Ya can't blame them for not trying ;)

I reveal my identity only to Leaf and the Agency but I might put it up when I'm a more established contributor (in 25 years or so)

Leave it alone Wut, these kind of threads always seem to turn out the same way, no use because in the end it's a discussion (flaming) between us contributors instead of agency/contributors.

Take care and have a good weekend all!

ps. Wut, Leaf, where do you guys come up with these names anyway, I feel like a bloody kid replying to those names, WHY CAN'T PEOPLE USE NORMAL NICKNAMES!!! haha ;)

I completely missed this post. And that's exactly what it turns into, every single time. Why can't ppl just share their experiences with SS reviews? Especially those in the last weeks.

Wim doesn't sound any more normal than Wut, to me :P

Actually Barry says everything is OOF.  Almost as much as Jens used to say everything had noise.   ;D

Everything does have noise!

Now to the OP. Stop whining or let us see a couple of 100% pictures.

Hi Jens.  Many of us still miss you on SS.

Not all.

Let me guess, you guys hang out in the SS critique forum and offer workshops or have aspirations of offering workshops!

Nope.  Just guys I know from the SS forums.  Comment is an inside joke.  As to aspirations, I don't have any beyond what I'm currently doing (retired and loving it).  I taught photography at college level for several years.  Don't any more, don't offer any workshops nor do I have have any plans to.  I'll post a critique once in a while if I think the OP shows some talent, but that's about it.  Nothing regular.  I'll let the others speak for themselves as to whatever their aspirations may be.

All XXX was doing is what i am sure most of you all do as well except you dont do it here or on any other MS site because of some reason unknown but you are probably doing it on the side on some other Blog you have or Facebook or even Flicker so big effn deal!

Transference of your own desires is the logical conclusion to such a bizarre assumption about the rest of the members of this forum.

You really do not have a good sense of who participates here if you can visualize them lurking on sites such as flicker and facebook ready to highlight and then monetize on the inexperience and technical prowess of its members. Chaps who also have aspirations to "teach" are usually the most vocal supporters of said practice.

Hm. Maybe I should offer a workshop here.
What about photographing caterpillars...? I can teach that.

Atila the noun (or something like that) is supposed to be back, I couldn't stand her/him already in this forum and I didn't know he/she is a SS inspector. Their recent reviewing standards are the lowest, as in worst in the industry. Be strict, but don't reject the whole batch for focus issues since they're tack sharp at 100%. With such reviewing policy, they won't last long on the top, they'll simply run out of the best, new material, library will get old. From what I've heard they're deliberately letting only crap through. And it looks like that if you search by age. I'm so * pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your point? That reviewer could be very much related to this topic and also the reason I started it.

Now that I know who you are (kind of) from the Bring Back Jens threads, and I don't have a clue why they actually banned you, all I can add is... Phlange.  :D

I believe the point being made is that threads are locked because of personal comments and the items in bold are personal comments...   :-\  I don't think there is any relationship between the Atilla that frequents this forum and the mythical SS reviewer.

Grrr ... strange rejections again.

My latest batch on SS (after 9 days): 13 images -> 5 approved - 8 rejected

Why ?

Same images on:

Fotolia: 12 A - 1 R
Istockphoto: 12 A - 1 R
Dreamstime, BigStock and DepositPhotos 100% approved

I have an approval rating of over 80% in all my 8 agencies. (from 83,4% IS to 99% DP).

We must be getting different reviewers because I would guesstimate my acceptance rate at well over 90% there.  Why don't you post a couple of examples of rejected images here and we can give you some feedback.

I have found Shutterstock to be a very fair company.  It's hard to look at your own work with impartial eyes.  If you didn't think it was great you probably wouldn't have submitted it right?

I haven't run into any problems either, Mat. SS is the most consistent reviewing site I know of.

The reality is that MS is moving more and more to only accepting high-end images, and farther and farther away from basic, and conceivably acceptable images like isolations and other non-electric images.  It is interesting that this came up.  I know of several photographers, including me, who have submitted very nice natural images of nature, mouintain-scapes, etc. But the rejections are "please look at what is in our database....and it's by in large nothing more than fancy HDR images, nothing naturally lit.  Basic MS is fading away. Images have to be something special, more than every day reality...for the most part.

I think you are correct Mantis. I only had 1 rejection in the last batch, and it was for "Too many on site--We do not need this image at this time." Which was absolutely true. Darn hay bales with goldfish jumping over them...  8)

I would imagine, editing/reviewing is going to get a lot tougher!  with agencies around getting close to 20 million images  in files,  well you know, they just have and can cater for everything.
The days of the generalist or generic photographer is over, dead. Its time to set the mark and specialize, thats the only shots that will get through.

I just had a batch approved at SS (after not uploading for a few months) and I didn't notice any change in their acceptance. I got all my pictures approved, even though some of them were not 100% perfect to my own standards.

Of course 1 batch after a long break isn't much statistics; but not hearing many other contributors screaming about tough acceptance I would guess the problem is more likely with your images rather than with SS.
