Symbiostock - Suggestions / Re: Keywords
« on: April 14, 2013, 14:21 »
It would be far easier to do this in a program like Lightroom?

Steve

Never use it. Works for vectors?

Symbiostock - Suggestions / Keywords
« on: April 14, 2013, 07:33 »
I don't know if it was suggested before, but sometimes we have several images using same set of keywords. Can we have some kind of bulk action to assign keywords? Or, if we are doing just a single upload, maybe we can have an option like "choose keyword from images" (see image below). Thanks.

With priceless help from SY friends, finally i found the problem.

As I said, in early days of SY, I did several template changes but at that point, I had less understanding of the system behaviour, so I still suffer with changes I made that time.

Like image below, problem was in wrong template. I need to use "customer" but other one was configured.

I'm a clueless, but I'm getting better.  ;D ;D ;D

I think you deactivate the theme, (and possibly delete it)  trash all the EULA;s (after making a copy of the contents) then delete them permanently.  Then reinstall or reactivate the theme and load your data into the new EULA

Ok, i did it. Now i have only one "end user license agreement page". So, now is just create a menu item named "Cart" and link to this page? Below pic of my current only "end user license agreement page" Thanks.

Mmhh.... I don't know how you got the cart page - that isn't in my installation. Did you create that? The one you are looking for is something like Customer license and download management. Is that in your top menu?

The multiple license pages was an error in an older release. You only need one - the one without any numbers in its slug (ie the first one to have been created, not -2, -3 etc. )

If you hover over a link in your site that says "License", you should see the page it is looking for in the bottom bar of the browser - that is the one to keep or recreate if you have deleted it.

steve

I don't know. In the early days of SY, I did lots of mistakes. Right now I running last version of SY.

The multiple license pages was an error in an older release. You only need one - the one without any numbers in its slug (ie the first one to have been created, not -2, -3 etc. )

I'm trying to edit "cart" page and put "end-user-license-agreement", but for some strange reason system change it to "end-user-license-agreement-4". Maybe i need to delete others "end-user-license-agreement" pages?

Thanks for help

I have 3 same "end user license agreement" pages. I did something wrong at some point. We have some way to recover original pages? My trash can is empty.

I like to delete 60.00

Havent you got something in your shopping cart? If you go to the licensing/customer area, you should see it in the cart and there is a small x to remove it.

Steve

Humm... seems that i have some confusion with my pages. Menu item "cart" sends me to weird page.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Blocking Spam Registrations

You'll keep getting them and one day soon you'll be able to boast 300, 000+ registrations! Captcha is one way but setting a trap works well and does not interrupt your customer's experience:

<div style='display: none'> // invisible div within the reg form tags
<input type='text' name='webaddress' value=''> // spammers love to auto fill this in
<input type='text' name='contact' value=''>  // spammers love to auto fill this too
</div>

On the page that processes the newbie registration look for values 'webaddress' and or 'contact' (just examples, pick something that you are not using but is spammer friendly). If these values have been filled (remember these fields are invisible to humans) then the newbie isn't human and can be brutally dispatched and your DB remains clean.

How to edit a page and insert this code? Via Putty and using linux vi ? Via Ftp downloading page -> edit/insert -> upload page ?

Well, it didn't take long! I got my first spam registration this morning - from an address ending in o2.pl

I see these on another site that I have running - I'm not sure what they get out of registration - perhaps they test the security from inside the site and see what they can find?

Has anyone experimented with a captcha type system on the site so far?

Steve

Someone mentioned about listing all members on our sites even if they are not part of our network - I think this is probably a good idea as search engines seem to like links.  If you did not like what someone does on their site you could just miss them off :)

I have used the information from Cascoly's table to create this page and just tucked it away with the information pages sort of out of sight but where search engines might go
http://stockimages.kerioak.com/symbiostock-network-members/

Thoughts ?  (and any corrections of course)

I will do it also. Below my menu item "what's symbiostock".

Thanks a lot Leo - BUT GO AWAY, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE  :) 8)

Leo lives in Hawaii. People who lives in Hawaii doesn't need vacations.  ;D

Also in my main menu now.

143
Yes.  ;)

If  you mean me (text about Symbiostock) thank you, I agree we need to push/mention/advertise the concept.  I "think" I have just finished the text side of my site for now, been working on it again this morning, and need to concentrate on getting enough images up.  If you or anyone else has any comments about my site, good or bad or how to improve or change please feel free to voice them :)

Actually, i wish you authorize me to use the text on my website. English is not my main language and i need some help in this direction. And if i write something that sounds weird, i apologize in advance.  :)

145
I'm sure there's a simple solution to this, but I'm having trouble with my vertical thumbnails.  As you can see, they are much bigger than the horizontal ones.

http://www.hookstockimages.com/portfolio-2/

My guess is that you have set a width size and somewhere need to find a height size when you are adding pictures to your portfolio.  Alternatively if you want to show all your images add an "All images" or something to your categories and see if you can add that to a separate link - I think it would be possible from within the menu area.

Just a thought - your watermark, do you want people to be able to find you from it if it is used elsewhere by adding your web address as well or just leave it with your name as there are a few Danny Hook's if you do web searches

I liked your text about Symbiostock. I'm thinking to create a menu item named "symbiostok" where i will put a text like yours. Really important in this moment reinforce ideia of what Symbiostock is.

146
It's just an exemple. Don't pay attention in menu itens, it's only for test.

147
Just checked it. I do get a page not found, but not for that link. Did you delete the page? Check the trash. If not in trash, and doesn't exist: do a theme activate/deactivate and it will recreate the page.

Also it might help to do that just to solve general issues. It will re-update the proper pages for the theme.

That was my fault...not a bug. I renamed License page and broke the link. oopsie. I did do a reinstall of the parent theme...still broken. :-(

Can you tell me how to check the trash and dump the trash? I assume you mean the site trash, not my computer trash?

Maybe this?

148
Maybe just i didn't know it, but accidentally i discovered how to create drop down menus.

Just drag some menu item below "menu head" (i don't know how to name it). Please see image to better understand. It's easy.

I'm surprised at the poll too.  After the millions of files taken off Istock for D-Day how is anyone making money anymore?

Millions seems to be an overwhelming number.
