Looks like it but they might just be doing this to try and boost the share price.

If someone buys them, I wonder if they will sell off istock?

It'll be interesting to see how this affects Istock. Anyone know Istock's financial condition? How profitable are they?

I would think that a raise in royalty rates (as discussed in a few threads) is now a moot point.

Oh boy, if someone really buy Getty, I could see that iStock could be spun off to make a quick profit... after that, it's anyone's guess what will become of them.

Wouldn't it be funny if Bruce Livingstone, founder of Istock, offered to buy back Istock from Getty's new owners for $20M?  :D

With IS beeing the cash cow it is I do not think he will get it for less than he was paid for it. Remember Getty is for sale, not IS. IS just happen to come with Getty.

I could envision a scenario where they spin off iStock from Getty and fire bitter and the rest of them and bring in someone else to run the company... pure speculation, but not out of the realm of possiblities.

Yet another reason not to go exclusive.

That's such an utterly pointless and random thing to write. You have to be trolling.

Meanwhile he's one of their best assets. You fire people who are unsuccessful - not people who are successful.

Don't know about the trolling, but I agree about the rest. iStock is the only part of Getty with increasing revenue and profits. You don't fire the people that are doing it right. I also doubt they'll spin off the company that is the only quality unit in the company.

Lol with 50 Milllion Dollars on your personal bank account i think you couldn't care less if you get fired or not  ;D
Bitter is just part of Gettyimages because it was part of the contract that the staff of at istock will remain employees for at least three more years.
If he's get fired he will probably the happiest man around  :D

apparently it is being auctioned but I did a search on ebay and couldn't find it. Is not available to international buyers??

They have chosen the best moment for being auctioned

They should do one of those lowest bidder auctions, then we might have a chance of winning.  I wouldn't mind being in charge of istock, it would make approvals easier :)

They could've chosen a better time to auction themselves... they should take the offer off the table and wait until the stock (the other stock) markets recover...

It looks like Wall Street likes the news of the Getty Sale.

Shares of Getty are up about 14% and are one of the only positives for today (considering the hammering that the market is taking).

There's a chart of the Getty stock price here.

Let's have a look at the one year chart. I would say that as a stock, I'd steer clear of it until the dust settles...

yep, ebay had half price listing fees last week (at least here they did) would be quite a saving on $1.5bn :)

They say sometimes in their announcement that they love us so much. So I think it's profitable!?!
