Hi guys
How long does it take for Google to index images? I have waited about a month now..
-
I takes a month at least, and to get to 100% can take months. But it will happen.
-
I started showing some images within a couple of weeks, but it varies. Patience is required. :-)
-
if you're using a sitemap, you should see results in days
i'm steady at about 75%, but my main competition is those images at the agencies
-
I submitted my sitemap about 45 days ago and my images are about 50% indexed. My site is small though and I have slowly been adding images. I only have 63 images on my site at this time.

google doesn't promise to index all images -- so after 45 days, you probably won't see any change; one major reason they don't get indexed is if they are already indexed thru an agency

I realized that also posting on Twitter with new links to my website helps a lot in quick indexation.
-
I submitted my sitemaps to Google on 24th September for a completely new domain - these are the results as of this morning

EDIT: I should maybe mention that the domain - http://kerioakimaging.com (http://kerioakimaging.com) was only created on 22nd September 2013

Hi guys

Nobody can give you a definite answer on this because it depends a lot on the circumstances: Does Google now your website for a long time already? Do you have backlinks from other (reliable) websites to your site? Do you update your website on a regular basis, like adding new images daily? If the answer for all three question is "Yes", Google is likely to index new images within days, sometimes hours.
For new websites, Google takes its time (a few weeks) to come back to your site and learn about it - your update cycles, quality of content etc. before starting to show pages of your site in searches. Then it takes even more time before starting to show your images in image search.
The final question is not: "When is Google indexing your images?" but "When does it show your images in generic searches?". That can take everything from three to six months from my knowledge. Google strives to show reliable results to people searching, so it doesn't particularly like new websites. It also doesn't like websites offering something for sale as much as content sites, so if there are price tags on your site, it will be very careful about mixing in your pages and images into the generic search mix.

Thats good to know Michael ! Thanks.

What if I go back and change descriptions?

it's not clear that desc's are as important for indexing images - but would certainly be worth the experiment
my latest:
images indexed
leo 4839 3374 69.7%
yoast 4801 2901 60.4%
% has dropped from 75% in sept, I've added 600 more images in oct, but only sbout 50 addtl indexed images

Here's some interesting background on how and what search engines look at.

I only use Google and Bing. Google 97% indexed (1080 images total port), and Bing dont know yet

Interesting stats, and yes after Google and Bing, there isn't much.
Hits so far this month (one of my websites.com) that's fairly dormant but contains two add on sites with images and a gallery, one is Symbiostock. Numbers are in KB

although my symbiostock-search.com site for global searches is visited constantly by google, crawling each keyword that sym sites have listed, I haven't been able to detect any visits from bing, although the same sitemap has been submitted to them
-
I don't understand why Bing doesn't crawl the site indexing pages but Google does. As Bing's share of search is about 15% (and less on mobile devices I would guess) I haven't worried about it.
I started getting my site ready at the very end of August and started submitting sitemaps early in September. As of today, Google has indexed 1,061 of 1,151 pages and 753 of the images (everyone tells me that goes more slowly).
