I'm working on a the godaddy bug, and along with it making some theme improvements through it, but so you know I'm still in the game...

<your option> License Plugin

Help me formulate this -

There could easily be 10 different licenses people would want to offer, besides the 1000 different types that could be invented and requested. Lets make something flexible...

A generic plugin template. Make your own license with options.

Step 1:
Enter License Name.

Step 2:
Enter License Text (will be specially formatted to look licensy and legal)

Step 3:
Enter License Summary? ( Optional ) Choose for it to appear under description or dropdown under table.

Step 4:
Action at image sale: Image deactivated? Image Price Change? Please suggest more.

Step 5:
Enter price value. % based on size? + x amount? Solid price?

Upon creation, it becomes available as a dropdown option in Author and Image Editing area. You can have x available slots for license types.

We don't have to create 10 different licenses. We simply have to make a plugin that gives you the ability to create 10 different licenses :D

Please give suggestions below. That way when I come back to this I can just make it complete the first time without having to go back.

And while we are at it, we really need to find a good, solid resource for standard image licenses to choose from. We shouldn't have to re-invent the wheel with every site launch. There should be a resource. Maybe Symbiostock.info could host some for retrieval?

Yes, I can host some resources and make there subpage for photographers, "how to start", but I think that theme itself (or default child theme) should be ready to upload and sell photos "out of the box". Theme, when installed first time, should create all needed and usable menus, main page with default layout (even with newest images for example), EULA page with default license. New user should only fill Symbiostock specific settings, and without any further customization, start working. After that, when he or she will be gradually more familiar with Wordpress and Symbiostock, can start to customize it.

And licenses now:
- extended license, as additional position in current price list, with the same size as large.
- editorial license. It should have the same list of sizes and prices, as RF (bloggee to large and extended), but it should be stated somewhere in or near price box, that it is editorial. And maybe different watermark.
- ability to change default price names (someone didn't like bloggee).

So we should have options to define sets of prices for different licenses. When image is uploaded as RF, it gets price box with RF prices and all license info, editorial image gets its box, and, for example, zip file with paid plugin (with additional, optional image) could have separate license and price :)

Thanks - out of the box everything would be great. A literal "activate/upload/sell" situation. Also noted regarding the size / name changes (very good) and price sets for license types. Keep posting ideas and thanks for the help.

Agree, main theme must be 100% functional and bug free. Fancy features may come later with additional plugins. My plugin wil be ready in about week and it covers some visual aspects at the moment. It's now in a bug testing phase and  needs some friendly info page for less advanced users. Then I'll publish it

before adding more license types, the current system needs to be fixed -- it throws all types of pricing into one box, so once you have differences (zips and jpgs, rm & rf, etc) you can no longer use the bulk editing, so you can only change pricing one file at a time.  so there's no way to test different pricing etc, you're locked in.

simplest solution would be to keep the bulk edit that currently exists but add pricing as ediable

more involved would be to separate various sizes from zips which are qualitatively different.  or to have price changes affect only images that currently use that price type -- eg, changing zip prices globally would only change zip files' prices and wouldn't suddenly make all files show a zip
