I'm getting error messages in my Network Settings tab, (functions opendir) and I assuming that's because I haven't set up a network yet. What has me totally confused is the Symbiocard setup and on my images (which I'm just starting to upload) there's an Info area that's empty and the SS logo showing (profile image?)... I'm really confused to how I set all this up... could someone please enlighten me? LOL...

Thanx
Linda  =}

Which is your site again - that always helps :)   Your question was a little confusing - mine always are as well

Right now, my site is on a subdomain until I get everything figured out, tested and set up... the site is http://stock.lkpublishinganddesign.com

However, right now it is in maintenance mode and not viewable while it is being constructed. Eventually it will go on a TLD of a different name when I move it to another server.

Slowly but surely I'm getting everything figured out... ;)

I currently have my site out of Maintenance Mode in case anyone wants to take a peek (not many pics yet tho)... it's still a WIP and in testing mode while I continue to figure things out... which brings me back to the Network confusion and the .csv file... can someone give me an idea of what I need to do or point me in the right direction?

Thanx
Linda

I am wondering if Steve answered the wrong post ?

Hi Linda

Looks like you are getting there.  There is something strange going on with the search and you have disabled right clicking I think, not sure if that has any effect so I cannot copy it here for others to see if they know the cause.

Network - go to your network page and under Use Symbiostock Network?  select Activate and save.

Now visit other people's sites and follow the links - (this is also a good way of learning how they work) and find a site you would like to link with

Then either type the full address of the site you would like to link to into the box,  or click on one of the links on the directory pages then click on the drop down author box and select author page, then select Author Attributes and Symbiocard, scroll down to get Symbiocard and save it to your computer, then upload it to the space provided and click Update Symbiocards and save the page If you prefer to type in the site address it will collect the symbiocard for you once you update the page.

Tinny...

It was Activated but I activated again and updated... Turned off the Copyright plugin... I am getting these error messages on the Symbiostock Network Tab page...

Warning: opendir(/..../public_html/stock/symbiostock_network/) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory in ..../public_html/stock/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/network-manager/network-manager.php on line 265

Feel like I'm brain dead or something cause I can't get it to work... read and read the info page but I'm obviously doing something wrong or missing it totally... geez...

Looks like you have a problem with the network cache in symbiostock_network directory (I suppose).
Maybe try to deactivate and activate Symbiostock theme again, check the directory permisions to 755

otherwise wait for Leo.. ;)

Yup... that fixed it... all the error messages are gone and the search works right now too!

Now where is the network directory so I can hook up?

I'm so happy... =}

the card.csv files are not the same -- a csv file should have the same fields for everyone - instead there are diff numbers of fields, which complicates any attempt to consolidate them into a db or single csv file.  any field that is blank should still be put into the csv as either a space, '.' or 0

any new fields should be placed at the end of the csv file so it at least wont distort the data

===========================
wont let me delete the 1 network site i had -- i replaced its url with another one but when i asked for the card it still gave me the old one; then when i saved & came back both were gone and it wont let me add any sites -- i paste in the url and press enter and it just clears the lined sites box

the + turns blue but nothing happens when i click

@Linda interesting that you did only deactivate the child and it worked, I thought  rather about the main Symbiostock theme. Sometimes it's good to just upload it manuallty to the server. Anyway grat news it works :)

I think there are still some browser quirks to work out. The network organizing feature is extremely javascript oriented so thats probably where your problems are coming from. What browser / version are you using?

I hoped you weren't going to say that!!  i'm using IE10  with my new travel notepad and haven't added a number of apps yet.  i'm trying to get the csv external read stuff cleared up first

the part that isn't a browser quirk is that it wont even let me enter 1 network site, when earlier it let me put in 1

I always upload my WP sites manually, especially if it's in beta or testing. However, since the later versions have the upgrade theme feature activated now I used that instead since 2..2.7...

I had upgraded to the latest ver 2.3.4 and when things still didn't work I followed previous advice and deactivated and reactivated my child theme... if that didn't work then I was going to re-install the Symbiostock parent but it ended up not being necessary...

Everything appears to be working great now...  Happy Dance!  =}

Cool, normally updates work without problems, I had few crashes but it was mostly my fault, so let's dance ;)
