Hello,
I've just received(like you?) this email from SS :
Want to learn how to improve your photographs for stock and receive live feedback from the Shutterstock Review Team? Join us for the ShutterTalk Live Image Critique on Tuesday, August 18.
If you have an image that you would like critiqued live, please follow the instructions below:
Submit up to three (3) photographs
Submission deadline: August 1
Please send only content that has never been submitted to Shutterstock
Photographs only (no video, illustration, or vector)
Please include your last name in the file name
Participants will remain anonymous within the presentation
You do not need to be an approved contributor to participate
Upload critique submissions here.
Submissions will be chosen by the content review team in advance and shared during the live critique presentation. Images will be critiqued from a quality, legal, and commercial viability perspective. Submitted images will be used for critique purposes only, and as with all content you submit to Shutterstock, our TOS applies.
Don’t forget to tune in on August 18!

Presumably someone who already submits to SS, or has been approved to do so.
Please send only content that has never been submitted to Shutterstock
Ooooh, cheeky; it would have been far more interesting, and arguably useful, if people had been able to submit their rejected images, as complained about on other threads.
They clearly put that rule in to sidestep that issue!
Without that, it looks as though the critique is mostly of use to wannabes.

I don't think so, approved contributors can contribute, but it's not limited to them, so wannabes can submit too.

No. An approved contributor is someone who has passed the entrance test. You submit ten images; if seven of the ten are approved, you're in and can now submit work for sale.
Put another way, if you have work for sale on Shutterstock, you are by definition an approved contributor. If you haven't been approved, you can still submit photos for this evaluation.

HAhahahaa, are they kidding? The most incompetent Reviewers of the industry wanna teach??? How about a voting system to get them fired? Or maybe we should consult SS how to inspect images?

Much more fun would be if you could submit a best seller, a reject, and an accepted but never sold image and then they could critique them without knowing which were which. That I would watch.

the best solution is to expose the rogue reviewers. ask ss to have every reviewer have their name on every rejection they made. then, it won't be that difficult for IT to find out which of these is really atilla and brood.
but it's ss , i won't hold my breath for any transparency. only a woodcock would believe nothing is wrong with the review system ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I thought that the word 'contributor' was for people who have work for sale.
Anyway, my opinion is that this message is part of new strategy of SS.They want new contributors to keep their first place. No just quality, but quantity, more and more.So that's why they want to teach more to newbies.
Someone asked it in another thread, what is better for SS : 1 good contributor or 10 average or lower earners ?
Plus, with this strategy, SS can :
-Divide and Conquer
-Use algorithms (don't forget SS are coders) to check new 'standards'.
SS is micro, not macro.

Yes, but your communication said, "You do not need to be an approved contributor to participate", so people who are already contributors and people who are not (yet?) contributors can take part.
