Thank you Jo Ann and Wilm. I was in fact doing very well in the German market and whenever I tried english keywords it didn't do well at all in the algorithm, because international buyers were more likely to be shown images from their own currency's area. That was changed with Adobe.

Back to the problem: thanks Mat, but right now it has completely changed again. The translation is working again, which is good, but the algorithm was obviously radically changed. For keywords to which I had several images on the first page, I now have none. I think they are tweaking things right now and hope it will become better than it was before.

Again, I can't speak to the algorithm here as I'm not aware of any changes, however I can say that if your content is region specific, such as travel, cuisine or tradition, you should add metadata in the local language assuming you are fluent. If the region is irrelevant to the content and you are fluent in English, then index in English and allow the translator to do its job. If however, you find that you need to use Google translate or are uncertain about your English fluency, you should always index in your primary language.

But do NOT do it for countries, which are not supported by Adobe anymore like all poor countries especially Moslem countries. So even your travel photos from Turkey will not appear in any search, if the customer does not change the regiion on the very bottom of the page - where nobody will find it and usually nobody knows about it.

@Matt: This time you will answer?
(Sorry, but it hurts me each time again when i read about this region selection which IS discriminating!)

It sounds like you are misunderstanding the way search works. If you upload a photo taken in Turkey and you are in Turkey, there is a chance you would not see this image in search depending on the subject matter of the image. However, the image would still be available in most other countries and can be sold.

-Mat

First of all THANK YOU for your first reply, Matt!
Joe Ann and others did their research and wrote about their search experiences in this case. So, I do not get, what you, Matt, write about the search results.
Do you mean that, if logged in in Turkey, Trukey related images are much more showing up than for example in the USA? And that is the reason that our Trukey related images might not appear. Or they appear, but because of to many from that subject, they will be not shown up in the top? With other words: If I am logged in in the USA and search for Turkey related images, then my images might showing up much higher in ranking?
What I (and many in the past already either) not understand, WHY MUST BE there a difference?
But I stop asking about this, because it makes no sense.

As expected: No answer from Matt :'(

Hi Guys,

I am located in Middle East and I see that my sales are very, very low comparing to other agencies. I can also see, that my portfolio is not visible from different parts of the world, so I think I am experiencing this amazing Adobe region restrictions.

I have few questions:
1. Did anybody try uploading the pictures using VPN so Adobe cannot recognize the region? Did it help?
2. Did anybody see any difference after moving to different region? I am planning to move back to Europe and I am thinking if my portfolio is linked to Middle East forever or if the location change can help?

TIA!

VPN, good idea, but it would not helpt to get already uploaded images appear - only the new ones.
I left Adobe for that reason and now ALL my images without needed keywords regarding Indonesia appear everywhere and got sales - via Wirestock!
Deleted on Adobe, a day later uploaded to Wirestock. That easy!
Best: I get at least more revenue via Wirestock because of the levels and all many of my editorials got accepted from Adobe and sells even better than commercials.
Best sellers from Singapore: Not surprising in case of that crap region thing.

And Matt again will not answer here!

2. Moving back to Europe:
My suggestion - if you still want to keep selling directly on Adobe:
Find out, which images not appear now: Mark them in any way - maybe put them all in one collection on Adobe.
Then, after reaching Europe: Open a second account located in Europe and doe this:
Delete all from your collection and upload them again via your new account.
It will be fast and easy, if you have the keywords saved on your PC. Even copy paste could be an option.
Benefit beside: Your moved images will get a fresh start like new uploads!

Since 6 month or on I concentrate on POD sites. Then I came back to wirestock and uploaded 180 images at once as easy submission. Only 20 got accepted! I never had that bad result! Well, then I found out about all these issues mentioned above. Now I am waiting until everything goes again like before.
I am not sure, if I would upload any easy submission again or not. Because in the past already it was like this: With keywords 90%+ accepted, easy submission mabe 60%, So the 40% I even have to keywording myself, upload again and 90%+ of them got accepted.
I can understand that the are lazy to keyword stuff they might think does not sell well, but that is and cannot be their mission! There should be not that big difference between keyworded stuff and easy submitted stuff.

Photo Critique / Re: What to do with these photos?

It looks as if there is electrical light in that cave. If you paid an entrance to get there, there may be legal problems with selling the photos there.

You should also learn to select. Having 3 good photos on a subject is better than hiding 3 good photos in a group of 50 less god images.

Unbelievable that after that long time another advice coming up here. - Thank you!
Legal problem because of entrance fee? I never thought about that! Well, not for a cave wall. Yes, I paid entrance and yes there is electrical light there.
Until now I did not try to upload them anywhere else. I just forgot them. And yes, not sharp enough at all.
On other stocksites I would send indeed only 3 or 5 of them. On P5 I did not care. Most are crops from only 2 images, turned around and so on, to get an idea how customer might use them as room view (better: way through a cave) - that was more for me I guess LOL

Disable images is NOT the same like delete them! They are still there! Can activate again, if you want to.
But in case you want to delete them completely, you cannot anymore. Well, I read somewhere, that disable them and waiting 6 month, THEN they MIGHT getting deleted. But I am pretty sure, DT would ask you to activate them again or make sure they should get deleted.

There was a time you really were able to delete images, which did not get any sales last 6 month, but not anymore.

I asked DT some month ago:
I wanted to delete the older ones step by step and upload again via wirestock for some reason - well the 100 $ payout reason LOL.
But they told me then, it would minimum take that 6 month of disable the images before they get really delete and if I upload them via wirestock before that 6 month are over, they will get not online because of doublettes.

So I decided to upload more on DT to get my payout maybe earlier.
THEN - and that was the second advice from DT - I will cancel my full account and it will get much faster. Maybe after one month or so I can upload them again via wirestock.

# It would be also insightful and fun if you could see in which country the sale was made. Maybe something that Adobe can think about sharing as well in the activity overview? #
[/quote]

Then I would have evidences that my photography never will be sold to Indonesia because of this s....t regional thing! :-[

No suggestions? :o

To be honest:
If I were not somebody selling my photos on stocksites, I would not know the meaning of royal free!
If I would have to search for FREE photos as a customer - better consumer - without my knowledge background as stockphotographer, I would think royal free means FREE.

It is little bit similar to contracts: Who reads that small letters/text in contracts? So I am pretty sure that many many customers just take that royal free images and think they are really free to use. -Especially on FREE PIC and free images Sites. Their names already move the consumer in the wrong way of thinking!
I am also pretty sure, if the stockphoto industry would have taken another word for that royal free images, there would be much less using the images in a wrong way!
unlimited use price would be much better instead of royal free.
But nowadays everything has to be named something with FREE because all people are expecting things for free and search for free things.

Without any information from eyeEm to the artists, I just found out that eyeEm now also offers big subscription plans and so follow the trend of so many agencies.

I just got a sale via Getty with a revenue of 49 or before tax 58 $, which means somebody baought it for the full price of 499$ on Getty. eyeEm got the 20 or 23 % from Getty and surprisingly I still got 50% from eyeEm. However: I was thinking about leaving eyeEm after their new payment structure, because eyeem itself seems to sell nothing and that new cuts from the already low % from Getty makes it not worth anymore to upload to eyeEm and hoping to get it on Getty market. now I was happy that I did not leave them and got a 49$ revenue, which I for sure would not get anywhere else. But still disappointing: 10% from the sales price.

Now this new subscription which means cheapest sales price for 4.50$, means for most of us a revenue about 1$ instead of 25% from 29 or 99$.

Pond5 / Re: How has Pond5 been in 2021?
« on: October 16, 2021, 02:24 »
Please correct me, if I am wrong:

I changed from non exclusive to exclusive some month ago and moved all my videos from Adobe to pond5, where I follow the partnership program (maybe I remember the wrong name of it). Which includes Adobe and as I know/think many other agencies/partner from pond5, which I would not reach, if I am not following that program and beeing non exclusive. Am I right?

I ask this, because some artists here say, sales on Adobe via pond5 reaches in lower revenue for me, which i think is right. But I calculated that the other partners might at least compensate it and makes it at least better for me. Right?

Why I am asking:
If I am wrong or get enough arguments that I should better upload to Adobe and pond5 (non exclusive), then I might even better upload all via wirestock. Okay, the videos I am now talking about I keyworded myself already, but maybe the exposer from wirestock will be better than my few videos now (less than 300).
And for future uploads I can let wirestock keywording them.

What are your suggestions?

Yes. 30$ is right!

If eastern Europe is one of the banned regions, then might be not that much banned.
Banned most are regions from Moslem countries and poor regions. Or with other words: Not effected are all from the USA, rich European countries, Australia, Singapore and so on.
Its just simple:
Countries who (are able to) pay monthly for any adobe software are not banned, but these rich evangelist christians also cannot see the photos from that banned countries - well they might be able to see 5% selected.

I checked:
Upload via wirestock and take out every keyword which shows that my photos are from Indonesia, a poor Moslem country, are shown as usual! But when I still had the exactly same images - also without keywords from Indonesia on my own portfolio on Adobe, they were not shown.
If there are keywords from Indonesia it does not matter, if on your own portfolio or via wirestock: They will not come up in search results.

It is so stupid to say that it can be solved by changing the region (Mat said that). For what making it such difficult?
Well, they reduces the offered images for software users to a minimum and now also try to offer them as much possible for free.

Adobe is not caring about stock photos, but only on their software products.

41
Let's not forget that Adobe is, most of all, a softwear company and their main goal is to sell their softwear subscription, not stock photos.

So, when they say that offering free images was a success and has driven more customers to their site, they don't necessarily have to mean stock photo customers. Just a thought.

I can only talk about my port and my sales, but I certainly have not seen any increase in sales on Adobe for the past months.

I think exactly the same!
It is all about getting more software customer OR: Already excist software user getting free stuff, so that they will continue to use it instead of moving to other but free software, which is not that much worse. With free photos by just clicking inside the software makes it nicer than other softwares, where they still have to search for photos - could be Adobe, but no must.
So, if Adobe says they were sucsessful, then in kind of software.
Stock photos are only a means to an end for software sales. Sorry, last sentence is google translation.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Wirestock - sales dried up
« on: August 22, 2021, 03:07 »
Do you think the sales numbers are lower via Wirestock, than than would have been if you used your own personal accounts at each agency?
Thanks to those of you who answered my question.

The reason for my question is that I'm considering deleting my files on SS, and upload them via WS instead. After a necessary wait of course.

But if the general feeling was that sales are worse via WS, I wouldn't do it.

For now, I think I will upload new files to WS, and by the end of the year see how they have done.

If you move your photos from SS to SS via WS you should have in mind:
As older your images, as more often they could be rejected now cause of the AI review process on SS.
With other words: Newer Images which passed via AI will be pass again. Rejected ones - as mentioned from others above - might get accepted now, because more accepted images via WS.
I luckily moved the most before the AI review and got most of them accepted again. My last batch - well they were indeed the worst ones in case of motifs not in kind of quality - most got accepted and some got sales directly and funny: also instant pay to SS (3.83$ each).

Image Sleuth / Re: Another blatant thief at Shutterstock
« on: August 17, 2021, 15:02 »
"dedicated attorneys that could sue and make a permanent work of watching thieves around platforms/world, but would be lots of energy, time and mostly $$"

That is something the Microstock companies should provide since they get 80% of the sales. Not the contributors...

Totally agree!
We have agreements! For what the agencies - sometimes before each upload -asking us, if we upload our own content?
So, if we do click yes, but it was stolen work from others, then there must be a strict reacting from the AGENCIES!
Like always and everywhere and in all kind of topics - politic, business and so on: The small people without much power have to pay the most - not only because they are more! The powerful rich people can pay helpers, who find tricky ways for not paying tax and so on. Some agencies are doing the same: NOTHING! And who wonder that SS is on the top of this?

44
Absolutely. Very well said. I was also surprised how unwilling are many contributors to see what's going on, not just about free images, but other issues as well.

Interested to hear the 'other issues'   :)

For me, big issue is selling our images on partner POD sites without telling us how much we actually earn per sale. Yes, I have read somewhere Mat's answer that we are getting 33% of amount that POD site paid to Adobe for each sale, but we don't know how much it is. So theoretically for 100$ worth sold product we could earn couple of cents. That was first reason why I started giving up.

And this too: https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/adobe-stock-announcing-pro-edition-for-creative-cloud-for-teams-and-enterprises/  Now everytime I see custom download I am wondering was it Pro Team or Pro Enterprise license, so they can use my images for whatever they want for couple of cents or dollars.

Regional policy so many images are not visible in some countries and in other countries is still not possible to buy web subscription so they certainly won't buy AS images: https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/is-there-a-proble-with-adobe-stock-website/.

Invitation-only policy for premium images and templates, so regular contributors can't participate even if they are good enough.

I think I covered everything that bothers me, but many other contributors don't seem to care or at least they remain silent. If I remember something else, I will let you know. :)

In most cases an themes, we get directly answers from Mat. Thats what we like from him. so we do not feel treated bad from Adobe, because of Mat.

BUT: All issues mentioned from Lina, were already published and critisized from many different forum members here. But we did not get any - or only rethorical no means - answers, even from Mat.
I am pretty sure that adobe forced Mat, not to answer or only give that no means answers. I asked Adobe support directly too, but same not satisfying answers as well.
Their class systems by premium and featured artists and on the other side treated bad low end accounts, and that regional thing, which only discriminates these regions, mostly poor or Moslem regions, makes us feeling that Adobe is God and decides, who will be accepted in their previleged group and who will get send to hell.

Thank you Lina for your new try to force Adobe to clear the situation and give information about these cases. But do not expect them answering here. They will NOT. They hide themselves back doors like big Mafia bosses do/did.

I mentioned before that Adobe goes the way of different classes:
first class, second class and regions.

Yes, seems to be one new focus from them.

But the special keyword is not shown in the published keywords on each photo of this group, right?
Because I just tried to find out which keyword they used, but no same keyword on that promoted photos.

Why I remember Getty and iStock in this case? Deleting accounts if you have the same photos on both sites.
Why I am remembering SS, who prefer to delete the accounts of the copyright holder instead of deleting the accounts of thieves?
And so on!

In which world do we live?
Well, business is indeed the worst side of communication. Do not trust anyone, but deal with the devil, if you can get a benefit from it. There are no friends in business life.

So, publishing the video here: Only Adobe could make you problems, right? We are afraid to publish truth and the big Adobe (who seems to be the bad boy) and all the others will fight directly with unfair tricks?

MAD WORLD!
BAD WORLD!

CTR file? I am having trouble with the vector eps files, do you mean raw files (the other option for additional format on Dreamstime)? Sorry, not sure what yoy are asking

yes, RAW files

48
Any via Wirestock already?

Just curious to know:

Did you ever had a sale of a CTR-file? Is it worth it to upload them?

Print on Demand Forum / Re: regarding POD book publishing
« on: August 11, 2021, 03:01 »
I did not vote, because it depends on the real name.
In your case, Martha:

Novel + POD + needs a serious name.

Martha Marks is a great name for it! ;) So - in your case - I wouldnt change to a pen name. Or you should publish them here and maybe your idea of pen name is nicer.
