but i still don't understand why the google images search will affect them that much?

To my understand, if those people will steal the image and they won't buy it at all.

Like they steal the image for their own usage, but if a designer works for a company the designer won't care about spending time to look for a free image and save the money for the company.

I also see a big drop in GL, which i don't understand it.

hi, i wonder what are the advantages getting a medium format camera?

the high resolution may meet some special commercial requirement which need to print it extra large size?

does it share common lense? it seems bulky so does it mean it is usually restricted to use in studio?

I purchased an "open box" Pentax 645D with a DFA 645 55mm f/2.8 lens for $5,500 (the only reason I was able to get it).  Adorama and B&H are currently selling the kit for $8,800.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/739072-REG/Pentax_17971_645D_Digital_SLR_Camera.html

Two months ago the body was going for $9,900 and the lens was going for $1,200.  I suspect Pentax is coming out with an upgrade.  The old Pentax 645 auto focus film lenses work well with the camera.  I purchased 150mm f/2.8 from KEH.com in excellent+ condition for $795.  The crop factor is .78 so the 150mm is 117mm equivalent and the 55mm is 43mm.  I've been looking at this for a long time.

I had been looking at digital backs and I've seen bodies with digital backs used for as low as $8,000 here

hi all,

try to understand more..for subscriptions model business.. Shutterstock won't get affected by holidays since everything had been paid monthly.. but contributors will get affected? since only when there are downloads, we got commission.. on holidays, the buyers will just waive their downloads per day..

am i correct?

Hi guys,

I got this message to my portable harddrive all the time..-Do you want to scan and fix removable disk

it seems if you click yes, it will repair and sometimes some files will be disappear.. as I experienced it before.

if you just close the prompt and it can use as usual.

But what is the right way to deal with it? without the risk of losing any files?

Hi Cobalt,

I find alamy is one of the best submit interface.. there is a batch submit features..just 'manage images' and highlight the thumbnail in same series, 'shift' or 'control' to select mulitple images..and pull to the tab under..

you can then edit them in batch.. I used adobe bridge for my keywords and it import as the third keyword tab..so I usually move them to the 'main keywords' and 'second keywords' tab.

They could at least add check boxes instead of the pull down selections. that would make a huge difference already. And put all what needs to be selected on one large page.

Seriously, the UI seems to be designed to make me waste as much time as possible.

I also havent found a lightbox or gallery tool. I need to organize my portfolio by subjects because I shoot many different themes. And obviously these media boxes should show together with the image. How else can the customer find more of my files?

Nikon / Re: Upgrading Nikon D200
« on: March 27, 2013, 04:49 »
oic..so a DX lense will project small image on a bigger FX sensor..

ha..I didn't really know one has to use different kind of lense on DX and FX body..

Crop view would be what a DX camera would take, Most of the DX lenses will not fill the complete sensor and have extreme vignetting.

For a real explanation read this

what does the crop view mean? i thought there is only 'normal' sensor and 'full frame' sensor..

I saw D800 is almost like 3 times price of D7000.. any features that make it more valuable?

may consider a nikon soon.. i had read some good review of d7000, but how is it comparing to a more expensive model like d800?

and you guys mention something like DX lense.. so there are old digital lense can't use on new body?

nope, DX is the cropped sensor size. they still attach and work, but the camera adjusts and effectively you get that 'cropped' view.
Nikon film camera lenses (all full frame) still work on DSLR bodies, barring one or two oldies. (it was Canon who changed their mount, not Nikon :P)

Hi does it mean the 'gamma illustrations' are from panthermedia?

I saw my image are under that collections too, web price $159 to xl $399, how much one can get from this partner sales?

Is GlowImages or a supplier called "Gamma Illustrations" affiliated with a big agency? I noticed this supplier has supplied one of my images (with my name below it) to GlowImages.

http://www.glowimages.com/

Supplier Gamma Illustrations (featured as a 'collection' on GlowImages):

Edit: I sitemailed them, this particular collection is due to a contract with PantherMedia. They also have a contract with 123RF.

oic..i wonder will my country start tax-treaty with US one day?

My US sales in shutterstock isn't that big portion like in some sites..sites like bigstock and veer got more US sales..

Overall..it is still quite an amount after few years.

If i resident in another country with tax-treaty, can I change my tax profile?

I think it is only US sales are taxed with the 30%..usually in the payment details..it shows an amount of US sales and the tax..

back to the question..is there a way to avoid the tax legally?

someone mention to set up a company..does it mean to get tax in our own country instead of US?

anyone know details?

Yes, thankfully only US sales get taxed. It goes by country of residence, not passport nationality. Setting up a company in a tax-treaty country will involve considerable expense on a continual basis. It's only worth it if you are big stock earner.

i remember reading some comments from the owner of GL here.. saying the google search images had greatly reduced traffic to their sites?

but I am not really understand is it related to the sales..

I always try to upload there if i remember..but sometimes got rejection like we don't need this files..and it seems there are some uploading limits also. It mess it up sometimes when i just ftp and didn't realize of the limits.

Anyway, it is a good sites with layout and interface..just ftp and rest it to them. I did have few extended license sale with them, that's mean the buyers are some honest guys out there!

« on: March 19, 2013, 07:01 »
if not enough of reviewer..limit the quantity to import just sound like forcing the website to grow..

i just joined it and import 20 files a day..so far only 1xx files online.. it just doesn't sound logical and efficient.. maybe they can take turn to review batches by batches..but why we uploader has to 'dance' with them and import the images everyday?
