Right about now, I could use a bit less 'hip and trendy' and a lot more business like on-the-ball IT work done.

I feel it is time we retired the word 'microstock' from our vocabulary, at least as it pertains to iStock.

AAAARRRRRRRUUUUUGGGG!

There, I feel better now. No, actually I don't.
My Dec. was the wost one I've had since going exclusive and Jan. is not looking so hot either.
I am giving it one more month to fix all the screw-ups and then I'm turning in my crown if things are not better.

Ah, yes. But those would have to be property released by the mfg.

So if I'm looking at that correctly, there are only 40 Vetta images ported over thus far?

And yesterday, the slated date for Vetta/Agency images going live on Getty, only 40 of the entire bunch actually made it over.
I actually was naive enough to think that one was going to work!

Oh, how does one see if they made it to Getty?
I see the column and my shots are there... How would I know if there are really actually on the Getty site?

Ah, then that explains it... I am opted out of subs.
Thanks Sean!

Can you tell me where one opts out of subs? I am opted out of partner programs, but I still have a delayed royalty of $1.93 under subs. I was under the impression that one couldn't opt out of subs on IS.
You can't opt out of subs.

Thanks for verifying, that's what I thought.

Right, meant the PP.
I haven't had a subs sale in so long I forgot there is no connection.

Ever since F5 I have had a heck of a time finding where things are buried.
Where does one find the 'delayed royalties' section now?

This just reinforces by suspicion that their programing has been outsourced to India.
Time zone considerations and other factors are making it impossible to react to these failures in a timely
fashion.

ETA: sorry about the formatting, that's what happens when I post from my iPhone.

Many of them eventually were nothing more than labeling the same cars made in the same plants, with different brands.

This is pretty much what I meant.
People eventually got wise to things like a Cadillac Cimarron was really just a gussied up Chevy Cavalier.
You can't fool all the people all the time.

Thinkstock & Photos.com are the same thing re-branded with the same or very similar content.

Coke and Pepsi have lots and lot of different products, not 500 versions of cola.
I fail to see the comparison, sorry.

I changed the title as you are probably correct in that I misread the headline of the news story.

Still given the huge "FAIL" that is the current IS situation, one might think that Getty has thrown its IT resources at the wrong target.

GM used to be:
Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, GMC.

Making one's own competition was considered good
business. In the long run it turned out to be unsustainable.

I wonder if Getty isn't painting itself into the same corner as GM once did?

@ShadySue, I was attempting to be generous.

I have been to parts of the world where the culture is so backwards and the governments so corrupt that it will probably be several hundred years (if ever) that these areas will catch up.

Hardly what I would call developing.
It is a catch-all phrase that elevates those countries where the people have nothing but dirt to eat to the same status as China which actually IS developing at an amazing rate.

I noticed the same thing about the lightboxes when they first did the site redesign.  It seems obvious those lightboxes are designed to promote expensive files, by certain anointed contributors.  If they were a genuine effort to serve buyers they should offer more diverse content.

If Istock doesn't refocus it's efforts on buyers, sales volume will continue to decline IMO.

THX 1138 is a 1971 Science Fiction movie from George Lucas.
That in and of itself should have been a dead giveaway that that the site is meant as parody.

My wife is from a third world country in Asia and I've spent quite a bit of time there.
No disrespect mate, but it is what it is. I don't use PC terms like 'developing nations' because SOME of these places still have 30- 40 years to go before I would consider them developed.
