Have you checked out Shutterstock Tab 1.1.2 ?

It's a Chrome extension. Everytime you open a new tab you get the time and weather with a lovely contributor image from Shutterstock.

Wonder what WE are getting out of this?

Not sure how I feel about the app, but definitely not crazy about forcing employees to work 24 hours straight in some ridiculous "hackathon" torture-fest. That sounds like they're just trying to impress the poor art directors who also work ridiculous hours to make advertising CEOs lots of money. In this case Oringer makes all the money, right? And his employees work 16 extra hours for free. Yuckeroni.

Don't forget they are using our images in this app.
And for free.
I guess THIS is why they invented the gigantic preview.

I mean, shouldn't we get a compensation for this image use??? What do you think???

I was going to install it, but Chrome said it wanted access to my most frequently visited web sites and to be able to read and change my data on all Shutterstock sites. Not sure if there's some marketing stuff they want from the list of most frequently visited sites, but I'm not sharing that with them.

I think the TOS says they can use our images for free for promotional purposes, and this is certainly about promotion of SS, so I don't see how one particular kind of promotion would be an exception to the general case.

Jo Ann, I installed the app just to test it and then removed it.
I am sure Shutterstock has an air tight TOS and would claim this is promotion, but this is an App. How and where would you draw the line?

I like the look of it but its a shame if we can't make any money from it.
