On my opencart site it shows things like order no customer name, value of order and above this total sales month/year etc and other things.  Something like this would be great for tax and accounting purposes

Leo-on the image detail page, like this one - http://thpstockphotos.com/image/sheep-in-field-2/

can we have a "View my Cart" button or something similar, as clicking on the "Customer/Licensing Area" link is not intuitive for people who know nothing about stock/licenses. If we turn that link into a button with simpler text I think it would be great.

I think we should keep the word licence in there somewhere - maybe Checkout/Licencing - the little shopping cart gives a big clue anyway

See what you mean. It's just that I've had a few non-stock friends look at it and none of them knew what to do after clicking on the image size they wanted. So we need it to be pretty obvious. I know education is part of the process, but at this point pretty much no-one knows what Licensing means.

Maybe as you say, something thats a compromise might be best "View licenses & Checkout" or such.

Just popping in for a minute - maybe you want another modal-window popup or something - for cart? Its easy to put in. If you guys  can photoshop me what you think would be most effective I'll be making some major headway starting monday. Will be out Sat and Sun.

After my mistake when I first started uploading in not realising I would not be able to change the sizes (I thought the message meant on the individual pages)

I would really like to see more size options or way to change them all.  The default bloggee  size is, I feel, rather too small for detailed photos, although okay for most isolated.  I did change them part way though (again not realising it would not change everything)  but am still not really satisfied with the sizes I have chosen.

Just purely for styling/asthetic purposes, would it be good for a networked partner not to show up at all if they don't have any matching results from a search query?

For instance, you might have 5 networked people. Someone searches on your site for "Dog", up comes your dog photos, along with 4 empty result spaces below it showing zero results from 4 partners, and finally, the last networked partner who does have relevant results. I would suggest the first 4 don't get shown up at all if they don't have a match, just the one networked partner that does.

Any thoughts? It's not a biggie, just purely a look & usability thing.

It's a good idea if its possible to have nil results from the network at the bottom.

One glaring error on the e-commerce network is that if you leave to go another members site with items in your cart, you cannot purchase them on the other members site. This should be made crystal clear.

If the shopping cart has items in it there should be a - shopping cart warning - before a buyer disappears across the network, so they are prompted to complete their purchase.

Amazon S3 file hosting should be a high priority - it's scored low, but the benefits will big for members. Fast downloads, fast sites and search results.

Wow, great point. +10 for this one. Good pick up matt

I keep thinking of this and forgetting to post...

On most stock sites and a few other self hosted scripts I've used there is an image ID number in addition to an image's title.  This is really helpful particularly for cases where series of images have similar titles and content, and when a customer requests a quote from my other site I usually have them give me the image ID of the image the are requesting to avoid confusion.

This is kind of already built in with wordpress as the unique Post ID.  I've been manually putting the Post ID at the end of the image slug as I'm uploading to avoid any future duplicate slugs, but what I'd really like to see is the Post ID displayed somewhere in the front end on the image page.  I'm checking around to see if I can find a plug in that already does this, but if anyone one knows of an easy way feel free to share!

I think it may be worth it to work this into the theme itself.

Each image is given a unique number - you can see it when you hover over an image in the image view page - it is just in front of the rest of the title. It is also there when someone buys an image. However, I do agree with you that showing it would allow a better customer service experience if someone is asking you about a specific image

Oh good! I see it now and it is the same Post ID# I've been putting in my urls.  I think I may have found the code to display this on the page, I'm going to experiment and if it works I'll post it somewhere for people to use if they want.

can we add a variable for sales that keeps track of how a site was found?  ie, either a SEO or another symbiostock site.  on a sale, it could update stats showing site X sent a user to site Y and that resulted in a sale.

I could have javascript append a variable after click on pretty much anything.

PS - right now I'm doing a search overhaul. I can't see why that could not be an option eventually.

With all the awesome ideas you have I'm hoping to make an entire plugin around Symbiostock specialized analytics.

I think we have that to a certain extent already (jetpack, site stats) can see what some search engines are looking for and match that to the descriptions of the pictures they view.

I can also see how many other network members appear to be linked to me (one ) by the links from their site

Something I would really like to be able to do is go straight from the publish/update page to Drafts instead of All Images and then Drafts - would it be possible to have an extra button at some point please - if anyone else would like this?

Video support.......... PLEASE........

BTW, I don't know PHP, but I was an embedded Linux programer and administrator, anything I can help?

BTW2, what are you using to manage source code? github?

need a way to bulk edit to remove a category from the batch -- eg, I mislabeled a category

would also be useful if categories are changed -- eg, if a category gets too big, we might break it down into subcategories and then need to re-set existing images

need a way to display only the top levels  of categories, user buttons to expand - similar to the way smugmug works

Yes - github! And anything you can do to contribute - your welcome to invent your own spot. For instance Cascoly has used his experience (though not PHP) to help me start planning a better networking system. You may find something you are interested in to contribute, even if its something that nobody has thought of yet.

I have visited the symbiostock github page: https://github.com/orangeman555/symbiostock

Is there any introduction? I have checked out the wiki part, nothing. I am going to test symbiostock in virtualbox.

Remember Sell Media?  Well, they just added a new extension to sell prints (or physical goods really).

http://graphpaperpress.com/?download=reprints-self-fulfillment

I think they charge $50 for this addon.  I would purchase it for Symbiostock today if it was available.  But LOL, if you want to make a tick box for "physical goods" I'd settle for that also.
- I am working on a niche site that will be selling posters, greeting cards, textiles and other physical goods.  At the moment I think I will have to integrate a Woo-Commerce shop on a subdomain - but wouldn't it be lovely if I could do it all from the same site!

Leo, if you can expand Symbiostock to include portrait or fine art photographers, your pool of users will exponentially increase.  (I pointed you to the photocamel forum for example, they would be all over an affordable proofing gallery that they maintain on their own).   Maybe something like this is an option that you can get rich from!
