought up the problem on the Fotolia Forum. Maybe we can get a buzz going.

Just added a post on that topic there and of course my optioned out portfolio is on DPC

Well done Ireland.

Now if you'd only extend the same courtesy of dignity and empathy to pregnant women seeking an abortion I'm sure the rest of Europe will cheer you to the rafters.

Im wondering about dignity and empathy on right of a fetus or a new life if you may call it.  Who can be the one to judge when the life really starts and when the conciseness of a human being  is fully formed. Wrong judgment would led to nothing else than a murder of a human being which is not able to defend its interests.

On the other hand there is always an option to give the newborn life to someone who will appreciate it and even an option of changing mind after experiencing the new born, but there is absolutely no irreversible option to abortion.

And yet many women clam they should have never done it and that the fact they did changed their life in the way they suffered mental pains the rest of their life.

What about possible misusing the given option, one example...persuasion of minors by their parents that can be easily hidden in various mental evaluations by the people responsible of approving the procedure or not which can lead to very bad things.

Do I  have to create another account as buyer because their system seams to lead me that way or its somehow possible to use contributors account ...?

Is there an option to convert them or somehow pay with my unpayed monthly earnings , and if its not possible do they by any chance accept skrill as payment option ?

Thanks

Let's examine an open source project without trademark protection:

1) Symbiostock 1.0 is released. As it is licensed under the GNU, anyone can use the code and even sell it.
2) A group of black-hatters take Symbiostock, add malicious code to it in order to collect passwords
3) They release Symbiostock 2.0, call it Symbiostock 2.0, and advertise on Google Adwords using the name Symbiostock 2.0.
4) Users, just like you, purchase Symbiostock 2.0, your passwords are extracted, your sites are hacked, and all your full resolution images show up on free sites.
5) The group of black-hatters stop advertising, close up shop, and disappear.
6) You come to the original developers and want to know why they let this happen.
7) They respond by saying that without trademark protection, they could not legally prevent the sale of Symbiostock 2.0.

Robin.

Well thats only one probable case...but...

What about totally opposite positive symbiostock scenario that has at least same possibility as the one you wrote ?

How can you be sure that somewhere in time a person or a group of people who are going to do a great job for all sides will not show up ?

In what world do you live in. the person making the assertion has to prove his point. And the united states does not use common law. And robin is not telling anyone that they caanot use the older version. in fact he said you can use the older version as long as you want, but there will not be any support from him.

i do not understand why you have such bad feelings for this man, you sound like a whiny brat

Not true!!!

Just sold a 4$ image on CM and I was tax withheld on 1,2$ so Im not really sure whats going on.

My country doesn't have tax treaty with US so 30% on US sale would be normal but 1,2$ is 30% of the whole 4$ sale not on 2,8 that I get.

So or they are withholding 30% on full 4$ price or they are withholding 42%+ of my 2,8$ share.

Im really interested to hear any  thoughts ?

219
I think I am ready to change, I just have been stubborn about it as I think my images are good but I need to realise they are mediocre mostly. LOL. But there is potential in me.

I am ready to step it up, it might take a while to get there, but hey, slow and quality is better then fast and no quality. I might just shoot for micro and high end separately and slowly build a high quality port.

If I want to make some money I have to get better with my photography. Simple as.

I don't know that getting better at photography will help much.  I have over 95% acceptance rate at all sites and shoot high demand subjects and still income going down at a troubling rate.  I read the same from lots of others.

If you want to improve your skills for personal satisfaction,  great. If your doing it for stock income, don't bother.
But if I get onto Stocksy and Creative Market my earnings will increase, thats the whole point. Problem is both agencies want filtered highly commercial images with copy space.  I dont shoot like that, yet.

Some will agree with me some certainly wont so please do find this post my personal opinion and advice.

Forget who wants what, who does what and go out and shoot a lot,and I mean a lot, play with post processing, fill your hard drives with all kind of photos and build an arsenal to play with and to experiment with and compete only with yourself in time. You will be winning all the time for sure but more important, I would even say most important is that you are eventually gonna build a style.

Then start to build a portfolio of various levels, there are crappy low paying sites...well pick stuff from your work which is exactly like that and save your best for the best sites even if it means that something is sitting on your hard drive when it could be making pennies somewhere... it will come back multiple times at a point.

I really believe everyone should rank the sites he submits to at multiple levels and then rank his portfolio same way and pick what goes where and that long term strategies are the best of them all.

The best thing I ever read about photography is about a guy that won some photographer of the year award on bugs photography. He said that he doesn't even consider himself a good photographer and doesn't even like photography itself much. But he likes bugs, from every perspective under every light and that he is ready to wait for days for right moment because he wants to own that shot. But if someone gives him a camera and sends him to a soccer game he will come back with a full disc of snapshots. And I cant agree more with him.

1. You killing the fantastic idea by not supporting any networking features.

He may add them in a later version, and you can still run the older version until he does.

2. You killing the spirit of Symbiostock (free speech and independence) by blocking, ignoring and censoring.

There is no such thing as free speech on a privately owned board. Your rights end when you sign on. He can control what is said and by whom. Can I go onto your site and say anything on your stock site?
3. You killing Symbiostock by claiming Symbiostock is a trademark in your property.

That is is a claim that you have to prove. And if Leo gave him the rights to the name, it is his right to do so.
4. You are a contributor and want only to contribute to your terms?

It is his code and his plugin, and the plugin will work on any other independent site and their is no cost. The hoting is an option that can refuse to do, So why any complaint.
Funny no name/address can be found but the prices for Symbiostock plus are already online.

Can you give me a valid reason, why you require this information?

It may be that you are not a photographer/illustrator but your attention especially is on the monetization?

Funny, you want to use his software for the idea of profit but complain he wants to profit too. That by very definition is a hypocritical attitude.

You have not understood what constituted Symbistock it could have been a revolution! Now it's just your attempt  to make quickly money.
Maybe you should better writing another book...

Your last comment is just an ad hominem fallacy, and shows a lack of character

I'm actually pretty glad this has slowly grown. Not too many people at once...keeps my development controlled and not too overwhelming.

Also I'm quite thankful to those who help. Amazingly so.

Today I'm starting to realize that we're hitting a crucial point -

After I fix this last batch of bugs (the results of the last batch of improvements) its time to let it go and self-develop.

You've probably noticed I put a huge amount of "nature" references into this tool and endeavor. The idea of a self-prolific entity which is at first planted, then spreads on its own - whether it be your website, or this project. That was my goal since the beginning.

I've been very very much grateful for the recent contributions of some development-savvy people. They actually improved your SY experience tenfold and don't even seem to be asking for thanks. I'm hoping that people start adopting various parts of this project and start working together, and systematically working in improvements together. It seems to be happening naturally.

So here is where we are: After this last batch of "serious" bugs (the ones that get in the way of crucial functionality) I'm going to start letting this get adopted and refined by whoever wants to do it - on any level. ...and there should always be something in it for those who make the sacrifice. As for myself, I gave myself a certain amount of time to work with more-than-usual dedication, but my time is starting to run out, so this last batch of fixes which brings us to relative stability is where I will end my daily dedication to this.

This won't hurt anything - It will just leave a vacuum that needs to get filled, and will get filled with people who can use this and develop it to their and your (symbiotic) benefit.

Its been a fun ride! Its a sunny day today! Enjoyed a lot of it, but getting back to some remaining bugs soon.

So what Open Source means for Symbiostock - it means it can be whatever you want to make it from here.

Ok, but I guess those people exchanging comments those competitions or whatever probably know something more because I doubt they are doing that because they like it.

Is there any official reading about what is influencing experience in searches?

There is just one thing i tried, that sponsor page thing, and after the search 3 of your images comes on first page, but on your own computer when you are logged in, when I tried from another place those images were not there but again at 100+ page even more.

So is there a list of thing that help on FAA?

Can someone share something or link to any reading about their search engine...

I tend to stand extremely bad out there so I keep wondering what am I doing wrong because I really feel that at certain searches I should be standing at least a bit more above the bottom :)

I started with zazzle few weeks ago but these days I wanted to finally start uploading. That site is a complete mess judging from my perspective...

First I created few templates to save time, apparently products show up in template after 2 days.  Then when I wanted to use them 3/4 of products that I wanted to create were showing the image that I used for creating template. So I manually changed image on those products one by one yesterday and today products finally showed up...
Tadaaaaaam... all showed up with the image I used to create the template and not with the one I used for the product itself.
That site is so tempting to throw your computer trough the window  ;D so if  anyone knows any trick to make templates work please let me know :)

I'm doing fine on FAA which is  with my best microstock site in earnings and recently started to build portfolio on redbubble.  As I'm setting high royalty percent I dumped society6 in start because Im not interested in anything bellow 30-40% and above 70% on prints and they have fixed prices on mostly everything except art prints but also there they set the canvas prices so you are forced to accept about 10% on them.

Never sold nothing on Crated but I have very limited portfolio there.

It's so quiet here lately...
Btw. How can I upload image now? I just can't find UPLOAD button anymore...

Was wondering the same but actually its even more simple now, just go to library, open media folder and drag and drop images on it. If you created any collection you just open that folder and you can upload directly to the collection folder now.

I really like the whole concept, the look and options of this site and I have already uploaded majority of my portfolio so I hope they will start their business soon.

About that buyers request option from the video that someone mentioned, well I look at that  just as an single option that the site offers ( it really doesn't interest me much personally)  but not at all as a main force of their concept.

225
Im using sequence number in front of each image and store them in folders in which I put 500 files, if i put full portfolio in a single folder it would take a lot to load especially if I want to edit something in some external software which is slow. Also it makes easy to track what have been uploaded where.

I also keep a second copy of full portfolio in a different way , where everything is categorized so if I wan to upload only specific category of images to certain site I don't have to search trough full portfolio but its already been ready.

There a many styles of portfolio management for sure but I adopted this one in early stage and I'm happy with it.

Hope it helps
