General Stock Discussion / Re: timelapse fps
« on: December 10, 2012, 00:52 »
what i try to ask is the frame rate of video... not the interval time of each timelapse shot.

it seems in US market most video are in 30 fps? but others are 25 fps?

Is the fps an easy thing to convert?

hi all, i happened just to add some keywords and description to mov files through adobe bridge, i didn't think of it will get read but more like a case to keep the info for the files.

I am surprised it was read by pond5..

today i wanted to add some keywords and description to some mov files, but it seems some can't be modified.

I add them by right click in adobe bridge and 'file info'..but some mov files won't appear with 'file info' option, if i try to add in the metadata panel, it will show a pop up like 'this property can't be modified'.

any one is successfully attach IPTC data for video files?

oic thank you..i guess the contributor referral is life time?

sometimes just find it is a quicker way to ask here..than sending an email to shutterstock.

I have never heard of there being a time frame (for submitter referrals) on Shutterstock but there is for buyers (although i can't find how long it is on their site right now)

Shutterstock.com / referral questions
« on: November 24, 2012, 04:03 »
hi all,

I would like to know if there a time frame for referrals of shutterstock?

like i got someone to sign up under as my referral, but only apply and start upload after 1 year, will the referral still consider as valid? or there is an expired date for referral?

or one should registered again as new contributor?

thanks.

shutterstock is the highest earning for most contributors, unless you just want to stick with istock for some reasons..

or maybe stay with istock for exclusive till your portfolio is big enough.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Should I buy ktools
« on: November 22, 2012, 09:18 »
oic..thank you very much for explanation.

But is it allowed to get a programmer work on the PHP software?I am thinking there should have some kind of copyrights involved?

It is a one time payment for PHP software that runs on your site.  You can hire a programmer to customize features.  I've done lots if my own tweaks to it for features that I didn't like or weren't available.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of code, because it tries to do too much instead of concentrating on being a stick site.  It is also hard to merge changes with new code that is released frequently.

If it were stable, a market could develop for themes, but things change too often to make that work, from what I've heard.  So, you're stuck with the base look, unless you know som HTML.

hi possible to give more details? I saw a lot of themes offer with e-commerce like with opencart, it seems it is a website template ready for opencart system?

issit like those are not really for images sale? like lack of ftp features..or price setting?

I saw there are lots of themes with e-commerce features in themesforest, does it serve the same purpose?

what is a themes? is it something like what k-tools offer?

no! they are nothing like it.. ktools or cmsaccount are the best options out there..

« on: November 20, 2012, 01:07 »
but actually you will be paid like 60% of $365? or if it is through partner then u will get paid 40%..

I waited until the money cleared and I was paid... So it's not a mistake. I sold image BDDJ0P on Alamy for $365! Is this what people used to get for an image sale?? I could get used to that. That's 1000 times what I get on Shutterstock!

« on: November 19, 2012, 12:15 »
i see, i was wondering why there is a site I didn't notice from this forum..since site like allyoucanstock, stockami..all had tried to promote in forum here.

and when i checked it out..i got confused with cthoman website.. ha.

Personally i think it got a good start with portfolio that offer in cartoon style illustrations.

The reason the best vector sites don't show up in the poll results is because it takes a minimum number of voters to get a rating. If there was a poll just for vectors the top 4 and the middle tier would look a whole lot different. I actually asked Chris before I posted about his site. He said he is really trying to keep a balance between building a solid catalog of images and keeping his contributors happy. I like this site a lot.

oic..because your illustrations are so recognizable so i thought you are opening another site for other contributors.

i think your brother got a good start with your porfolio..

$70 sale is good deal, why toonvectors is not listed in the poll results at the side? is toonvectors founded by cthoman in this forum?

it looks a good site with good interface, why a site with potential isn't really in discussion?

No, I don't run it. It's run by my brother, Chris. It's funny the confusion several people have had about this though. I definitely don't have the time or the knowledge to build something like ToonVectors. So despite the rumors, I'm not a superhero.  ;D

Pond5 / Re: No Vectors on Pond5?
« on: November 19, 2012, 12:04 »
it seems those vector are from 123rf.com.

I got 2 raster illustrations sales there recently, and surprisingly got 2 video sales too from my tiny video portfolio.

one thing interesting in pond5 is u can set your own price. But the interface is something they can improve..like too many similar tab, like 'my profile' 'view profile' 'edit profile' 'overview' 'preferences'..i always end up to click around to find what i want.

this is a referral link.

Pond5 Stock Footage

It's so strange. I have just send an email asking why they don't accept vectors. You can find there are vectors file on their database.

You forgot a couple of actual new guys that really are worth contributing to. Stockami and Toonvectors actually are generating regular sales and at higher than average RPD. Toonvectors minimum commission is $14 and I just got a EL for $70. These sites are not contributing to the race to the bottom and the upload to both sites is easy. These are the most promising "new sites" for vectors.

I also like Canstock, GL and Yay. Finally, you are right about Stockfresh picking up in the last 3-4 months.

General - Stock Video / video conversion size
« on: November 14, 2012, 00:55 »
Hi all,

I convert video clip done by my DSLR, which is avi fomat. I convert it to mov format using quicktime, and 95 quality.

I notice the size of video file is jumping from 85M to 139M, why the size is bigger than original file??

Do i need to put down the quality to get smaller file size?
