I just logged in to my Snapvillage account to find that despite having blocked subscriptions (and it's still showing as blocked in my account) somebody has purchased one of my images by subscription.

I've sent an email to support but wondered if anybody else has had this happen?

I think the blocking option in the control panel only blocks subscription on future uploads. If you want to block subs on previous uploaded images, you have to disable subscription on each image on by one. I started to do that, but had enough after a few 100 images and let them be for now. Not the smartest system around.....

Hi RT -

I am just looking at your email in the support inbox as well, but I'll start here:  Moori is correct - currently, the pricing option/subscription preference option on the "My Account" page is for changing the setting of future uploads. This does NOT change the status of images that have already been published.

RT - you are not alone in finding this confusing. Our apologies.
We are aware that this is quite confusing, and as I've mentioned elsewhere - we really dropped the ball on the My Account page.
Rebuilding this entire page is high up on our priority list.

In the meantime:  to change the subscription option on images that have already been published you can either:

** change this on each image individually by going to your Portfolio -> Published, and then clicking the "change pricing" button and checking or unchecking the checkbox for "allow subscription downloads", and then click "save"

OR

** if you need to make a change to your entire portfolio - and you've got lots of images, I can handle this for you on the backend. Just shoot me an email.

RT - you are not alone in finding the preference setting to be an issue.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions/comments on this.

Brian,

Thanks for the reply, I've now changed the individual images to take the subscription option out.

Any chance of an update as to my other enquiry - FTP? then I could upload lots of images  :)

Brian,
While you're working on this, here's another thing you should do: make it possible to change standard pricing for a set. Fo rsome sets, I've set pricing options that I don't want to have any longer, but I have to change it on each photo that I upload. Not very convenient.

Hi Drop -

Sorry to hear you're having trouble too. I'll PM you to get your details and investigate further.

If you can - double-check that you haven't had the same issue as I described above (changing the account preferences which changes the settings for future uploads, but not currently published images)

I found the same on my account page and emailed support about it, but never received an answer. I found this thread here just by accident. Maybe you could work on the quality of support a bit as well... >:(

Hi Maui -

Point taken. My apologies that you didn't get a response to your emails.
That's unacceptable.

I understand the frustration an unanswered inquiry can cause - when I have an issue with a site/retailer/service and I don't hear back, I think twice about returning.  We want SnapVillage to have great  customer service, and realize we have a long ways to go before we get there.

We're still a small team, and I'll admit that this has affected our level of support in the past.  Very recently we've taken a hard look at our customer support system and are adding resources and tools to better ensure we get back to you quickly and accurately. I'm confident that going forward you'll see significant improvements here.

I just put this in another thread: but I'll repeat it here:

---  if you have an unresolved issue, or an urgent problem -

my direct email:  [email protected]
my direct phone:  1-206-373-6040

I received your email today. Thanks for your help, Brian. If you continue the good work you do here in the forum, SV might eventually become a good agency. ;)

To say Snapvillage is a sleeping giant would be an understatement.  I hope Brian's participation, combined with SV getting out of beta, is a sign that things will start moving soon.

I check the Alexa and Compete numbers for SV and other sites every few weeks.  The numbers are still very low relative to BigStock, which represents the bottom of the Big 7.  But that's nothing a well targeted advertising campaign couldn't turn around in a hurry.   8)

Hi DanP68 -

We look at those traffice numbers too and would like them to be higher. We're still a bit off the radar.
We've got some plans in the works to tick those graphs upwards. Also keep in mind that we are seeing strong positive growth in many areas: unique visitors, time spent on site per visitor, number of registrations, uploads, sales et al.

We'll get there...   ;)

Thanks!  We're working hard to keep getting better every day!
(just getting impatient myself - wish I could share all the new stuff we're working on right now... have to be patient and let things flow through the development process...)

I think you should push your Corbis parent brand name a bit more. Sailing undercover as you do now will not do it in the long run. But that's just my opinion :)

I agree.  "Corbis presents SnapVillage," or something of the like.  You definitely want to connect that name back to Corbis to drum home the quality and high standards to potential buyers.  Not to mention the name recognition.

I, likely others too, find it reassuring that you visit us here.  Once you get ftp I will join the party.

not a sleeping giant, but a naive offspring of  Microsoft. They can't do ftp, they can't redo their poor interface, they can't find customers.
