Title: Shutterstock initial Submission process
Post by: Rick D on June 14, 2016, 06:53
I am at the initial stage of submission, where I have to have 1 out of 10 images accepted to become a contributor but I have a question... assuming I get one accepted out of 10 does that image then go on sale or do I need to reupload and submit... I'm asking because I am still under exclusivity with DT until July 14th, but I want to start uploading my port to SS and others before them so they are ready to go live, or at least go to review on 14th

Thanks

Yes, I think it does. At Istock, for example, it doesn't.

Isn't there something you can do on SS to 'hold' acceptances then you can make them live at a time of your choosing? I'm sure I've read here on msg of iS about-to-be-ex-exclusives doing that while they sit out their notice.

the image will be available for download straight away, but you can hide your portfolio from sales, but if the image gets a number and you activate it 2 weeks later, it will be sitting at page 1000000 of new images

As others have said above you can hold your images offsale until your exclusivity ends. From the submitter home page use the drop down menu under your user name and click on Account Settings then choose No for image licensing. Two things - don't forget to change it back to Yes when the time comes :) and secondly I would advise against uploading many images until they are available for sale as Microstockphoto said above. Just use this to go through the acceptance process then fire away once your exclusivity ends.

Hmmmm. I may be wrong, but I believe images show up in the "new" search based on which day they were uploaded. If so, uploading now and "holding" will result in your images being buried in the search. But if someone knows otherwise please correct me.
