Title: SS has closed my account after 3 years of inactivity
Post by: Findura on May 19, 2025, 17:09
SS has closed my account after 3 years of inactivity.
They say it's because of an image that violates the terms of use. But I don't believe them. I had already deleted this picture 3 years ago.

I have the suspicion that they generally do this with inactive accounts.
If you read the reviews for SS on trustpilot, then you know what kind of business strategy ss has.

Now I have experienced for myself how ss wipes out several years of hard work without contacting me first, without asking me a question beforehand.
SS wipes out human existences at the touch of a button and without any scruples.

If you haven't uploaded anything for 3 years, then you don't need this business.

How many photos and videos and vectors did you have?

Did you at least visit your account?
I can't imagine it being closed due to non contributing.

I haven't contributed for quite some time but I do visit my account regularly.

I visited my account once a month.

I stopped contributing there when they changed the terms in 2020.  Still get downloads almost every day but it just isn't enough to get me to upload there again.  If they were closing accounts just for inactivity then they would have closed mine long ago, although I do check for downloads most days out of curiosity.

Just visited my dormant account with 0 sales and 0 assets since Dec 2022. Account is still there and they still owe me 3 dollars, which I will probably never get  :D

I don't see why would they close your account if it's still generating revenue for them, unless someone there calculated that they pay more for hosting your goods than it generates, which I doubt.

And why in the world would ANYONE continue to contribute to this agency when a buyer has to pay $79us for a single HD clip and the contributor "earns" pennies? This was the same agency that years ago promised "the more you contribute, the more you'll earn." An agency that, at the time, was paying contributors a minimum $23us for an HD clip. If that isn't worth legal action, I don't know what is...

What planet do you live on?
The market is changing, the conditions and prices are changing too.
I upload videos because:
1. This stock gives income.
2. There are incomes from 100 to 200 dollars for videos.
3. Average video sales are 10-20 dollars.
4. Good income for training artificial intelligence.
5. This is promising, because the stock can change its policy.
6. Now SS has introduced a subscription model, this can give a good income.

if the buyer is paying $79 for a clip, then you're not getting pennies. you're getting $8.85 to $71.60 depending on the resolution and your commission rate. You might want to figure out the details before you consider any legal action.

Definitely more to it than 3 years inactivity.

Friend of mine with 30k+ assets went missing, presumed dead in Aug 20.  Certainly hasn't been submitted to or even logged into since that time.
Its still up and running and still selling images (and every month dumping large chunks into a never-accessed PayPal account).

I can't understand that either. And that's why I suspect SS has dirty ulterior motives.
In 2022, I had over 6,000 dollars in income. In 2023, I had over $7,000 in income. And in 2024, I also had over $7,000 in income.
That means SS made a lot of money from my videos. And now they're voluntarily giving it up for no REAL reason?
Because this one picture that SS didn't like and that hasn't even been in my portfolio for 3 years, that didn't cause any damage, that's not a real reason.
They were looking for a reason to ban me. I wonder why?

6. Now SS has introduced a subscription model, this can give a good income.

A subscription model doesn't produce a good income, particularly for video. It produces a very crappy, almost non existant income.

Perhaps we need to wait for SS to get subscribers. I don't know how long to wait, but SS offers good conditions for subscription.

SS has been offering subscriptions for years. It's nothing new. And no, they're not good conditions. They're awful. In the past, they offered 25c for photo subs for those who earned less than $500. Then in 2020, they were lowered to 10c - resulting in a significant drop in income. And they also introduced video subs as well which was one of the worst decisions for video contributors. Now we typically get around 25c for video sales which is insulting.

Yes, I doubt that too. My video clips are indeed very large—often 500MB to 1GB—but I didn't have many in my portfolio, only about 2000. But I also had this thought that SS wanted to get rid of me because of these large files.

Another possibility would be that I uploaded almost every clip at several different fps rates.

Despite everything, SS's behavior is extremely deceitful.

Now we know the real reason your account was closed.
