As I understand it, the "sensitive use" is more than just sensitive use, but is mainly the large $ SOD sales. I am opted out because of a few kid and other people pics (Why SS doesn't allow opt out on a model or even per image basis is beyond me). They have requested I allow it for a few images (turn on for the whole port 'til it is dled). which I have done I think 3 times. One resulted in a big sale. All were for images that had nothing to do with sensitive uses. I still get SOD sales w/o opting in, but they tend to be single digit or low double digit sales.

I probably should just deactivate those images that I don't agree to "sensitive" use for and then turn on my port.

SS if you are reading, allow sensitive use opt-out based on model releases or per image or something similar.

Shutterstock, could you please consider an individual opt out per model release or per individual image?

I also have images I would like to opt out, of my nephews for example. I dont care what happens to my self portraits, but some things I would like to protect from sensitive use. But I also would like to get the occasional big sale.

An individual opt out per model release or per individual image would solve this issue. Many contributors would appreciate such a move and it would provide some peace of mind.

Could you please consider this, or maybe comment on the request what your thoughts are on this matter?

Thanks

Ron

It could be an idea for people to vote my comment up to show the demand for such an opt out. It might help showing the importance of that opt out.

All of my images are opted in. It doesn't matter. Buyers are going to use your photos in ways you don't like no matter what you do.

I often shrug my shoulders for things I cannot control, too, like the Google deal.  But If I have any iota of control over my images, perceived or real, I take control. Examples? Opting out of DP PP.  While they will probably continue to cheat us, I don't just shrug it off because they will do it anyway.  I take control in as much as possible given the crummy deal micro stock is overall. I've filed DMCA's, I in face just contacted a dive magazine who had a two page spread of one of my images with no credits, as if the author of that piece is taking credit for my work. I'm not just going to let it go, if that means anything. Other mileage may vary but that's my position.

I'm absolutely with you, Ron. As I sad in the other thread:

"I really would like to allow sensitive use for my images without models ... and those with models but without visible face."

Did you try the feedback tag on the SS homepage?
Or ask Scott to come here sending him a email?

You would think they would gain a lot more images than they would loose if they offered this.  Some people who are opted in for everything now would remove a few images, but those who are opted out for everything would certianly opt in for a lot of their images.

Anoter thread where half the posts are from you to yourself. You want to tell SS how to run their business with posts on a forum that they might not read? Write them direct everybody.

I am staying away from the forum here, and on MSG, otherwise I would have posted something there. Just know, I am one of the lurkers now, PMing nice people when I have something to share. I am also talking to peeps on Facebook ;-)

Couldn't you keep the promises?
