hi,

i have a series of images from last summer where the subject (a sculpture) is against a blue sky. All these images have a very complex form of chromatic aberration which i cant clear with LR2, LR3 Beta, PS Raw Converter. Whenever the aberration on one place of the image is cleared it creates one at another place.
I also tried some other techniques i read about on the internet. one thing i tried was replacing the color which is very problematic because the same cyan is in the sky. Another technique was to reduce the channel with the strongest aberration (the blue one) for about 99,93% which helps on one side but creates distortions on the other side.

I dont know how to deal with this but i really need to save this images.

does someone have a working technique or a software that can deal with that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

regards, alex

In such cases I repaint the sky or something witch is behind object. Make selection with any of the selection tools, feather 1px and start painting with clone tool. It works for me. And with little practice it became routine.

Replace colors tool works great. Just put down the saturation or adjust to the color it should be. You can even choose the amount who will be modified

Simple to fix. Use the 'colour replacement brush in photoshop, select the colour of the sculpture, adjust the setting so it doesn't effect the sky and brush away the CR. You might need to do a bit of re-sampling as you go round the sculpture.

All good advice above.

I try camera raw first. If that makes it worse, then fix in photoshop.

Lens correction filter on a separate layer, paint over problem areas.
if that doesn't work??

saturation layer, set to closest color, red, green, magenta etc..select eye dropper on far left of saturation control palette, select problem color on image and reduce saturation, invert and paint.
If that doesn't work??

saturation layer, reduce saturation, invert and paint.

clone tool reduced opacity.

Paint brush, select closest color, reduced opacity.

duplicate image and slide it left, right, up, down,  just enough to cover problem, invert, and carefully paint.

There are a lot of ways to deal with the problem, sometimes a combination of techniches is what is needed. If you are patient you should be able to save almost any image.

I sometimes use the sponge tool to desaturate the affected areas - this very quick method works particularly well with snow, shadows, and hair.

There are two solutions:

1) Buy a quality lens with very low CA

2) Leave it to non-stock, generally I do not waste time on too problematic pictures requiring lot of editing - the pocket money you earn from micro will never cover the costs (time spent on editing)

Hi,

You can try working with different layers extracted from the raw file. A bit more work but gives IMO the best results.

Open file in ACR and correct for first CA, import in photoshop.
Open file again in ACR and correct for second CA, import in photoshop.
Repeat this if needed .. etc..
Put all files in photoshop in one file... different layers and apply selective erase with a soft brush.
