This is a great post. A good set of dedicated plug in is necessary also to attract more developer.
At this moment the plug in that I really want is an amazonS3 connector. To me is:
1) Time saver. I can set up how many websites I want, and upload the content one time only after that the only thing to do is link the sites and the buckets through a dropdown men.
2) Bandwidth saver. File stored on amazon decrease bandwidth usage.
3) Hotlink protection. The download expires and the link is valid only a time or for a few hours/day or whatever we want.
No problem to pay for this plug in.
Other things are also said,
-theme responsive, google will demote site non-responsive.
-show more picture per pages
-RM and Extended License
-Dashboard to manage statistic of sales and users.
-Coupon
Minor feature, the ability to show a download counter.
Someday maybe, more payment gateway.

Yes, search in forum and you can see at least a post by serban (CEO of dreamstime) that stated the same things, about the bad consequences of new google image search. GL, for the first time an agency don't punish contributors with a cut of earnings. I think that this is a good thing.

Nikd90 back up is a must; without it you can lose all the data, practically the whole site if something goes wrong. At least if your provider does not provide an automated back up you can use a wordpress plugin or make it manually. In the end all that you need is to copy your data and trasfer it in local. http://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_WordPress_FilesThis link it is enough thought to understand the basic notion.

I doubt that Bebbe Grillo live in Italy, not this Bebbe Grillo. 2000/10 means 200$ and no one gain this amount it's a joke. And 200$ are less than 155 so I think that Bebbe Grillo are kidding us, or maybe is only a nickname but he live in another country.

I would be quite happy to include a hybrid type licence
If a client is willing to pay xxx I will remove it from sale for x weeks/months/years
If they want to use it for more than x number of sales they pay extra
If they want to use it for z they pay the fee shown
I am planning to try and have a lot of my images only selling via my own site which will make this easier than if they are listed everywhere and competing against each other, and ultimately I think it might lead to Symbiostock's success ?
And this need some effort, a license for those things can't fit easily the needs of all. I'm thinking about the license and I'm not sure how to set up the things. I think that sort of chance must be clear for customer; they must know that they buy from the copyright owner that can help them to get what they want. People must know because for them is better a network curate by author instead of agency, so maybe we need not only a license but more messages to make clear this things. As cascoly said a liberal license with (I would add) some paragraphs that stated these possibility through negotiation is better than a rigid(?) license.

Again cascoly I agree with you: "RF doesn't have to mean cheaper" and absolutely agree with the first part of the post. We tend to consider "standard" license that aren't so. Other licenses can inspire us, but as cascoly stated best approach to me is to have some common rules and then in respect of these, everyone can customize. Leo remember when I emailed you the questions for the interview? While I was writing, I thought the flexibility of selling directly; I also put a note, almost a motto in the bottom of the mail: Symbiostock! Buy from the copyright owner, highly personalized service, flexibility, fast support.An example of flexibility. A customer needs an image for a project and doesn't want that the same image is used by a competitor. In all the agencies this is a real problem. But if we selling directly, we can say: the image has zero download, you can pay (more) and I deactivate the image you want six months. So how this deal can fit in a general license? I think that we need some guidelines but then the licenses will be customized by us according to the needs. Mmmhh... maybe is it possible in a upcoming release to have the number of downloads visible close to the pictures? Maybe as an option to turn on/off

Perhaps can be useful, but at least this is a process that everyone must doing by himself. I say this because I think that all us, must choose where and how to place the write. In my blog every photos has the write, in future I'll change it, (less distracting), but for example I never put it in the bottom where can be cut easily. So at the end the risk for you is to have more request to refine the process to fit the need of all. To do this we need a plug in for watermark or put the write before loading the photos on the site via photoshop gimp aperture etc. To me is important the write " www.xxx.c" the metadata are stripped easily, I pay attention with the images, and more time pass, more is the attention. In last days The UK parliament approved the new Bill about the copyright and is a panic law http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/copyright-in-gb/So if this is a simple thing to do OK, but otherwise don't spend much time in this. My two cent.

Only parent category, otherwise the list becomes useless. At this point a botanist can easily put a lot of pages between Latin and common names. We don't need a CV in this case.

No, jeanclicclac I don't think you've overlooked something. I'm used to tag as much as possible not to put hands a second time to things. For example, in wordpress there are plugins to show on the home page sliders with images. You can choose to show only images of one category or all categories if you set. If you visit the site in my firm, you can see that something like all category in my shop is the digital download. In the future, in the megamen under the shop i can put another cathegory named print (at the same level of digital downloads and extended license) where I can put the image avaiable only for print. And so on, in the future I can create other root category in example for vector footage etc. This allow more order and coherence to the theme.  Note the frame below that without the parent category print and footage are less understandable. So it's only a choice nothing to do, but is something that I do with in mind future develop. Hope that is clear what I wrote....

Jeanclicclac I don't know if you want that, but maybe you can create a category named i.e. "all images" to browse your portfolio only by determined category.
The archive page show the first standard post of worpress delete it!
