iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istock exclusive price rise again
« on: May 02, 2012, 09:38 »
It's okay, Getty will buy SS soon as it floats and have that as their micro site, IStock will be their midstock offering for exclusives only. Watch the skies.

could be an interesting future.....but it's impossible

@juanmonino
last year on 25 and 26 there were fraudolent sales...so is normal that you made more of 300$.... btw also few sales for a diamond like you is worry

iStockPhoto.com / New Getty contributor on IS
« on: December 17, 2011, 08:00 »
seems that there's a new contributor from Getty in the istock agency collection http://www.istockphoto.com/user_view.php?id=8294224  how many agencies still will land on istock?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Sales have tanked big time
« on: December 14, 2011, 04:17 »
istock are pushing now in front of best match the images from the low canister contributor....this explain why the old diamond and black diamond canister are loosing sales day by day about 40% / 50% rather than the happy past years  ???

93
in my opinion istock should remove all the technology behind the ratings and add something for the tracking of our RC....is quite incredible the we don't know in detail how is going our sales and our future ...

this is another prove that istock is held by some idiots that didn't understand the power of worker satisfaction

in this way could afford to increase the RC canister level without having too much discontent

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Buyers Bailing on Istock
« on: December 11, 2011, 08:39 »

I'd love a year without vague announcements, major site outages, 'projects that are good for the company and not for us but about which we're supposed to do back flips'.....just make the site work, let us do our work, with the bar set firmly in a fair position. lose the drama.

Lets hope so. Istock can command higher prices than competition....because of "some" exclusives. When those are throwing away the ring that binds them, that reasoning is over. The trust seems so deteriorated for many that a bone is not going to recover it. If they don't start to improve relations with contributors and attain a reliable site 2012 might be a "complicate" year.
,,
remember that the most of the earnings are made with the non-exclusives....for example : Lisafx, Monkeybusinessimage, yuriarcurs, andresr...
I should not wonder if istock will push in front of research material from which they can earn more..and the price filter is another method to earn more

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Refunds?
« on: December 10, 2011, 17:45 »
could be probable that during maintenance currently on the site and during the past weeks there was a big fraud, using stolen credit cards? ... how if at that time the protections of the site were lowered....just IMHO

Shutterstock.com / Re: Anyone doubting the power of SS?
« on: December 10, 2011, 17:31 »
Hmmpfh. Went to sign up with Shutterstock only to find someone else has already grabbed my brand identity of 'fotoVoyager'.

I'm rather surprised that you decided to drop the crown since you have quite many succesful Vettas.
Bear in mind, Shutterstock doesn't accept modern architecture anymore (you have a very nice series from Valencia).
Also, they don't accept "non-newsworthy" editorial photos anymore. IMHO their editorial program is seriously flawed, they want only the type of images that have a very short life cycle which doesn't justify the low prices. You have very good editorial images, but you will have difficulties getting that accepted on SS. DT does accept modern architecture and "non-newsworthy" editorials but they don't sell so much.
wow !! what a pity !...in the medium term is impossible for to recover in SS or FT or DT what you can earn only in IS...what can i say ? it's an hard choice...Good luck !
iStock's not leaving me much choice in the medium term. I used to sell 150+ images a day, now I'm lucky to sell a third of that. It's a real pity because I like the people at iStock but either the library has become so diluted that it's not possible to be seen in my subject area or they really are losing customers. Either way I have to consider my business first.
