It's only 7 days, give me a break on the bad month already.

We all know that for the Holidays it's going to be worse, last two weeks of month with New Years will drop like dead zepplin. January is one of the worst months. Misery loves company, we all know what's next and it's coming soon.

Dec 2016 above Dec 2015 but big day on the 2nd. Make New Years predictions not sales predictions,, day by day we don't know what will be a big day or average day. If you do, you are the first ever.

Even if it's beggining of the month, you can quickly see pattern. If first 7 days are bad, it's not too much chance that your going to have best or good month.

How are your weekends compared to rest of the week. 1st was Thursday. Of course the first 7 days will be lower then if the 1st was a Monday! Let me say, first 7 days included Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

OK  :) Happy grouch is that better?

Dec. so far has been a weekend. 20% down, from what? Very low sale. Bad since July. It started off really well but kinda quiet the past few days. This december is the best.

7 days including a weekend. Are Friday and Monday best days of the week? Weekends are worst.

Give it a chance. That's what I say. Gets much worse in two weeks.

Talk about too much analysis with little data.

Some On Demands, one 4K video sale, so it's a nice start of the month for me. Not in terms of download numbers though.

How can you know that a video sale is 4K?   I don't see the size at video sales

FT for sure is going to top SS this month. Great month for FT so far, while SS is tracking 15% lower than normal. Probably related to whatever is happening to the search/missing images in portfolios.

Commission of 50-105$ (at least that's how I call it a 4K sale).

Oh dear! I visited a private forum this morning with lots of professional assignment and stock photographers. If any consolation I can say that most people there are going frantic calling the SS earnings for the worst ever. One guy with over 100K files had a day of $.9!!
Now if that happened to me after 12 years and a portfolio of that many files I think I would quit actually because I would take it as an insult. I mean they are showing a steady quarterly increase all the time so the question is where on earth is the money going? since nobody here is really showing an alarming rise in sales nor money.

On the whole I think we might look upon ourselves as not too hard done by comparison to people like that. :)

Something strange happens... Yesterday I sold  only one picture, and today, by this time, same - only one picture.. Yesterday and today is week-end for SS ???

Edit: I just received 1.58$ for one SOD.... pffff....

Everyone concentrates on the number of files at SS but no one gives a stat on the increase in the number of contributors in the past five years.  SS is doing fine, the pie is just being divided up into many more pieces.

Well stated - a true fact !

SS is now my third best earner in the business....

That doesn't explain sudden drops in sales, one month good, next month 50% down...

Oh sure you are right of course and another mistake is to always quote number of files and quantity instead of earnings?  we always hear of so and so such and such have millions of files instead of earnings.
I know some people with only a couple of thousand of files and because their portfolios are very special and niched they earn far far more then quantity portfolios.

You hit that one. We can't explain but people keep trying to invent reasonable reasons to explain. Some invent unreasonable reasons, excuses and accusations that the sales are manipulated by agencies. Share the wealth or sell new lower cost pictures or some other reason why it's not fair and somebody else is getting better treatment.

We can't explain. I can only reason that competition means dilution of sales and lower income. All the rest is just conjecture and guessing. Unless somebody has proof of the claims beyond, other people say they see it too. People claim to see ghosts, it doesn't make them real.

I thought the problem was spammers being in front. Any other wild guesses? More contributors means more files, they are the same problem.

Looks like SS took down all most of the spammers. I was following a few portfolios with high ranking images that had spammy titles. They're no longer showing up on search results and their portfolios are gone from the site.

I think many contributors will see a small sales bump next week.

I'm waiting? Or is this meaning Dec is going to be better with less spam titles? Where's the bumb.

Nice pick up this week on nearly all sites - Alamy, SS, FT/Adobe and DT as well as POD sites. An EL on SS yesterday was icing on the cake, though I don't like the lower price ($16.99), however it's nice to know that image has earned me over $630 on SS (and a couple thousand $$$$ elsewhere). November, usually a really good month, was so poor on SS that December has nearly beaten it one week in. Not jumping for joy here, but relieved to see things pick up at SS, including some SODs as well as the EL.

...me too. Oh, well....do with or do without? I guess I'll have to settle with "do with" and move on.

It was a sale in the $50 range, so that can only be a 4K sale.

There is really no good way to tell.  I've had videos sell for around $100 that are not available in 4k.  The only way I know of to tell if it was a 4k sale is if you make $59.70 because that is 30% of the listed 4k price.

Me too^ dozens of videos sold for over $.100 and not 4K. I dont remember the exact percentage but 90% of video sales was still 1080HD or something like that. There was a thread over at SS during summer highlighting this.

Getty btw hardly ever sell 4K and thats strange considering the kind of buyers they have.
