Title: Lightroom 5 Adding Keywords on Export
Post by: SLStudios on April 12, 2014, 23:08
For all the lightroom users here, has anyone found a way to shut off the exporting synonyms when exporting keywords in Lightroom 5? This thing is driving me nuts. It did not used to do this but since I updated the other day, it is now adding what it thinks are appropriate synonyms to the keywords when I export images.

I guess the other option is to export without keywords and use something else to keyword my images but dang, this is adding too much time to the workflow.

I use Lightroom, but I don't get this issue. How do the synonyms get in there in the first place - do you have a controlled vocabulary set of keywords loaded? There is a setting in export to ignore synonyms, but I have it unchecked.

I've had issues in the past with Lightroom exporting synonyms and parent keywords. I went through my keyword list and eliminated synonyms. I also totally flattened out my keyword list (i.e. no parent keywords/no heirarchy). I found that I no longer have such issues. I am not saying this is the only solution, but it worked for me.

I guess I am going to have to get into the keywords and flatten the list out. I really didn't want to but I think it is all I can do. Thanks for the replies.....

At some point when I updated I got a list of keywords in there that were not there in previous versions. I am blaming Adobe because it is the easy thing to do but honestly, I am not sure how they got there. This started with version 5.3 as far as I can tell.
