i contribute on SS for 11 months now.... in the last 3 months a new type of sale appear at SO section; the $16.80 single & other sale. I have tried to find what type of sale and what rights that licensee entitles ( on forums, SS site etc.) but no success.

I believe is some sort of EL stripped of some rights or is a regular EL license for high volume buyers at a special price.

Anyone know more about this particular license???

Nik

It's probably this licence:

Quote
A license without a sensitive use option.
For individual images downloaded under these licenses, the contributor will typically receive a royalty of $2 to $15 or more, based on the cost of the license and the contributors earnings tier (20 to 30%).

The sensitive use doesn't explain why I sold a picture of an office desk for $97.33  ;)

I sold dry river bed for 75 USD. I can live with that it even if use is extremely sensitive.  ;)

I am OPT OUT from sensitive use.... so is not a sensitive use license....

I just want to know what rights are granted for this type of license and what is the sum that the buyer pay for it...

Scott????

Yes i know in many cases the sales are not related to the sensitive use.... but i really, really do not want to see my wife or a close model of mine on a building poster or advertising  as a victim.

If SS will enable the opportunity to grant this type of license PER IMAGE i will gladly shoot specially for this type of license.

It is what is known as a SOD (single or other download) here is from Scott and there is a thread on the forum about this somewhere.

Hi All,

When you receive a high royalty for a single image, it is because the image was sold under a license that offers the option for sensitive use. That does not mean that the use was a sensitive one. The majority of these images will not be used in a sensitive manner. However, such use is a possibility. Unlike some competitors, we give you the ability to opt-out.

High royalties are often the result of a prenegotiated agreement with volume buyers such as large advertising agencies. These volume buyers may require additional license or workflow features, such as the option for sensitive use, indemnification, multi-user accounts, prenegotiated pricing, and special billing and workflow features.

By opting-in to sensitive use, you get access to all sales made to these buyers. By opting out, your images aren't available to buyers who require the option of sensitive use.

Overall, these sales are a great opportunity to drive additional revenue to you and we're excited to make them available. Smiley

Best,

Scott

Since most of us here don't work at Shutterstock we couldn't tell you what the image will be licensed for!

I think it's fair to say that contacting Shutterstock is your safest bet in finding out more details!

All these sensitive use sales are great until you regret it later. If you are in the sensitive use and have no peeps in your port, then great.  If you have peeps you risk an ugly situation regardless of a model release.

Jeez!  some people are enough flattering themselves here. I dont think there is much chance of anything, billboards, wifes, models? your pics will probably go no further then the usual little webbie.

Or maybe a 50 meter gigantic poster on Hollywood hills, next to the sign, where everyones models are sitting in Bentley Continentals and Bugatti Veyrons. ::)

So I did a double-take just now looking at my SS stats - I have a single/other download today for  $79.11!!

I can't imagine what the license is for, but it's not an image that I would have thought had any sensitive aspects - this one. Some of my daughter's dress-up glasses from a few years back.

It was already a BME at SS, but this is certainly most welcome :)

Nice One :)

I seem to remember reading that the 'Sensitive Use' thing is a bit of an umbrella term that covers a number of uses that are beyound the confines of the usual license.

Whatever the usage, that's a lovely result for you to finish the month on.  Congrats!

people is shortened to peeps - my people -> my peeps.

There's a type of supposedly edible Easter candy called Peeps, and I think little chicks are supposed to say "peep"
