My Understanding:
Editorial Usage: Image to be used for publication but not for commercial use ( news or website OK, t-shirt coffee mugs Not ok)
Editorial or Journalism image: Image of a news worthy event. Most media outlets don't like many changes to these images.
I think the Image the OP ( Steve) has would be good for Editorial Usage, but not as Journalism. In this case, since it is someone else's art work I think it would be critical to credit the artist in the caption.
BTW my travel stock site is all editorial usage, since I don't have releases of the property and people in most of the images.

I am just trying to understand what I am seeing here. SLAM is showing the requests that the network is sending to your site? Does it also show what is leaving your site? I did see a lot of googlebot traffic on the righthand side....

Personally, I can't think of a good reason for non-exclusives to keep uploading.
For better or for worse, iStock still has sales, even for my (very) small portfolio I can upload to all the other sites, and make no money for my effort, or I can upload to iStock and make some money. 50% of $0 = 0 20% of $1= .20 Until my Symbiostock sites generate the same or better return ( where I get 100% commission) I will put my images and effort into what pays.

Hmmm, ...permission of my WP/SY folders is 0755, files have 0644. Everything works fine here AFAIK.
I have not had a problem with my Wordpress site, but in the past I have had problems with other software installs. It is around ownership. With 755 the "owner" of the folder can access it to make changes, but other couldn't. In my case the upgrader was not considered an owner so it would not work. I do not know if this is the problem here, or how to fix it... just relating an experience I had in the past. There is so much to know, and so few brain cells to know it with...

Yes, your network is getting stronger and stronger by new sites being included, which brings new possibilities how to take advantages from that strong power Symbiostock networking brings. But I guess it would be also good if you had something that will motivate people outside of this community in promotion. (Through I am not sure what it should be, or how it should work.)
The Roots of this are already starting to take shape... in the Marketer setting. What I would like to see is sites that curate the network. For example if I run a site called "best nature image" and I spend the time and effort to find what I think are the best nature images on the network and publish links to them. The problem is check-out and payments. We need a code warrior to come up with a way to use paypal's split payment system to send percentages where they should go.

English is my first Language. I also teach English to non-english speakers. I am great at spotting mistakes in other peoples writing and spelling but always miss my own mistakes. Please point them out on my site(s)... I am sure there are many.
If you really want to help the Symbiostock Network, what we need is some press releases/ PR material that we ( individually and collectively) can use to send to news sites to get the word out.

If you are having this trouble set the folders to 777 do the upgrade THEN SET THEM BACK .... 777 gives the world the power to change everything.

I just posted this project on Freelancer.com Symbiostock is a network of Independent Stock Photographers http://www.symbiostock.com/
Being creative people, we are good at some things ( photography) but bad at others ( marketing ourselves)
We need help in promoting our individual sites, as well as the over all network.
as an example of the type of sites...my site is: http://stockimages.glennspecht.com/wp/
What I would like to see is someone develop a system that individual sites are marketed, and the network marketed as well.
This would be an on-going project with payment coming through Paypal from the Individuals as you perform tasks for them ( press releases etc.) You can set the prices for what is required and asked for.
You can drop in to: http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-seo-marketing/Getting professional on-going help is something I am interested in... let's see if this get accepted and if there are any responses.

Create a ton of great images that can only be found on your site or a few trusted partners.
"if you build it they will come" I am not sure if this is true in the digital world of today. Promotion is the key to any business ( and the main thing I suck at) Connecting with buyers and potential buyers of your images should be the goal of your marketing campaign. In this thread http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-seo-marketing/advertising/msg322752/#msg322752Tinny and I bounced around ideas for press releases, but I tried and failed at putting a couple together.

I was thinking the saem thing... and a quick search didn't show any articles on this topic.

I am in the process of setting up my People site(s) peopleimages.grsphoto.ca
I have some fine art type nudes I want to put up on the network as well.
Would the rest of the network ( you) be happier if I created another site or should I combine them with my other people images
I don't have many (<50) so I don't know if a separate site would be worth while...
What are your thoughts?

It may be confusing for potential buyers to have many different versions on many different sites on the same network.... but really who reads licenses anyway and how can you track and enforce them?
I think I will keep mine simple, straightforward and fair.

You may be able to add and adjust this in Yoast's SEO plug-in.... there are pages there for adjusting how your URLs look, but I have not played with them much

Thank you. I think we should post the link to the github site in many places... we don't want people to get discouraged when they decide to play...
