Just wondering how long you will give it at YAY micro before you decide to continue there.

I see people with a lot of images uploaded there and already asking about sales.
It's early days yes!, but it seems people have less patience now, having previously being "burnt" at other sites after many tedious hours of uploading which proved  totally unfruitful.

I do wish YAY all the best - It's a slick and fast site and it would be great if it took off, but as we have seen before it's not easy for new sites to break into Microstock.

How about your views on this.

I never bother uploading to a site until it proves itself to be worthwhile.

As long as it takes.

Unless they're misusing my images (which I doubt will happen) I don't see any point in - having uploaded them - withdrawing them at a later stage because they're not selling.

They'll never sell if I withdraw them.

I don't know why here is such a global furor about YAY?.. What I missed?

I registered and uploaded ~100 files a few weeks ago, have no one download and didn't notice any signs who separate YAY from other any new sites.

Best uploading and post processing system? I don't think so.
Best earnings per photo? It's normal for nowdays.
Best interface? No, imho.
Best personal account info? No. I miss some information I have on other sites.
Best marketing and most clients? I don't know... before I have regular downloads.

You say "but you have only 100 photos and here is only beginning...", but I say that with 100 files at least on 4 agencies (IS, SS, DT and FT) I had downloads on the very first days after uploading IN THE BEGINNING of these agencies.

So who knows this secret, why YAY is different and so good that I must upload thousands images without any signs of successful agency?

I don't ask rhetorical, really would appreciate any answer that I don't know yet maybe..

I ususally dont upload to new sites. But I uploaded about 3100 images on Yay. I'll give them 6 months to prove they can earn me at least 30 euros per month (and that is bare minimum) to be worth the time spent. If not, I will pull out. I dont do this for hobby, my time is money, and I dont want to waste it.

By pulling out I want to punish the agency for not keeping the promise about good making money! LOL!

Somebody said their marketing starts in September for some reason.  So I'm content not to start complaining until November or so. Now that Lucky O is gone and Snap so far is a puzzling bust, I'll need someplace else to bitch about soon.

Just a matter of perspective. Some are giving the Cubs about 100 years.

They have my portfolio (>1000 images) to date, I will upload more when I have time to spare. The more they sell of the ones they have, the more of the new ones they get, time is money, SY

I concur with the majority here - I'll give them six months where I will continue to contribute images as I have them ready for the other Big 6 sites.

However, if there are zero sales after six months, I doubt if I will continue to take the time to upload.

I wish them well, but it is a crowded marketplace out there.....and there are only so many buyers.

I never bother uploading to a site until it proves itself to be worthwhile.

Hear hear!  After discovering that it would take me five more years to break even at FeaturePics with their current sales rate, I quit uploading to new, unproven sites.  Time is money, and it's better spent not trying to help site after site get off the ground.

I'm wondering how any of these new sites are going to steal the buyers away from the sites we are already uploading to? If the bottom of the big 6-7 are barely worth uploading to, how is a new player going to be worthwhile? Snap Village has been a big disappointment and look at their backing. Is it already to late for anyone else? Has anyone broke into the market since 123 or whoever was last?

I am inthe process of uploading my portfolio to them. I think I will give them as long as it takes, based on a simple logic of "if your images are not present at a site, they have no chance of being sold there" . :)

Yay and MostPhoto are two new sites that I joined, mainly because I am tired of American Pesetas and these two pay in hard currency - €uros.

What is the point of uploading the files if they are not sold? Even if I get a few sales, it is not worth it for few euros... It is pure waste of time. Maybe not if you have only 100-200 images... but if we are talking about 3000-4000 or more, than I have good reason to stop uploading until I see some real sales. I stoped uploading on Yay about 15 days ago, and I wont upload again utnil I see some sales. And not just random ones in every 15 days, but rather on a daily basis. They promised a good sales, and I expect them to sell my images like other sites. I dont care if they are new or not, they gave a promise. No excuses, if no money, no images. I dont play games, by the end of the year I will pull out my port. if they dont start doing business. So far, YAY is image storage site, not image selling site, at least for me. Not happy.

I'm already a member at a bunch of other sites. Why should I bother with yet another one?

Because it's dead easy money. You upload the photos, we get the customers, you get money.

But seriously, there are already a bunch of microstock sites? Why do we need another one?

Most of the sites in the microstock-industry have issues that both customers and contributors don't like. That might be strange policies, difficult upload processes, weird rejections, not a focused marketing or customer profile, low commissions, confusing websites and a lack of transparency. You won't find that here. We will tell you who we are, what we are doing and why we are doing it. The commissions will be fair, both for individual sales and for subscriptions. The website will be easy for contributors and even easier for customers.

We are aware of the fact that microstock is not as easy, new and exciting as it was a couple of years ago. Still there are huge possibilites by developing a better website, having better procedures and, most importantly, expanding the business model of microstock to other types of digital media.

But customers are already used to other microstock-sites. Right?

Wrong. Microstock is still an industry with strong growth. Talking to potential customers, we've been surprised at how few actually know what microstock is. There are also new market segments that has yet to exploit the full potential of microstock, most notably bloggers. We believe that an easier site with the kind of flexibility a small company can offer, has the potential to get a favourable reputation both among customers and contributors.

With the right strategy we will prove that microstock can be done better!

If you have 3-4000 images and take away all the ones you have with the big 6. How many is left?   Im kinda new with this. but why would anyone pay more at Yay than SS.  We gotta be more exclusive if we wanna sell at midstock sites. Am I wrong?

Maybe some of belives that there still is buyers that dont want cheap crap:)

they dont have to overtake BIG6, but at least 1 sale per day would be acceptable. not 1 sale every 3 months.

Any time spent on Yaymicro would be better spent creating lightboxes on IS and SS
