Lemme try and make some sense of this all.

Suppose I list my favorite ice cream flavors in the order I like them

1 Chocolate
2 Coffee
3 Strawberry
4 Butter Pecan
5 Cherry Vanilla
6 Frog Flavor

So if I go into a store to purchase lets say chocolate and they have NONE of my favorite flavors
Should I leave the store without ANY ice cream at all if all they have is say Vanilla, Black Cherry, or Peanutbutter Swirl?

Me? OH No.....I came for ice cream, and I ain't leaving the store empty handed.
So what in essence I hear you all saying is because they don't have your flavor, you ain't having no ice cream at all.

Yes I know. But thats been that way for years now.
But FT...."no wait"  "almost instant reviews" will be a novelty for me! Yippie!

Ok I understand that.
But are you willing in the end to admit defeat it it comes to it? I mean before you start uploading again.

The reason I ask is I would like to follow this to the end and see how your actions are taken by the management at FT.

Whoa! This seems pretty RADICAL!
Wow your holding all your new images HOSTAGE!

Are all of you prepared to take this fight right to the very end?
Are you willing eventually pull all your images off the site by a certain date if FT does not respond favorably?
Are you will to stick by your convictions and defend your creative license at all costs?

You do realize that your actions don't make a pimple on the ass of FT's business model.
....that your actions will hurt no one but yourself in the long run.
... FT will never cave in to your demands.
...you cannot unite all photographers in sufficient numbers to make any waves.

We will see just how far you are willing to take this.
QUESTION: If you decide to give up, and return to uploading again
are you willing to post that information too here in this forum?

At the very least you made $3.00.
Had you opted out, the total would have been $0.00 (I recognize there would not have actually been a total available had you opted out)

As unfortunate as it may seem, subs allow our images to come in "second place winners" an alternative no DL's at all.
If you opt out then all your DL's become first place winners. Thats a good thing right? ....Wrong

By opting out, you have not changed the buyers selection habits for his DL's. He will select what he can from a list of images available to him.
Guess what?! Your images are NOT on that list! You lose! Your images have been banned from playing this second string DL game altogether.

I contend that if you "opt out" you ultimately hurt your potential income.

FT is a great site. I receive a lot of DL's there, and the amount of time to process
an image is almost painless, compared to amount of time I put into creating the image in the first place.

I put 100% of my efforts into creating each image, and I pay close attention to detail.
Picking the right keywords, and choosing the right categories, then processing the image
on FT's site is for me like creating a fine "Hand Crafted" piece of art.

There is one other scenario you forgot:
Try this scenario

I am putting together a photo calender  for 2009.

What if I want to steal a specific from a from a a microstock site. So I employ the use of
tineye by right clicking the image. Then takes me to say anyone of 20 websites using this image.
Although none of the images have watermarks, they are all too small for me to print at the current resolutions.

I need to be able to get a high rez copy of the image.
I might try Google images for better success.

You might just consider this a fact of life: that people can steal any photo regardless of how you try to protect them.
There are some deterrents you can use, they are not 100%.

Think of it as decorating your front lawn with some very impressive and expensive lawn ornaments.
So, whats to prevent a thief from staeling in the night at 3am and making off with all your ornament? Nothing.

But however didn't  "We know" this could happen BEFORE we put the ornaments out? And we did it anyway.

lathspell Since you already deleted your account

So therefore your comments are officially "discounted" in my book.
Be careful! If you keep deleting accounts whenever you get pissed,
you will soon find yourself looking for a new hobby.

This is sorta like the golfers I hear of breaking their clubs when they miss that "Important shot".
Cutting off their nose to spite their face.

General - Top Sites / Re: Review times
« on: May 30, 2008, 14:11 »
Although I appreciate quicker review times (Simply because my images are available for sale)
I have to generally agree with michealo "I don't care what the review times are for any site, I just upload and forget about it .."

I upload so many images that everyday new images are being added to my portfolio EVERYDAY regardless of review times.

It appears to me that the only people really concerned with review times are generally amateurs adding images piecemeal
a few images at a time, or once or twice a week or so.
