Someone is upset SS detected some of his AI images.

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/ANKON+KUMAR+SARKER

Interesting profile, a pink flower that looks clearly AI and a macro honey bee shot that looks totally out of place from the couple of terrible mobile snapshots making up the rest of it.

Heres another rocket scientist on the group...

Posting a question about how long it takes to review images whilst showing thumbnails of stolen images.

Just 1 example, the Railay Beach image was uploaded by a Thai guy (makes sense) 2 years ago and reused by a few dodgy SS accounts.

https://tineye.com/search/1433a4f3013a3ecf252a678c91efb09c2a2e633b?sort=score&order=desc&page=1

Waterfalls photo in there first appeared on Twitter in 2017.

Tents and palm tree, freepik and Bigstock 2019.

Can anyone find this guys actual profile link?

How do you go about reporting infringement without being the copyright holder?  Email?

...How do you go about reporting infringement without being the copyright holder?  Email?

[email protected]

I last used it just under two years ago, so not sure if it's still in operation. They have email for DMCA notices (which I've also used) which might work for other purposes: [email protected]

I was once told you can only officially report an infringement issue if you're the original copyright owner.  But I suppose you could bring other cases to their attention informally.   Whether they'll listen is another story.

You can't file a DMCA takedown notice unless you are the copyright holder or representative. But you can, and I have, reported a portfolio full of stolen work to SS compliance and had the portfolio taken down.

When I wrote I gave them half a dozen examples of the thief's image on Shutterstock and the original elsewhere. The last time I did that was in the fall of 2020; no idea if things have changed since

According to this, anyone can write in with information:

https://support.submit.shutterstock.com/s/article/How-does-Shutterstock-investigate-infringement-claims?language=en_US

"If you are not the copyright owner to content you believe is being infringed, please write in to [email protected] with the following information:

identification of the original works you believe are being infringed (website URLs or Shutterstock content ID numbers); and

Shutterstock content ID numbers for the content you believe is infringing.

Please note that Shutterstock requires both sets of information (original vs. allegedly infringing) to adequately investigate infringement issues. We cannot fairly or accurately investigate problematic accounts with just screenshots or account names; we require information to specifically compare original content to infringing content. Shutterstock only requires a few examples to make an assessment of problematic contributor accounts."

I've reported a few recently, but there's a lot of dodgy Shutterstock accounts here if you have time to kill :)

As a matter of interest, do you receive any response to your emails or do the portfolios/images just get removed? I haven't heard anything back in over a week.

Thanks for the info. I just wondered if they would reply to the email or just process the information, but I'd never hear back. I bookmarked the account I reported, so I'll check it again in a few days.

Another account(s) where i suspect they're working together.

One of them was dumb enough to post "look at my image" onto the FB group.

An image of apples.  Which "similar" immediately showed was a cropped image of another account.

His account contains almost entirely stolen images.

Further to that the second account ALSO contains mainly stolen images and that image is actual a 180 degree flip of an image belonging to a 3rd account.  Which also contains suspicious images.

Are these individuals with multiple accounts or an organised group working together to game the system?

Great, and also the portfolio I reported has now gone. It's good to know that action is being taking. I guess all we can do is keep reporting.

Certainly might be a bit of that as well but there are clusters of dodgy accounts all using the same stolen images which suggests they obtained them from the same source at the very least.

If only Shutterstock ran a check of new images against already accepted images it might actually find some thieves.

This guy is good.  Lots of "River in nautral of the amazon" and hand sanitiser

People from Bangladesh naturally travel all over the Amazon, from boats on the water, high above, on the land and the air to shoot.  ::)

First 40 are flowers, then suddenly it's 100 "river in the natural of amazon."

Then he changes to "Mountain river water landscape."

Original? 20,179 images. https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/view-typical-wild-river-green-pine-2009031563
Super Firoz copy 290 images  https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/mountain-river-water-landscape-deep-forest-1749824036
Copy of the copy, this guy has 3 images  https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/beautiful-river-mountain-scene-1649531152

Now look at the file numbers.

I started off last night reporting one account then fell into the "similar images" rabbit hole for 18 further accounts before losing the will to live.

I only go a case number for 1 of those 18 emails too. (the auto responder).

Havent even bothered looking for the original source yet.  And as per usual, the similars reveals 3 or 4 other stolen image accounts using the same image.
And again, Pakistan.

Shutterstock really is a sewer of theft and zero enforcement.  If anyone has 5 minutes to kill, please report this one.

I took a look at some of the images in https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Super+Firoz and saw that two of the other "amazon" images that are listed as similar have now been removed

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/river-natural-amazon-1746903971

But a google search on that image's preview found that it's in Moran State Park and comes from Unsplash!

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Forked_waterfall_%28Unsplash%29.jpg

Although the link in Wikimedia says the file doesn't exist any more. The image is all over wallpaper sites, such as

https://www.goodfreephotos.com/united-states/washington/other/beautiful-small-waterfall-landscape-in-moran-state-park.jpg.php

Come to Shutterstock - best collection of highlights from free wallpaper sites and nearly 1 million square, wonky, AI generated amusements. Step right up...

They're just not minding the store any more - that business they were once in, that is...
