I am a new user of both WordPress and NextGEN so forgive me if this is a stupid question.  I understand how to create pages and galleries using these two products.  I also understand how to use some of the codes to put images, galleries into the Symbiostock pages.  My problem is that these NextGEN images and galleries are static in my pages.

Example:  I have a gallery setup on my home page as [*gallery=1*].  Pretty simple. It displays the first image and that is it.  Same with the following codes: [*slideshow id=1*] [*nggallery id=1*] [*imagebrowser id=1*] [*album=1*] [*nggallery id=1 template=carousel images=7*]. Note: I added the * for the purpose of this message.

I have used the three different Home page templates with no affect.  I have create pages using the Default template, also with no affect.

I am using Vista with both IE and Fire Fox.  Systems are all upto date and using versions of Symbiostock Version 1.0.0  and NextGEN Version 1.9.12.

I have attached screen shots from what I hope are the areas that I made a mistake.  I am limited to 4 attachements.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please cancel this topic.  I just noticed how old a version of Symbiostock I am using.  Guess I need to update before I do any more head slaps.

Are there any instructions for upgrading to the latest version of Symbiostock?

Just based on a really quick glance your link is sending you here: http://quailrunphoto.com/?page_id=105/nggallery/page-2

Which is a sort of "funky" link since it has two URL variable formats (one with "?" and "/stuff/" at the same time)...

But that could work I suppose. The part that is killing the link is page_id=105

You do not seem to have a post ID 105. edit - in other words the page doesn't exist.

You rock dude!

Should I just kill NextGEN and reload it?

I also noticed that my version of SymbioStock seems to be old, but I am not getting any update notices.  Do you have instructions on doing the update?

Right now the only development "notification" is email. Pretty soon I'll have a nice "latest version" reference system up. Just so many things to do.

Believe me I understand.  I did programming for 20+ years, but that was a different world then.

I will try deleting the Gallery and Album first before I do anything else.

Then I will try to update Symbiostock.

Thanks for your help.

Hope you get to enjoy the island.  I just got back from two weeks in Hilo.  Love it there.

Hilo! Did you get it on a non-rainy day?

It actually only rain two days out of 11 that we were there.  Just perfect.  Stayed at the Dolphin Bay Hotel and did a lot of day trips.

Back to my question about upgrading to the latest version of Symbiostock.  Got anything in writing for doing the upgrade.  I am at a loss where to start.  I now to download the latest version, but have no idea what to do next.

De.activate and then delete existing version but keep child if you have one . Upload new version , install and activate then reactivate child version if you have one

I am missing something.

The child theme is not part of the plugins, so I can't deactivate it.  Is there another place to deactivate it?

When I try to install the parent the install fails :

Unpacking the package

Installing the theme

Destination folder already exists. /home2/quailru2/public_html/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/

Theme install failed.

Deactivate symbiostock
Delete symbiostock

(If you do not have a  child theme of symbiostock installed then ignore that bit
Another theme will have taken the place of symbiostock when you deactivated it)

Download latest theme version to your computer
In themes area upload latest version
Nstall
Activate

It will fail if you have not deleted the previous version

You should go to themes, not plugins.

I always activate twenty-ten theme, which auto deactivates sy child theme. Then i delete sy parent theme. You might see a notice saying the child theme needs sy parent. That is ok. Then i install updated parent theme. Then i reactivate sy child theme.

Thank you Tinny and cclapper.  I was able to upgrade to 1.3.3 last night.  However it did not fix my problem of NextGEN not working properly.  None of the galleries will scroll on the web site.  They just keep repeating the first image or move to the next gallery and display its first image.

Not sure what to do now.

I reloaded NextGen from scratch.  Here is where I stand at this point:

Various versions of album do not work.  Note the spaces before and after the brackets were add for this post.

[ nggalbum id=2 ]

The following slideshow works

[ slideshow id=1 w=320 h=240 ]

The follow gallery works except for the w and h parameters

[ nggallery id=1 template=carousel images=6 w=320 h=240 ]

Imagebrowser does not work, does not allow image selection, just repeats the same image.

[ imagebrowser id=1 ]

Any suggestions as to where to look for a solution?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

You can use other resouce than nextgen for you slideshow. Right now I'm using a plugin named "slideshow". Very easy to setup. See it running in my site.
