Following on from Leo's sales Poll I thought I would ask a few questions to see how others minds are working.

My thoughts are that the perfect result would be for everyone to go totally independent so that clients had to come to us if they wanted images but I don't think there are enough people that would risk removing their images from everywhere else - or are there ?

I meant to add more than one voting option but cannot edit it to add it   :(

Hmm, I can't vote for more than one option, I guess I want to be greedy. My images do sell daily across stock sites, Currently only uploading exclusive content to symbiostock and have stopped uploading to all agencies.
I have in the last week pulled my whole port from
Panthermedia, stockami and veer (waiting for veer to come back to me)

I intend to pull every non selling image from fotolia.
Yes, I'd be happy to go totally independent on symbiostock with the exception of one problem and that is my video.

I have no way of selling video on Symbiostock:(

Also, I haven't got the slightest clue on how to code but if there are some other people out there who can code and make it happen get in touch with me!

Putting my market researcher hat on (my previous occupation), this is a tough question to answer.  Probably better to put as a sort of 5 point range of All Exclusive to No Exclusive.

I'm putting up a mix.   Choosing my best images and expanding on with new exclusives and expanding with "similar" exclusives from popular series.  Also putting up some more artistic stuff that the micros would reject.

My new stuff is going Dogfordstudios.com first.

There is a lack, you miss my answer christine.
My symbiostock site will be with exclusive content. My plan for future is so far simple, first choice my website with exclusive content and then others files for agencies. I understand that this isn't a move for all, but I dropped all agencies except one long time ago. I think that my efforts in future will be something like one or two micro agency, one in macro and my symbiostock site. The best is only the symbiostock site, but this is a long way... or maybe...

Sorry I mucked up the poll (so you can only answer one) but maybe the discussion on this will be of benefit anyway

Thanks for answering picture5469, I know what you mean about video, that makes it more difficult, interesting that you would go totally independent with your site

Hi Dogfordstudios - market researcher - now you might come in useful :)  Everyone is more than welcome to put additional answers and options in their replies - I also welcome the option to add more artistic images - it will be interesting to see if they are popular

Alberto, welcome - looking forward to seeing your site when you get time to get it up .  I also dropped all agencies except one micro and one macro a few years ago and have just dropped the macro and am moving all my better images to my own site - along with all new images

I really want this to succeed so am prepared to take the risk of an exclusive image site even if they are not all new

I upload my microstock portfolio to my Symbiostock site.

Eventually I will also create more and more exclusive content that will only be on my site to give customers an incentive to shop there.

However, it will take some more time until then, because the buyers will only take Symbiostock seriously if the variety of topics is plentiful and the requirement for registration for purchasing is removed.

I have a very limited portfolio atm, but will put it all on SYS. All my future images will be on it exclusively.
Most of my images(and my interests) are landscapes, nature, hdr, wildlife etc, not much similar to microstock agencies' required files. Most of my files are heavily postprocessed and won't be of great interest to most buyers, but i hope someone will evaluate them.
I've seen already, some of the connected sites had put up FAA pages. Have you guys had any observations on that?

My plan, right now, is to put my travel and editorial travel work in one site, and share that with select stores ( SS and maybe SS)

My people doing real things images are going on my people site and to select stores ( SS mostly)

My creative images are being put Exclusively on my sites.

I would really like to only feed my own sites, but the traffic and sales are not there yet.

When I can get access to a faster internet, I plan to go into my images and rekeyword and optimize my SEO on my best sellers at the other stores.

I've been slacking on creating new content the first half of the year but I'm getting back in the swing of things.  All new content is going to my Symbiostock site first now.  Some images will likely get uploaded to a few select sites in the future.  I don't want to leave money on the table but I want to give Symbiostock some unique images for now.  I'm starting to think more selectively about which of the other sites will get any new content too.

I'm with you klsbear.  I plan to upload the majority of my new content to our symbio site and decide in the future which, if any, of the micros gets the content as well.  I had originally planned to eventually put the new work up on all the micros but at the rate that the micro agencies are deteriorating (royalty and price cuts) I think I'll be pretty choosy about where the work goes.  I think subs are killing this industry so once I eliminate the sub sites and sites with low ball royalty rates there aren't many options left that actually pay.

As footage has been our main business with the micros I'd be more than excited to be able to license video through our symbiostock site as well.

the poll doesn't reflect the choices available -- i'm uploading parts of my portfolio that are available elsewhere & parts that are exclusive

symbio is just another place to present my portfolios - i'll still work with any micro agency that gives me a decent return
