Every time they announce another "famous/faboulos/lobotomious" accumulation of livestock or iStock lipse I daydream to be on the opposite site of the world...  ;D
It's only faboulos if your name comes out of the yellow bucket and you pay the ticket price, arrange your travel and hotel accomadation and pack your camera gear.

I've been away, but just to check - this time there hasn't yet been any official mention of forcing paying 'lypse attendees to make their work available via the PP, has there?
As the event is a joint venture between Getty/Istock, all Milan content uploaded by the attendees, will go to the PP.It's in the site mail acknowledgement, when you ask for your name to be entered into the draw, by Echodelta.
What has not been stated is how many places are available.

I applaud the Best Match sort on Istockphoto. It keeps the search fresh for designers and keeps fooling 1000's of contributors who have not got a clue on how it works !!!!

105
I have an opinion on this matter.I shall post it tomorrow.I'm tired and emotional.I need to sleep !

Ohh, breaking news. When you wake up, don't forget to tell us what you intend to have for breakfast., and what are your feelings about that.

Yeah Shanks, we wanna know what you had for breakfast and how you intend to spend your day in the forums. ;D
A nice cup of tea and slice of toast is just the job to start a new day.See how i mentioned a 'job' in that sentance? I do actually have one and it takes up 38 hours of my week( mon-fri).I am now in my 26th year with the same company!.You no something else i enjoy it because ever single day is different.I also take my camera with me most places and shoot stock in my lunch break. The thought of ever being an image inspector makes me go zzzzzzz.

106
Awake and refreshed....
It use to piss me off that admins on Istockphoto would have there files accepted on the same day as they uploaded them.I said as much in the forum.I got slapped with a wet fish under the premise ..they earned that right !
I always got the impression, self inspection takes place, for a certain few of the staff which is quite understandable if there job is inspection.
A lot of inspectors at Istockphoto are artists in there own right and it's one of the reasons they are picked for the content team in the first place.
I made a lightbox some years ago on Istockphoto.....''Inspectors Delight ".It's packed with quality photographs which i admire.
I must be mellowing as i get older as i'm not concerned now that staff are also contributors. Also the fact that i met some of the inspectors/admins early this year in London and they turned out to be normal decent people who i hope to meet again in the not too distant future.

Best Match is very relevent for the buyers and Istock as a business. We(contributors) have no say or control over any change.Off course we notice and comment on that change, especially if the sales wane, but i have never noticed any ill effect on my beautiful crafted imagery.
Think posative and some content might surface that you forgot about...Cream always rises.

Master baiter.
I use to call one of our teachers that..Mr Bates.I had to squint to read your reply  :D

Is it just me, or do most people need a JJRD translation filter? I asked for clarification on a phrase, and he basically says it was clear the first time. I'm afraid to ask again, because I've already been accused today of not being "nice."

Member Bortonia will be present in Milan. Her presence will be for a good reason. As yet no numbers have been given to how many places are available for photographers/video or indeed illustrators. What i can tell you from my own expierance is everything will become clearer given time. The London Lypse was really well planned and went very well for myself and the majority of people i spoke to at the event and afterwards.
JJRD speaks very clearly IMO and Echodelta did leave wink after her comment to you in the Istock forum.
Keep fighting your corner as i'm sure they are listening !

The Best Match sort on Istockphoto has a particular aim which never wavers..It's to give the buyers a good mix of content in there search results if they stay with the sites default.

Can we please drop the fiction that best match has ANYTHING to do with what buyers want?!  Buyers want good quality images at reasonable prices.  What Istock's best match has been giving them for a very long time now is good-to-mediocre images at exorbitant prices.

Surely none of us really is naive enough to think, at this late date, that the best match is anything other than a way to put the maximum amount of dollars in the coffers, regardless of buyer's needs.
What's up with you !
I think Best Match is just that for the designers who spend there money at Istockphoto.

I have been uploading continually since becoming a member in November 2007.I have never noticed a huge drop/rise in my sales because HQ decides to alter/tweek the search results.I have enough diverse content uploaded over a period of 3+ years to be covered by any change.

Well i hope the interest is still there. Not sure why they would limit the lypse to just europe/russia members.Video does not appeal to me but if chosen from the bucket i will listen to what they have to say and i might learn another function about the Canon 5D11 .

A social=A person with an interest in photography can approach/chat/interact with members from Istockphoto content team.Ask for an autograph if they so desire  ::).
Social means ANYONE !!!
As to what that social shoots in her/his spare time is entirely up to them.Hire a model/location or just shoot editorial.

$500 for Lypse ticket to Milan
$0 for Lypse ticket to Brazil X 2.
Not sure i follow that logic but my names going into the bucket.
The total amount of attendees will be matched by staff. They get more staff there by calling them on assignment. It's pretty straight forward logic really. These are the guys and girls who Istock are assured of in respect of getting good sellable content from the event.

Brazil Minilypses x 2 (Sao Paulo and Rio de Janiero)

Count me.. out. :)

PS: It's Rio de Janeiro   ;)

You should really go and meet some Istocker staff/contributors if you live there. The content team might work for Istock but most are talented photographers in there own right and are so friendly.
I really hope to meet  a few more in the coming years.

havent you got that madelaide aint exclusive??
A person can attend such an event even if not exclusive at Istockphoto.

Contributors  are obsessive by nature in microstock. They are often under the impression there next piece of work is going to make them $1000's.
If a company rejects a few a contributor might venture into a forum and let rip......
Just chill and go with the flow.....

General Stock Discussion / Re: Bad July sales

Pretence!

Once there was a media-mogul, he did everything in his power to make his business go bad and bad to the point where staff, etc, just packed up and left, didnt even wait for bonuses, nothing.
There was however a sinister method behind his madness and actions. He wanted to amalgamate his overseas businesses into a new Corp but without all the hassles and troubles from thousands of staff and unions for that matter. Stating that everybodies life would be so much better in the new company.

He purposley made life misserable for just about everybody, in the end people around him couldnt stand him and his cronies, they left or didnt care.

Then when all was quiet and nobody really didnt care, he made his move. I guess its not too difficult to know what that company was called? I said was called because two years later he went bancrupt for billions and preceded to take his own life. Too many debts, bailiffs and lawsuits.

The boat he fell from was named after his daughter.I was once having a lovely lunch in Marmaris harbour/Turkey and the waiter pointing out to a beautiful yaght.Maxwell, maxwell's boat.It was as wide as a football pitch.I was impressed .

Hopely June payments will start to get added to our accounts this weekend.Hoping !

So the Milan Lypse is going to be photos. No mention about editorial which is slightly surprising. The good news however is that Milan looks a cool city to take some fine editorial photos. It's an ideal situation for socials attending the event to enhance there portfolios.
Start checking hotels and flights.....
