I continue to get crawl errors on datasheets. I thought datasheets were eliminated from the SY theme a few versions ago. Why do they continue to show up?

Did you upload your sitemaps before that changed?

Site maps are dynamic, they get updated on the sever. SYS sitemap is never outdated.

Yes, but you still need to submit them to the search engine websites.  And if you add more images or make changes after they are submitted, then you need to resubmit them.

Is that true? Doesnt seem to be the case for the SYS sitemap.

So far as I can tell that is true.  I've got the symbiostock image sitemap.  It updates everyday on its own but webmaster tools never seems to update the number of images submitted until I press the button to manualy re-submit the sitemap.  Then it goes and looks at the updated sitemap. I'd like confirmation of this too.  Is this how it's supposed to work?

I knew I asked this question before so I reviewed that thread. I am amazed that they just keep disappearing and then reappearing again.  :o   81 errors? They seem to be multiplying.

Here's my last thread:

Resubmitting Sitemaps

When you make changes to your Sitemap, you can resubmit it using your Google Webmaster Tools account or an HTTP request.

Resubmit a Sitemap using Webmaster Tools

On the Webmaster Tools Home page, click the site you want.
Under Optimization, click Sitemaps.
Select the Sitemap(s) you want to resubmit, and then click the Resubmit Sitemap button.

What is contained in a site map?  Is it a pointer to a page or the individual content on that page.  In the case of our images, does it point to an image depository that holds all images, or a listing of individual images?

I'm wondering exactly what changes on our sites triggers the need to resubmit a site map.  If I upload 6 new images will they be included in future indexing because the current sitemap points to the image depository or do I need to resubmit because the sitemap is looking to a list of images that needs to be resubmited to show the new images.

Same for a blog post - will the site map look for the blog page and pick up individual new posts or do I need to resubmit after every post?

Individual urls and images possibly any other links you have on your pages be it in your own site our outbound links.

Yoast generates 9 sitemaps for me author, categories, images, image tags (I have 3 sitemaps of image tags you may have more or less depending on how many image tags you use), image type, pages and posts.

I quit uploading until I get the SEO done (I have 300 images left to go) and I don't know if I have to manually update it on Google Webmasters but just to err on the side of caution probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks for the link Ron! What I got out of reading the info was that you can/should resubmit the image sitemap after adding new images. Leo's image sitemap updates itself on your server only once every 24hrs so you'll have to wait after adding images for it to auto update itself. Then you can go into webmaster tools and resubmit the sitemap.  If you have Leo's plugin you can see your sitemap at http://www.yoursite.com/symbiostock_image_sitemap.xml  That way you can tell if your latest images are showing on the sitemap.

I noticed the yoast sitemap seems to resubmit itself to google without my doing anything but I have to manually resubmit  Leo's image sitemap.

Just noticed a file in the Symbiostock theme folder called content-datasheet.php. What does that file do? Anything to do with what it is named, datasheet?

just mark the datasheet errors as 'fixed' and eventually they go away 0-- it may just be that google's not visiting your site very often so it's checking older pages.  it wont affect anything in SEO
