Hi
I'm making a statistic about Shutterstock acceptance rate
what is your average all-time acceptance rate in SS ?

I mean the all-time rate, not casual or recent, so you just need to take the total Approved Photos and Rejected Photos numbers and calcolate it.
For illustrations just make an estimation, usually its 90-100%
If you just make illustrations don't report picture rate.
try to not include the rate for illustrations in picture rate because it will increase the percentage obviously

we have to make 2 separated stats because illustrations/clipart has less risk of production mistakes and so higher acceptance rate.

I start with mine:

PICTURES: 33%
ILLUSTRATIONS: 100%

All time doesn't make sense. What SS took 7 years ago, they reject now. I reworked some shots that sell, before removing the old, and they got refused. Not for being dupes. For focus, pixelation or white balance and the usual common rejections.

Photo runs 25% now. Some shoots July and August 100% accepted. There's nothing for me to tell you about your work from my rejections.

just for your info,
i went back to check my submissions,
averaging 90%

there only once i had 80% but it was due to a misinformation of the reviewer who asked for credentials.
they got approved when i send them a copy of my email from the organizers we did not require credentials .

but as yada3 says , it tells you nothing about your own acceptance rate. we have pages of complaints
100% rejection , although i am not one of them, i believe it depends on the reveiwer as well.
years ago, i would be more confident of the reviewers justified to rejection, but not these days.

With SS, most of my illustrations get accepted, and most of my photos are rejected. I create my illustrations specifically for the micros, but with the photos I shoot mainly to please myself, focusing on what looks good to my eye. The vast majority of what I upload is illustrations. I very rarely upload photos, and I expect I high rejection rate from SS to begin with when I do, so it doesn't get me down too much. I used to shoot mostly for the micros and it nearly killed my interest in photography - I love photography again and that's what matters.

Photos: 70%

Although when I first joined them they rejected much more than they accepted, the last 2 months the acceptance rate is about 90%... Probably because I don't upload on weekends!  :P

This thread is a total contrast of that long long thread of complains on SS rejections. It seems like SS haven't rejected much  ;)
Probably it's two different set of contributors posting in these two threads.

Submitting 3 times to get the photos accepted gives you a high acceptance rate but also indicates a problem with the review process

How come? That means it has already been rejected twice. So the acceptance rate is down to 33.33%. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends how you count, if you count images accepted against unique images submitted, not how many times an image has been submitted

if you submit 1 image and it gets rejected twice and accepted once, you have 1 image online, 100%

there are many ways to calculate and everyone has their own system plus ss doesnt give you an acceptance rate, so i just guessed

I see.... So that's how you end up with 80% acceptance for photos?

So, is this a trick? Don't submit on weekends? Are "Focus, lighting and WB" are standard responses?

Bad, bad 52% if you count all my failed attempts with the 8/10 standard.  Since I got accepted, it is 74%.  Not great, but better.
